I saw Mr Togekiss spilled very hard today.:jonny5:

Midnights isn't having a great stability on Spotify tbh. Multiple tracks are already doing lees than 200k daily which is already below MANY reputation / Lover / folkmore album tracks.

Expand

And ? The album Is new so people have listened to It recently plus no promotion. Do you really think these track of lover were making more 3 months after the album release? When It was at 5m streams Daily? Lover Is doing better now than then because a lot of songs have been added to playlists in the years, have gone viral on Tik Tok etc.

This Is how things work in streaming era, you need time to stabilize. You can't say is not doing good on Spotify with 16M streams on a 92day with only One single full promoted until now.

Exactly. Lover was literally doing 2.3-2.4 million daily at one point. Then the whole album exploded on spotify.

Midnights will do the same.

taylor has been writing silly songs her whole career. if you don’t like her putting campy songs in her albums maybe you just don’t like her as an artist but that’s clearly her vision for her albums. there are plenty of other artists to stan that don’t write campy lyrics but idk why you’d expect that from taylor swift. bejeweled and karma are also great pop songs.

The funny thing is, they act like taylor makes campy songs when it's other girls that make their whole career out of awful camp :)

she has 1-2 campy songs an album (I don't listen to lover)

and even then she's getting way better at it. Karma and bejeweled are actually really good pop songs

I agree with the music videos tho, the sketches need to at least be put at the end of the video or sumn :gaycat6:

I think not only do Bejeweled and Karma have more personality, but they are also witty and cleverly written. Future Nostalgia could be sang by literally anyone, and while it's great sonically, I think Midnights sounds equally as expensive, especially those two songs. Only Vigilante **** is a dud but I act like it doesn't exist so...

Expand

I guess “sound/feel expensive” isn’t the right way to put it, what I’m saying is I’m just tired of having to put up with silly lines or straight up silly songs, especially at her age and stage in her career. I don’t think vigilante **** or bejeweled or even karma are the worst offenders, I think duds like question (and Paris) should have never made it.

1989 is almost basically this imo, only Bad Blood taints it (SIO is camp done well).

Expand

Exactly, she’s done it before with folkmore and 1989. I will say her silly moment in 1989 is not even Bad Blood, it’s How You Get The Girl. That song literally serves no purpose (at least BB addresses some drama)

I haven’t been super close following Taylor this era. Why is LH not smashing harder? It should be!!

What is the current single or is it still AH?

Expand

Well LH hasn’t been properly pushed, but I doubt it’s gonna become the smash people expect even if she pushes it hard

Girl there’s a difference between cleverly crafted camp songs like say Karma (which I mostly hate just that cat line) and straight up cringe **** like half of lover and reputation. Even smash hero has that odd sexy baby line. And I don’t even want to include songs from Red and before because she was younger so she gets a pass (Stay stay stay being the first one that comes to mind). She can release fully fleshed out albums without silly songs (folkmore), or if there is one then make it at least tolerable (BB and HYGTG on 1989).

im just tired of random songs that should have been CUT from the album ruining that album’s run. Puta and lover would be much better pop albums if they were like 5 tracks shorter, Midnights wouldn’t drag in the middle had she not included question, bejeweled, and vigilante ****). She’s in her mid 30s and 10 albums in, time to drop the silly, badly done campy songs imo :giraffe:

Both these posts. :clap3:

People acting like Taylor’s goofy songs are American Pie level when they are Knives Out level of silliness actually. No offence. But she is actually that great because she doesn’t conceal both her positive nor negative sides and being dorky is authetnic to her. I mostly enjoy both her deeply self-relfection indulged songs ( This Is Me Trying ) and goofy ones ( Karma ) equally.
Her camp is actually mature and done right for the most part. And real. Not being pretentious saying that, but it literally is her case.

How is 16m daily after 3 months not great stability?

Folklore, Lover, Evermore, Red tv were all doing around 4-5m or less 3 months in.

If Midnights is doing bad then that means those albums were BOMBING real hard

As for those tracks doing 200k daily its expected from them considering they're bonus tracks for a reason...

I think Karma and BejEWeled are camp-pop done RIGHT which is VERY rare for her glitter gel'd songs. Her personality on those songs is up there with 22, WANEGBT, etc. Vigilante Turd is the real enemy. A horrid addition in her discography.

I personally don't really like this style of songs from her at all, with the exception of a few carefree bops and classics. I usually use the highs on each album and turn a blind eye on the rest nn. Maybe it's more obvious this time because of the way she marketed the album with the visuals and moody introspective descriptions.

I think it should be clear by now that Taylor will always have those childish campy songs. That's basically her brand at this point. If u cant accept that. Maybe Taylor just isnt for u:michael:

I personally dont mind them I actually like most of them. I dont think I wouldve decided to stan her if I didnt like them. Cuz she has a lot of them lol.

The takes in here are always so shocking to me :deadbanana2: like Taylor’s comedy and camp is fine and she uses it sparingly. Just because folklore is her best album (imo) doesn’t mean she needs to be so serious all the time :skull:

Sure, some are duds (Stay Stay Stay, Vigilante Sh*t, ME!). But I personally love songs like HYGTG, YNTCD, KOMH, Karma, Bejeweled, etc. and even the duds are still good enough that I will often let them play when they come on shuffle and sing along. I’m not saying you have to love everything she does, but if you don’t get her sense of comedy that’s honestly tough luck for you because being dorky / silly / catty has literally been a big part of her persona since Debut - it’s not going away

Isn‘t it amazing whenever Taylor does something, she is quickly compared to the biggest things going on at the moment, or the biggest things accomplished in music history?

Taylor releases a lead single. Stays 8 weeks at #1 and breaks the first day Spotify record. Over the weeks we saw comparisons with AIW and EOM, the biggest hits of the new decade.

Taylor released an album and it broke the all time Spotify daily and weekly record. From this point onwards people compared it for weeks to USVT and Sour, the biggest albums there are in the streaming world.

Than there is the opening week on the Billboard 200 and people check if she can do once more a 1 Million opening. Since 2015 Taylor has been compared to Adeles opening weeks, the artist who holds record for the biggest opening week in history.

Taylor announces she goes on tour. And people debate if she can break Ed Sheerans record, the ALL TIME RECORD. Or how big the tour is inflation adjusted.

Taylor gets an AOTY nomination and people will debate if she can win it once again. Despite she already won 3 times and reached a historic mark. Others wish they had a single one.

All this success and some people still think she could have even more success right now or doing bad desicions in her career. 17 years in the business.

I want to pay them all a visit personally and set their houses on fire, they have literal worms for brains. Imagine if all the energy they put into hating the music industry was placed towards finding a job, a house, a friend, a gym (fatties, I can tell), a personality, etc.

Its infuriating. But karma is the thunder, rattling their ground. Hehe.
