Joanne had almost 0 hype outside the base leading to the release but did 205k :dies:

And what about it? Not the same release and you tend to forget SL's flop happened after ASIB and her winning the GP back (SB, Oscars, etc.).

Then how, pray tell, would you go about factually calculating where it would have debuted, without using anything made up or biased? Quickly.

You... can't? That's the point :rip:

It´s funny how Monsters often come up with scientific facts or calculations and than OGHs come in and scream about it without bringing any source in the discussion.

Interesting how they didn't seem to "mobilize to buy and stream" Dua Lipa (The Complete Edition) enough to get it into the Top 40 on the Billboard 200 when it came out, and yet somehow they're the ones who bought this leading to its #1 debut. Are you sure it's us who are coming up with the excuses?

SL Bombed, agreed

But that doesnt change the fact that GAGA can open BIG just by her name alone.. :dies:

The album was an underperformance, move on :rip:

It actually debuted with 847k but billboard reported it wrong for some reason.

Its cute how you ignored all the merch bundles that grossly inflated the album too.

It's cuter how you ignored that I did mentioned them:

Q: What about merch bundles?
A: Unless you work for Billboard, there's literally no way to know for sure how many of any album's sales came from merch bundles since they don't reveal such breakdowns. Because of this, there's not much room for that point in this conversation where we do have hard numbers to work with for other points.

SL turned off a lot of people despite the hype she had, who knows what would have happened without ROM's success right after? It necessarily helped to keep interest in her album :michael:

At least Chromatica served better longevity outside US :coffee2:

Is this thread not about the US? Where said album debuted with 100k+ and has managed better longevity?

So I guess it's a new narrative?

OT: The album flopped and was a critical underperformance as well.

Prob around 50k. Not to mention all the albums that were never delivered. 174k is probably closer to thr truth.

Also @Pop Art sis, this is a USELESS Thread.. sorry hun

already discussed last 2020.. OGHs turned a blind eye on this and they always will even if BB/Nielsen themselves breakdown the data.. :dies:

I mean, they pulled some insane mental gymnastics to call Chromatica Ball a FLOP/Disaster in that harmless CB Gross Thread :dies:

Well that we can agree on, I think this whole discussion is asinine, but clearly many people think Chromatica is nothing without x, y, and z and love to pretend it moved close to 0 units without them — my whole point here is to try and quantify that such logic is incorrect the best that factually can be done. There is no perfect method here.

And since there's no way to actually know that, your statement has just as much chance of being true as me claiming, say, that Katy Perry's next album will chart for more than a month and lead to a sold out global all-stadium tour. :michael:

Perfect Illusion also turned off a lot of casual listeners and fans :dies:.. ROM surely helped streaming wise but 95% of the album sales are Gaga's name alone.. are you saying Arianators and Blackpinks stans bought the album because of the collabs?? :dies:

In the end it´s a  #1 album that sold more than 1.0M units in the US with a #1 and a #5 single. These are good stats for a 6th studio album.

no they aren’t :rip:

TTT: 3x Platinum

Lemonade: 3x Platinum

Or maybe ROM being a hit also helped with the GP? :dies:

So you are saying that 25% of the sales came from tour bundles, Ariana and BP?

ROM was the current official single, of course it was the engine of the album since.....thats the purpose of a single. :deadbanana4:

You guys acting as if Free Woman was the 2nd single and ROM, an album track contributed to album's overall units the most. Now, in that case ur argument would make some sense, but now all of u haters are saying

"THE CURRENT OFFICIAL SINGLE RELEASED A WEEK BEFORE THE ALBUM CONTRIBUTED THE MOST TO THE ALBUM'S OPENING WEEK UNITS!!"

You can´t compare album sales/units from 2016 to 2020.

If we look at albums from this decade, only a few scanned 2x Platinum in the US (Taylor being the exception). Even the biggest era this decade is only 1x Platinum (Future Nostalgia) certified.

There... was no need for this research :dies: the album was successful regardless and she can buy her US Platinum certification whenever she feels like it

But how is that a drag?

A song that was planned to carry the album......carried the album ?!

FuTTHure NosTTHalgia crossed the 2.5 million mark months ago. That's counting both re-releases!
