:sistrens: the drops. The first day was curious plays. I knew it wouldn’t hold, BUT it did show the interest In new Rih is still there. The song just isn’t something you’d go back to, that’s the problem.

That drop is ugly but something i learned about rih’s songs is that they have great longevity (unless this is like her other soundtrack song i don’t remember the name)

Navy, just let them pretend this is a lead single, it’ll make it all the more glorious when the actual one comes out :rip:

No one is pretending this is her lead single. It factually IS her first solo song in seven years with massive promo however :rip:

A blockbuster movie soundtrack single is promoted, oh no. :rip:Y'all are pretending like this is supposed to be performing like a lead single and it's hilarious.

At what point will you stop repeating yourself over and over and over in every LMU-related thread?

Taylor just released Midnights. We got a great 21-track album just last week, 2 videos, and on top of that it received enormous success and acclaim. Isn't that enough? Do you seriously need to spam a thread about Rihanna's soundtrack single to spread negativity that much? :rip:

tbh I actually like the song but it's not something I'd play over and over, it's too "heavy", so there's that.

then I don't doubt tons of people may not like it.

This song will smash in Switzerland/France like Gaga’s OST ballads do.On FR deezer it stayed #4 (=) But  For its push it’s been really lukewarm in Asia, where soft vocal’d ballads are their favourite (and Rihanna is always voted the most global mpg)  :

Spotify PH

#59 Lift Me Up Debut ——> day 2  #91 (-32 positions)

Spotify Taiwan

#40 Lift Me Up Debut—-> day 2 #60 (-20 positions)

Asia has never been Rih's strongest market, and we know why.

The revisionist history. :rip: Beyoncé already has multiple successful soundtrack singles. The rollout for Spirit and Be Alive is incomparable to that of other recent soundtrack songs, including this one.

Using the soundtrack excuse as a safegaurd to justify the lackluster debut for a (former) streaming monster who took a 6 year hiatus from music, a traditional rollout with heavy radio support, and countless social media posts with millions of engagements does not work in this case.

Bey had one with DC and one as a solo artist- 'Independent Women' & 'Check On It'. 'Listen' while not being a smash, was a talent show staple and everyone knows it.

Soundtrack always did bad so this is not a surprise. However, with all the playlisting and radio deal and the comeback hype, this is kinda worrying. If anything, Kendrick/Adele/ Drake/Lorde and now Rih had proven that your past success, hypes and years without new music meant nothing if the quality isn't there.

You should seriously stop posting in this thread it’s redundant at this point. You’ve made your point and no one really cares. Focus on the things you like not the things you don’t

That user is a Gaga stan. Enjoy your WP for being off-topic.

Why does Gaga's fan brings B in literally every thread? :deadbanana4:

If Rihanna does a proper comeback it'll serve longevity like she used to. This will probably perform decent for a soundtrack song

I'm so confused with some of the takes here... Y'all are acting as if this is massively bombing, which is just simply not true. YES, this fell massively since yesterday. YES, this does have a lot of playlisting/radioplay. YES, this is Rihanna's first song in years. And yet it's still doing over twice as much on 2nd day as some of the other soundtrack songs in recent times did first day (after the big fall). Y'all are acting as if this fell out the Top200 :skull:

Hmm, two things:

1. The song would be performing better if it was good but it’s not. Soundtrack song or not. She had a lot of momentum and hype going into this release as shown by her impressive first day numbers, but clearly people didn’t keep playing it.

2. The success of this song really has little to no bearing on the success of the lead single for her album. The lead single for her album is still going to be hugely successful.

it's over guys time to stop hiding behind Rihanna to shade some random popstars.  :rip:

Omg the total collapsing :rip:

It lost 1M in USA alone :rip:

I just checked it's total playlisting out of curiosity and it has a MASSIVE 150M spotify playlist support :rip:

This song has literally a bigger push than some lead singles :deadbanana2:

The ''soundtrack song'' excuse goes out of the window.

Former?? She still is. :rip: Some of you will literally say anything, it's wild.

They are obsessed with Beyoncé but Mystic Boy's favorite artist is Christina Aguilera. He disguises himself as a Gaga stan disguised as Beyoncé stan.

I understand that being a “soundtrack single” hinders this, but it’s funny watching the navy pretend like a song being a “lead single” or not matters in 2022  the gp hardly care about album rollouts anymore, and just stream whatever songs catch their attention. I promise absolutely none of them streamed lift me up and then said “hmm but this isn’t the lead for r9”  :gaycat6:

LMU is honestly a good song, it is just a shame that the song has lowkey taken a lot of hype away from Rihanna regarding her comeback.

She still has Super Bowl tho, I’m sure she will still smash with a lead single if she decides to release.

Fair points but the gp still knows to differentiate between a soundtrack song and a single from an artist's own album.
