Quote

A Qatar World Cup ambassador Khalid Salman has told German television ZDF that homosexuality was “damage in the mind”, as the Gulf state prepares to host the global tournament in less than two weeks.

The country expects more than one million visitors for the World Cup and Khalid Salman said anyone coming to Qatar for the tournament should behave according to the rules of the country.

They have to accept our rules here,” he said, in an excerpt of the interview.

Homosexuality is haram. You know what haram (forbidden) means?” he said.

When asked why it was haram, Khalid Salman: “I am not a strict Muslim but why is it haram? Because it is damage in the mind.” The interview was then immediately stopped by an accompanying official.

Why would players do that when most of them are homophobic themselves :rip:

this “ambassador” went the wrong way handling this. Just say its not allowed because Islam says so. But dont ridicule and bash people for it. Qatar is literally found on the backs of slavery and capitalist economic systems, things that are also “haram” and “damage in the mind” according to this rhetoric.

And for people in the thread, there is no need to again generalize all muslim people for the words of one individual

There’s enough homophobia in sports and then they organise the tournament in Gilead? Disgusting.

Most players give zero fucks about homophobia or are actual homophobes themselves

Thank God I'm gay so football is none of my interests, even less so paying a visit or any direct contribution towards his disgusting country and its rule of "law".

I completely agree with you that this should not apply to all Muslims, even those who practice religion and have a different viewpoint regarding homosexuality, but at least they keep it to themselves and don't harm LGBT individuals, there a lot of them who are peaceful Muslims who mind their own business when it comes to homosexuality and I applaud them for that. This idiot is no different from any American Christian conservative bursting with anger against homosexuality due to their religious beliefs, the only difference though is that there is a strong democracy in the US that keeps LGBT rights protected from these backward monsters who still stuck in the middle ages.

But sweety, slavery is something that all religions without exception contributed to and it was worse.
