Kim Petras - "If Jesus Was a Rockstar"

Umm wym problematique era was awful / traumatic / never want to relive. It started off strong with FSN but quickly crumbled. Let’s not do that again :deadbanana:

this era is basically starting off how Problematique did: lead single with a great single cover that she performed live before its release. But her begging for pre-saves is not promising. at least Unholy is still smashing (#3 on Hot 100). Maybe that’s enough for Republic to allow Kim to keep releasing. The next single better be upbeat!

Problématique era was a mess because FSN was a strong start and everything else that was teased was excellent. But absolutely nothing came out. This era seems to be the exact same but everything we've heard has been mediocre at best. I'm satisfied now that Problématique leaked tbh, I'm hoping this new album even matches its quality

It’s crazy isn’t it how we thought Problematique was bland?? Little did we kno how watered down they would make her

I don’t understand what is happening here, they have amazing tracks like Hit It From The Back & Revelations and they are going with this:ace:

The only possible reason I can think of for them choosing this is because Unholy is smashing and this song has Jesus in the title? Which if that is the reason it’s pretty tragic, but then this is ATRL so if we’re all not feeling it then the GP’s trash taste will probably love it so maybe it is a good choice:rip:

There's also a song called "Angel Dust" so idrthink so..

Revelations probably will be kept on the album, it has a religious theme like the other songs she’s teased so far

Her vocals sound so flat and lifeless. This is disappointing.

Or Love Ya Leave Ya cause she’s screaming Jesus there.

Song is very cute :heart2:

- She’s indeed sounding like Camila on the chorus nnn I like her voice though so no problem for me

- Production on the verses sounds a bit lifeless but it’s something I’ll get used to

- Chorus is sooo catchy and my favorite part of the song

- Sounds nothing like she released before and I love how she does something different every era. I hope the album follows that energy, I’m hyped

- Sounds ready for radio but idk if she’ll get plays. Republic better do something about it

- I love it and will overplay this a lot :chick3:

This is easily her worst song :/

Kim makes concept albums. There’s also another song titled Angel Dust and her new logo features a cross

The new era will probably be centered around that religious theme + Retro Americana aesthetic + personal lyrics since she said it’ll explore that

It just baffles me that this is the song she’s following up her #1 with … If she wanted to go the religious route she should’ve dropped Revelations

it’s cute. i wish the final chorus had a PUNCH though

this song is so boring and devoid of any personality that made kim petras who she is today.

I mean her lead singles have always been strong. IDWIAA, Broken (or is it Icy? I can never remember) and even FSN all served as the main idea for the record and to me we’re the most pleasing on all her albums. idk about this in comparison. Maybe it’ll flow better with the album.

Broken was released first but Icy was pushed as the single, idk its clear they're just releasing this because they're hoping Max Martin's name gets this more attention & widens her audience :rip:

This is flopping massively on TikTok despite her pushing multiple snippets, it's being panned everywhere besides the sheep Twitter and Insta cupcakes (shocker), and the release schedule was already so messy. At least she's serving visuals tho.

the song is cute and perfectly nice

i just don’t understand the demographic her team are aiming for or the strategy. her core fanbase isn’t going to be interested but i don’t think it’s strong enough to promote on streaming or radio.

I don’t think this is a song for TikTok, it’s for radio. Question…? is… will radio be on board? I don’t see it unless she does a radio tour and Republic uses some shameless payola

Lowkey wish this was a dual single. Jesus for radio and then a short, repetitive song that’s not too far from Jesus in terms of sound but more suitable for TikTok audience and those stupid dances. Like, going all out and see if something sticks :chick3:

Yeah the song is definitely not for TikTok which basically means it’s destined to flop… you can’t have a hit these days without a viral song

such a cute hit :angelo:

This is actually really cute. Don't know if it would be a hit, the pre-chorus is the only part that could be used for a trend sound on Tik Tok.

Also, someone needs to tell her to get rid of the sheepy Post Malone'esque vibrato, it's just horrible.

Pre-saves serves more of a way to boost a song popularity, it seems.

If it has good pre-saves then it'll appear on nice positions at playlists, which is why a lot of these B/C-list girls almost beg for fans to pre-save a new single

Pre-saves also requires you to grant the artist’s record label and marketing company full access to your music library, listening habits and history, etc.  I never pre-save for these reasons alone.  If you use Apple Music, it gives you a comprehensive list of what you’re signing over to them before you approve of it.
