jocelyn was a child star and now wanna be a mature sexy popstar - selena disney girl to revival era

the moans in the new version of i'm a freak/world class sinner - selena's moans in good for you?? wtf

jocelyn cancelled her world tour - selena has cancelled both stars dance and revival tours due to her health

am I delusional or what? abel you ain't slick :deadbanana2:

They are definitely inspired by lots of pop girls but it's clear it's mostly inspired by Britney. Breakdown, Blackout to Circus era, controlling team, cancelled tour (residency in Britney's case), Abel's character - Sam Lutfi, dancing, even Jocelyn's appearance

:lakitu: astral projecting during any of the so called sexual scenes has helped me survive the first two episodes but the preview for next episode seems a bit darker so I'll be continuing this.

I think the show is about mainly about the life of basically any girl in the music industry, but personally, it seems like The Weeknd also took some inspiration from Selena and Britney mostly. The Weeknd and Selena were even dating at some point so it would make sense for him to base this about her. Another plot similar is Selena's best friends are also her assistents AND live with her lol :deadbanana2:

Abel saying those things and singing them are complete opposites :deadbanana2:

They really got Jennie to say  being his best ****.:deadbanana4:

HBO also notes that the premiere of The Idol has grown to 3.6 million viewers over its first week, a roughly fourfold increase over its opening night. That puts it a little ahead of the series premieres of Euphoria (3.3 million viewers) in 2019 and The White Lotus (3 million) in 2021. (Euphoria creator Sam Levinson is also a co-creator of The Idol, along with Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Reza Fahim.)

Recast the Weeknd, cut the cringy '50 shades of grey' scenes and the show is actually good.

Lily Rose is good.

I can't at Abel wanting to play the 'Tombeur de femmes' without even showing a harm in a cheap ugly wig, it's not realistic at all :rip:

Regardless, his performance is so bad, he's truly giving 'dead behind the eyes', he doesn't have charisma or charme at all on camera, a famous gorgeous popstar falling in that way for him is not credible at all and the worst part is that I think he's truly in that way in the real life.

I completly get why people either love or hate this show, I honestly liked it so far yes there are some things I could change but so far Im entretained

Episode 2 was creat

1st half of the episode DAMN!!! Lily :clap3: she is such an actress, she is doing a fantastic job at this show

Jennie is coming for Jocelyn wig??? OMG I did not see that one coming

2nd part of the episode was weird, the main problem is that Abel yes he supose to be creepy, nasty & distubing but the thing he does not have is the seductive part, how Jocelyn is basically in love with him??  that's the part I struggle to understand, even Izaac had more the seductive part.  anyway I hope they show less sex fantasy parts

Episode 3 trailer looks

Woxjiwj The Weeknd definitely doesn’t have the sex appeal to make his character believable. His face is so unsexy and stiff, which make every scene he’s in so hard to watch!

other than The Weeknd horrible acting , unnecessary nudity and unwanted sex scene, it’s pretty enjoyable.

Make it make sense that he’s dated several pop girlies and supermodels IRL then.

Y’all do know that historically those famous cult leaders got all the ***** despite being ugly, creepy sleazebags? It’s all about the allure, not the sex appeal and Jocelyn is lost, broke(n), lonely, insecure and looking for direction. The sex scenes and dialogue in them are supposed to be giving you semi-cringe and throw you off from an outside perspective because, once again, dude is a manipulative, abusive, weird creep.

I’m convinced at least half of you wouldn’t be acting this dense and overly critical about it if Rolling Stone, critics and Twitter hadn’t planted a lame narrative and told you you can’t like it because it’s anti-woman or whatever tf.

Thing is he's not supposed to play himself on the show :rip: What's the correlation with the character he is playing? Of course he dated models in real life, he's one of the most famous male popstars :rip:

Tones of famous and rich men a lot less attractive than him had relationships with gorgeous women and models, but he's not supposed to playing one of them or once again himself.

You literally just quoted a post saying this:

I mentioned charisma and charme, things that cult leaders use to have, it's not about sex appeals only, but he doesn't have both things and for this kind of roles they both were required.

They didn't create a building narrative and relationship for his character, they made the female lead falling for him immediately at first sight.

Those scenes are not credible in my opinion, they feel unecessary and try hard, it's not easy playing the villain, it's a role that requires more effort, you either have it or not that is why they're the roles that stand out more.

I couldn't care less about his personal life or what RollingStones-critics say, I'm watching tv shows since ever and I can judge by myself if an actor is doing a good job or if they fit a role, you don't need to be an expert anyway, his performance and him not fitting the role is under the eyes of everyone blatantly.

it’s the fact that people are still going on and on about Abel not being “sexy” for this part when literally this is the whole point :rip: you’re not supposed to find this character sexy wtf??? the point is to feel uneasy and weirded out by the whole thing, you’re not supposed to like him or want to bottom for him on grindr you freaks.

imagine watching something that triggers you so much and complaining about it constantly instead of maybe…stop watching? :deadbanana2:

the horrible writing in this :deadbanana4:

the scene in the first episode where they are discussing pop music and The Weeknd’s character is like “BUT PRINCE!!!!!!” :deadbanana4:

The Weeknd being so insecure about himself that he still hasn’t shown any of his skin, not even full arms or just shirtless, yet we see these young actresses boobs and asses all the goddamn time :deadbanana4:

So we are not supposed to be attracted to him but also supposed to believe a hot pop star fell for him no matter how broken she is :rip:how is the audience gonna buy the "cult leader" schtick if he's not supposed to be liked? Cult leaders are portrayed as charismatic, seductive even caring and he didn't pull that off not one bit. This is NOT the part for him

Yeah this show is just not it for me and just makes me feel super uncomfortable. It's just really exploitative disguised as art. Sucks because Lily is actually giving a great performance. I was only interested in watching for Jennie but I'm getting second hand embarrassment for her involvement in this no offense. All of this wreaks of trauma porn.
