Kendrick kind of fell massively

WW - 56.5 M

US - 28.6 M

I was just looking at this when I saw that AIW went up to #1 global and +11 in the US... I can never remember what numbers are normal and what numbers aren't for this sort of thing. Is this normal or is it too much?

Thats kinda a harsh drop. I thought he would hold up well tbh

It's probably the worst drop from the big openers. For context

WW Second Day:

Donda - 104 M (+9%)

Scorpion - 103 M (-22%)

Un Verano - 99.9 (-31%)

CLB - 89.9 (-41%)

Red TV - 64.6 M (-29%)

TUN - 59.7 M (-15%)

Mr. Morales - 56.5 (-44%)

Plus AM is dropping already too. I don't think this is going to stick.

Yikes, that makes me sad. I'm not a huge fan of hip hop in general, but I know how highly anticipated this album was and Kendrick seems like a nice guy

Thank you for the context!

Yikes..

I feel bad. The album is great. But it’s not something that you want play over and over again.

Seems to be following CLB, albums they aren’t bad but don’t have the instant hit factor like previous releases. Although, I’d say CLB got worse reception upon release.

CLB definitely didn't have the same level of acclaim as this, it has a 60 on metacritic. I think a better judgement for this album will be where it ranks on year end lists

Yeah, this is not going to stick

WW - 41.3 (+5%)

US - 19.4 (+4%)

Why do you say that? It gained on a Monday. That's a good sign.

I think CLB is the only big album I can think of that dropped on a Monday. And that was a holiday, iirc. It's still on the lower end of the growth, lowest on albums I track. Single digit growth is usually a sign that a single is not sticking (folklore, off season).

Oh, I didn't know that.

Yeah, this is dropping hard daily, although it may somehow stabilize but the thing is that there's no smash carrying the album so its longevity may be hurt by it.

In the streaming age where numbers are driven by repeated listens, some music won't serve peak longevity because they're not casual listens and thats fine. It'll stabilise at a lower average than those other albums

WW - 35.08 (-15%)

US - 16.60 (-15%)
