unclefloprry Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 The amount of hits these beaches have. Sad that only Dua is the only relevant nowadays.

Illuminati Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 (edited) I really think it has something to do with them looking racially ambiguous in a similar way as the Kardashians. Like if you asked some people about Rita Ora they'd probably think she's at least mixed black, if not actually black. Even Dua or Ava who have lighter complexity have unique features that make them interesting to the public and anything that makes people want to google them is good for business. They're an indigenous European people who speak an Indo-European language. As such their whiteness is not a matter of dispute in the academic world. Ava is very much a white American woman who benefits from white privilege. Rita, on the other hand, has received flack from UK media for trying to pass as ethnically ambiguous through excessive tanning when she's a white European woman. Another Ariana Grande case.
idkwiam Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Because Albanians are the epitome of excellency. @Bloodflowers. You should enjoy the best Albanian duet of all times. You probably know her from Eurovision. The instrumental. The vocals. The Excellence.

We do consider ourselves white. I mean, we're not Asian or African... Knowing how Albanians are, they would always consider themselves Albanian. No matter what's written on their passport. They're very proud people.

Yes they seem very proud of their heritage, that's why I don't want to be disrespectful and claim that they consider themselves simply as white people. Some North Africans are light skin but they don't consider themselves as white people for example. @KOMH @Rotunda
illia Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 and the way everyone forgot about Era Istrefi and her HUGE European smash she deserved to be as famous but idk what happened

The mafia comments are dumb, unfounded and a tad xenophobic. Should we start applying that argument to the amount of Italians achieving stardom as well? yes

They are half Armenians and Khloe is half mixed since O.J. Simpson is her rumor father lol. Not sure they consider themselves 100% white.

But you're right, if we would go off by passport. I'm Dutch and Ava is American. But Ava doesn't sit on the same boat as, say, Katy Perry or Taylor Swift, heritage wise. Yes you can be racially white, have citizenship in one country, and have a different heritage as well.

She can if she consider herself like that (as @Patient Zero) , but I won't put her in a white people box only if she doesn't want to be in. When I said White Americans Pop Singers on Spotify, I was thinking of Britney or Taylor style (singers from Americans descendants), that's it!

Patient Zero Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I do get what the good sis @Yudelkis is trying to say, though. The "white race" category is very big and for many people confusing. For example: A Lebanese or Egyptian person with USA citizenship would also be labeled as "white american". Because Lebanese and Egyptians are white as well* Technically true. But it is a form of white washing. *but never treated as such. I guess that's for another topic.
KOMH Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 16 minutes ago, Bloodflowers. said: Britney and Taylor are native Americans? #TheMoreYouKnow Britney and Taylor are of Anglo-Celtic stock, like most white Americans. Ava and other Albanians would typically be categorised as Eastern European. Unlike Rita, she very rarely spray tans or tries to pass as racially ambiguous. At the end of the day, they're all white European/Caucasian people that benefit from white privilege and could pass as any other European ethnic group. Some Americans (typically Neo-Nazis) believe that in order to be entirely white, you must be Anglo-Celtic or Northern European, which is not supported by academia or science at all.
