zasderfght Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 Maybe keeping ATRL more about the music? Some people on here act like they're experts on relationships, dating, and choices they believe people should make in their lives (specifically in The Lounge), when everyone's dating experiences varies wildly, everyone has a different barometer of what is considered acceptable and healthy for a relationship with themselves and others. When it turns into scolding people and their choices, and when people turn into armchair therapists, I cringe every time. Also, when this site turns into stan wars, it's not cute. Almost every thread is about dragging Demi Lovato and Katy Perry. Can we find something else to talk about? I'm not a fan of either artist, but it almost makes me like those fandoms more because they're not the ones constantly posting about how Gaga, Taylor, or Adele out streamed Katy Perry/Demi for the 50th time. Do you honestly think Gaga cares that you, an anonymous stranger she will never meet, is posting her Spotify streams? I'd be willing to guess not. And another thing: instead of talking about how you wouldn't date an overweight, black, and/or effeminate man, knocking "Smile" for the 50th time, or telling people they're the problem in the relationship, why can't you (and by extension, we) talk about what should unify us-- our love for pop music? ATRL is best when we keep it about discussing music we're looking forward to, the song comparisons can be fun (I remember participating in a few and getting excited when it would come down to the last 3 albums tracks that made the ATRL cut), and learning about potential l-words and new music the GP doesn't know about or isn't privy to.

Some nice to have’s: -Revamp engagement features such as ATRL+ - Leave registration permanently open. - Increase the site’s social media presence. Pop culture is discussed on the daily on the internet but ATRL is totally closed to its niche audience. It’s like a dying popstar being on a shitty label refusing to promote or release anything. - Rebuild the sense of community that was lost somewhere in 2016+. These are points I most agree with. But I mean TPTB could start by giving us dark mode.

I know I should probably not take social media as seriously as I do, but I do think people can joke/troll in a way that's tactful.

The C-squad, as I believe they were called, was indeed extremely funny This forum in general was truly such an engaging environment before. I’m not sure why it stopped being so, but now I just use it to stay up to date on pop culture and rarely even post
October Symphony Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 - legal, permanent open registration. - and why the h*ll the new member can’t make any thread? - build the wall around biased mods and they’re gonna pay for it. - tariffing the 503.
Leptine Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 The forum obviously will never return like it was years ago at its peak, it made sense to be in that way back in the day, now personally at least I don't see the point of reopening problematic threads like SYG or allow people to make the usual stale old shady threads with less restrictions, majority of the users in here are over their middle 20s, people at a certain point should also start act their age avoiding childish behaviours or stale stan wars. The real priority would be fixing the server and site.

Gwendolyn Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Buying new servers, a new look and getting more younger members would be a start.
