I remember when ATRL used to say that streams from Latin Americans didn’t count :rip:

Don’t they still say that ? Or that all those high streaming numbers are only because they don’t have Spotify or apple in Latin America? :gaycat5: Love to see it.

Latino is not a race. Therefore, Rosalia, Camilla and Becky G are white women.  Latin American has a larger population than North America. I'm just saying... Trying to make it seem like spanish speaking people are marginalized in any way is stupid. Yes, many of them are immigrants but they are still white and can settle into America comfortably once they learn English if they haven't already

Exactly, which the OP clearly meant.

These girls check WHITE on census followed by their ethnicity. Moving on.

Yikes, you must not really like Latinos to have such strongly held opinions.

1. You're assigning them whiteness based on a US-created Census, especially when many of these women aren't even born in the US. In fact more and more Latinos are not checking white on the Census and you're basically erasing the fact that many Latinos can also be indigenous and/or Black.

2. Ethnically, Latinos are not white.

3. Latinos are marginalized, even if they are not immigrants. The fact that you think the only thing they need to do is speak English to become white is racist, xenophobic and ignores the fact that White people have long discriminated against Latinos.

 Let's clarify that.

In order for anyone to "clarify" a situation, something has to be incomprehensible in the first place, cariño.

You randomly started an off-topic discourse, got clocked and proved wrong. That's quite clear here, no need to clarify anything. :toofunny2:

Mexicans, the mestizos, used to identify as white and many of them still do.

That's factually not true, partly because the mestizo identity at one point was used in Mexico as a tool for a greater nationalist identity that worked actively to erase mexican racial minorities, such as afro-mexicans and indigenous people. There was a point in time in Mexico that literally eveyone was classified by their national census as mestizo, regardless of their self-identification. Race relations in Mexico 101.

Do many mestizo mexicans try everything they can to allign themselves with whiteness? yes, but it's disingenuous and historically inaccurate to claim they collectively all identified as white, not even nowadays. Your hot takes aren't doing what you thought they would do.

Latinos is not a race; therefore, latinos can be white, many of them are white. These are white latinas. What don't you understand? You are one of those people who want to marginalized yourself so bad for to thwart your white privilege?. Sweets, if you're white, you're white. If you're brown, move out of the way, this is not your fight. You and Sophia Vergara are not the same. Cardi B and Jennifer Lopez are not the same.  Amara La Negra and Camila Cabello are NOT the same. So what are we arguing about?

That is the only thing they need to do to fit in America. How are they discriminated against otherwise, especially when America is slowly but surely becoming an english and spanish speaking country. Once it is, what will set white latinos part from white americans? When it comes to the class system in american, where they come from will not mean a thing. They will still be able to assimilate. That's what you don't understand.

They're white. Camila is a white woman. End of discussion.

Call me when brown latinos are up and down this list. Until then they're just white women dominating like usual.

How are people miserable when the purpose of this thread was to point out that white latinas are successful as if white latinas are a marginalized group? Just admit that you assume that latino is a race in your mind. It's 2022 and you're still uneducated about race and ethnicity but mad because others know the difference. Imagine that.

They identify as white within Latin America, not outside. In the USA, they are not considered white. And they are not really white anyway. White means overwhelmingly of European ancestry. Becky G is not the same as Taylor Swift.

They're still white in American phenotypically and otherwise.

Of course it is, you were proven wrong.

This type of trolling is way too similar with a certain banned member though. Dupe vibes written all over your account. :deadbanana4:

The fact you ignore most of the facts people have brought up and resort to personal insults about someone you don't know proves our point.

Your revisionist history ignores that Whites have never seen Latinos as White: during Segregation, Mexicans and other Latine folks were banned from white establishments (see pic above again), during Operation ******* the US literally deported US Nationals simply because they looked Mexican, numerous laws have tried to ban Spanish from being spoken in public, and Trump ran a whole Presidential campaign attacking Mexicans. But sure, language is the only issue...

The only "white" person is Rosalia. The others are Brown (some light-skinned, still Brown) women. Congrats to them! :clap3:
