Why did this thread need 26 pages? Why not focus on changing things in your every day life instead of fighting about who's more/less XYZ? Why bring up PBS documentaries from 90 years ago? Who tf cares. I swear the left(which is what I/mostly everyone here is) rather out "woke" each other instead of focus on the threat at hand. Yes, things that happen in the past still have repercussions but how much longer are we going to pretend that it's still 1947? Move the **** on and better yourselves instead of festering in misery. It's a great song/cd. Try to look at the bigger picture instead of being so stuck on a singular though.

Sooo we should just plug our ears and "get over it"? Lol thats rich.

Lol no one is here trying to out woke each other (except for that one user i shall not name)

We're giving valid criticism over the use of a homophobic slur used in a song. Theres nothing wrong with that

Only on a forum about discussion do users get mad at you for discussing

I promise you this is a bold assumption.

And that's fine, I'm sure you'd have better insight. I can only comment on the very few threads I see.

It's human nature to have disagreements however maybe it's time to ignore the 'hot takes' that you disagree with.

In current times *****/er and ****** should both be words that's forgotten. I absolutely don't support the reclaiming bs. Let it go. Let it die. Situations as this will always remain as long as the long is kept alive.

The fact that if a white artist used the word, the N word or racism wouldn't even be coming into discussion in this thread, and it certainly wouldn't reach 20+ pages so quickly. :skull:

It's absolutely valid to not be okay with him saying the *** regardless of the context and to criticise him for it, but if you can't express that without bringing up the N word or racism up then this is how you come across:

"It's not fair! If he can say the *** then we should be allowed to say the N word!!

Or straight people shouldn’t use the f slur and non black people shouldn’t use the N word :coffee2:

No wonder a lot of the Black community is homophobic.

For the “greatest artist alive” he probably could’ve come up with a different word.

@Bloo yeah, It didn't take long to realize what you meant.

He didn’t need to say it to make his point come across.

Both of these posts are correct. Just like a Caucasian Joe Rogan could have made his "point" without explicitly saying the n-word over and over and over again, non-homosexual Kendrick Lamar could have made his "point" without saying the f-slur over and over and over again. If you're not a homosexual, don't say the f-slur, if you're not a Black person, don't say the n-word. "The rules" couldn't be any more simple. All of that being said, this is also a non-issue—a rapper said the f-slur? Shocking. "Cancelling" hip hop artists will never work (deal with it). That only works for Caucasian pop girls.

All of these can also be applied to the word ***** being used as a slur for women too, but you can bet that the majority of ATRL uses that word every day of their lives

Well thankfully this forum doesn’t usually downplay misogyny even though it loves downplaying homophobia!

Kendrick says the f* slur and it gets a 25 page discussion but Terrorist-state Israel attacks journalists funeral  gets 3 pages

y'all are so self obsessed and lack self awareness

ATRL is a pop culture forum centered around pop music. Obviously celebrity news is going to get more attention. Shireen Abu Akleh's murder is tragic and unacceptable, but I just find this type of moralizing on ATRL a bit odd.

if this thread was about somebody using the n* slur it def wouldn't have got as much hype. Again gay men feel the need to insert themselves into everything, woohoo a rap artist that 90% of atrl don't listen to said the f* slur

I thought this too, this is the response to that:

A cishet man like Hasan has no place to speak on this issue. The fact the word is more normalized is exactly why you shouldn't be using it plainly in a song which only furthers its normalization.

Camila is literally roasted on the daily for using the n-word as a teenager. If a major pop girl used the n-word in a new song, it would be the hit thread of the week.

This. It's ok to be pist and it's ok to let it out. Everyone is validated. I hope y'all just vote, if you want to work towards meaningful change.
