What I love most about this is that it really proves to all the recalcitrant poo-heads in the music business that the main thing people want ARE GREAT SONGS. It doesn't matter if the track isn't Pro Tool'd and Melodyne'd to perfection with 200 individual tracks. Or if it doesn't fit radio. Or if it's over 4 minutes. Or if it doesn't have lyrics "that a 14 year could get". They just want great songs. "Dated" doesn't exist. If it's great, it's great. Marketing matters, obviously, this broke out initially because of the emotional impact of the Stranger Things episode, but at this point it's crossed over big time and is behaving like a current smash hit. I am willing to bet most of the people streaming it now have not watched Stranger Things, they just became exposed to a great song for the first time and loved it.
