No, it's not. What the hell is this silly ass post.

She makes R&B music, it's that simple and it's not limiting at all. This site never fails :doc:

SZA is an “MPG”; ‘Main Pop Girl’.

What exactly are you trying to argue?

Aretha Franklin was one of the biggest, most successful and most acclaimed Soul/R&B artists of the 1970’s. Does that mean she doesn’t belong in the same conversation as Barbra Streisand, Olivia Newton-John, Linda Ronstadt, Karen Carpenter, Carole King, Carly Simon etc. just because she wasn’t a Pop-centric artist like the aforementioned? They were all huge in their own way and not separated by musical style.

Nobody said that SZA wasn’t an R&B act but as @MingYouToo said, the term “MPG” refers to how big a commercial force said female artist may be, irrespective of genre.

Also, SZA has literally featured on Pop songs such as “What Lovers Do, Kiss Me More” and has a GRAMMY win in the Pop category.

Y'all being selectively dense on genre labeling especially in the context of how the terms are used on this site doesn't make your point good.

R&B is not a limiting descriptor.

There is no need to "forego" R&B as a descriptor and suggesting it is just general biased held against it, R&B artists of different subgenres have been discussing this since "PBR&B" started being used in the 2010s. Suddenly if an R&B does better than expected they shouldn't be labeled as such anymore, why? Reread that person's post.

Summer’s Over It is about to cross 3x Platinum in the US. Only Taylor, Olivia Rodrigo and Adele were able to do it since that album dropped, but ATRL and its short-sighted Main Pop Girl label, in which someone has to be big in Lituania to be considered that, are not ready for this convo. SZA and Summer are already iconic. They move more copies and their singles are as certified as number one smashes in the long haul (sometimes even performing better than quick #1s)

“Drew Barrymore”, “Prom”, “Nobody Gets Me” etc etc are Pop songs too.  She dabbles on Pop as well.  Just sayin…
