I’m sure she will get her record back if there’s not an artist logging 20+ weeks other time of the year in the next three years, but Taylor is bonafide competition and she’s capitalizing on her audience for christmas’ pure sales for her new album. If other big artists follow through in the future it will be tougher for Mariah, but she will get there. I dont understand the meltdowns in some pages because a christmas song was blocked for the week of December 2nd…. The only people playin this music at this point are store managers

No one is melting down, and that last sentence is a straight-up lie. People started streaming her in early November.

It's still not a Christmas standard like you claimed.   That's the 22nd Xmas song. It's N/A even in the top 150 on Spotify (#174). And Taylor, who you quickly deflected from? Not even charting. She couldn't even break the top 100 on Christmas Day last year (was #106 with a peak of 73 from its release day). 

 

Even as the most-streamed new Xmas song from this decade so far and an Elton John feature, Ed's song doesn't make noise outside of the UK.

 

And the little fail at shade. Mariah is 53, in a third career wind with what's become the biggest female song ever. This song breaking global and US records and standing as the only Xmas song to go #1 in 60 years is just the cherry on top of a legendary career. We can guarantee Christmas Tree Farm will not be doing that when Taylor's career comes to a halt.

What is the Christmas standart i claimed? I said Christmas Hit and it is a Chrismas hit. 

#174 is Shivers, what does that have to do with anything? His Christmas song is at #87 

And as i said, Taylor's song won't chart as long as she doesn't support her song with playlisting like Ed did which was my exact point.

I was looking at Dec 3rd, which is what I have data from. So Taylor is dependent on playlisting for hits? We knew that, but glad we can confirm it. We love organic Xmas classics! Btw, she's been added to Spotify's biggest Xmas playlist, Christmas Hits. She's also #5 on Christmas Pop and #3 on Christmas is Coming (both two of the biggest with 1+ million likes). 

 

And interesting, you claim Ed was payola'd to these playlists and yet the best he can muster is the 22nd Xmas song? Good to know that payola a top Xmas hit does not make.

It was #97 in December 3. You were probably looking at the data of December 2 somehow. It has been 2 days but better late than never. 

Taylor's new Christmas song, like every new Christmas song including Ed's need playlisting to become a Christmas Hit, as i already said multiple times. Glad you are finally catching up. Better late than never [2]. 

 

Ed's song is #31 on the Christmas Playlist so it's being 22nd highest charting Chrismas song is very good indeed. Looks like playlist support really helps for new songs, afterall.

She is #42 on the biggest Christmas playlist. There are 35 Christmas songs charting.

Babe, she's midway through Christmas Hits (5 million), #3 on Christmas Pop (1.8 million), and #5 on Christmas is Coming (1 million). Those are the biggest three (aside from Christmas Classics - 2.7 million - which is only songs released before 1980). 

 

Any explanation for why the GP is ignoring the song if she's disproportionately playlisted so high like this? Is your theory wrong? Or is Taylor's song just so bad they skip over her each time?

The midway in the question is #42 and as i said, it must be around that among Christmas songs (it is getting ~800k streams). 

 

Regardless, i really couldn't care less if it is a hit or not. My only point was that most Christmas songs are heavily affected by Christmas playlists and new songs need good playlisting to become Christmas Hits quickly (since they are competing with decade old songs). 

At the end of the day, GP will still be interested in her enough to stream Midnights in January to help her already smashing numbers with or without the help of Christmas Tree Farm anyways.

To be perfectly honest, the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 needs a complete shake-up. Seeing Bad Bunny, Morgan Wallen, and Abel's greatest hits album sell pretty much the same number of units week after week after week is getting kind of stale.
