Good! hopefully this is a trend for all these networks doing their “+” stuff to just get more money out of people, sick

As someone who watches CNN, the rollout was an absolute disaster.  Most people who signed up were under the impression that access to CNN's live cable news channels (CNN, CNN International, & HLN) was included.  However, this is not the case at all because watching them still requires a cable TV subscription.  Thus, CNN+ is basically worthless if you were trying to get access to their normal everyday programing and breaking news coverage.

I'm guessing this isn't CNN's fault completely though as most TV providers would probably threaten to drop them if they included access to their regular news channels for only $6 a month.

Should have been added to HBOMAX instead; especially if no live channels are included. :celestial5:

Agreed 100%, and that's probably what will end up happening if they don't shut down completely.  Warner, their parent company, is currently working to combine HBO Max and Discovery+ into one platform so adding CNN+ as well wouldn't be a stretch.

As someone who does not watch cable news, this never made any sense. CNN, MSNBC, etc. are attractive to older audiences because it’s live TV. That’s a format older demographics are familiar with. So if CNN+ is completely different content from their live content, then what’s the point? CNN+ trying to get young viewers with a paid subscription is just…. Out-of-touch at best. This was always doomed to fail and it’s a bit fun to watch it happen.

CNN and Fox News should both be illegal :clap3:

Who on Earth greenlit this :dies: It’s an even bigger failure than Quibi. No one wants to pay for CNN, period. Beyond having largely garbage punditry, it’s mostly just a channel that plays in the background at the dentist and airports. It’s not an intellectual news source like the NYT and it’s sure as hell not HBO-level quality entertainment worth paying for.

Exactly.  I watch both CNN and HLN daily for news but have no desire to subscribe to CNN+.  None of the content appeals to me.

For example, I like Chris Wallace, but I don't care what random person is talking to him on CNN+.  However, I would potentially watch him reporting the day's news.  Why not give him the vacant 9pm slot on CNN that Chris Cuomo used to have?  Same idea with Jake Tapper, I don't care about his book club on CNN+.  I want to watch him reporting the news on The Lead, and conducting interviews Sunday on State of the Union. :michael:

Honestly, if CNN+ offered regular CNN, $6 a month would be an absolute steal and many people, myself included, would probably cancel their TV subscriptions.  At this point, I basically pay $100+ for cable TV just so I can watch CNN, HLN, and MSNBC. :emofish:

Why don’t you try Sling? You can get Sling Blue for $35 a month and it comes with all those channels and more. That would be a much better option if those are the channels you care about. Only downside is no DVR if I’m not mistaken.

People in this thread are delusional if they think CNN should go under. They are the one who send journalists to the ground. Your favorite online political commentators are just that- commentators. They don't have the budget or the resources to do thorough investigation. These online political gurus just leech off the articles from these media sites. In fact, YouTube should work out a model where they MUST compensate to the real sources.

CNN needs to go back to its roots- y’know actual reporting with full facts, features that made CNN popular in the first place. This is so beneath what they should be doing :rip:

The whole point of CNN is to watch it live on a small TV in the kitchen

This and Netflix losing subscribers GOOD MORNING TO ME :clap3:

Watching the media outlets just utterly flop and lose their market share has just been... delicious. Ngl. If any company deserves to fail, it's CNN.

This was a risky venture tbh

I’ll have to look into that.  Initially cable wasn’t bad because I had a bundle deal with internet but now it’s expired. :chick3:

Yeah, that's how they get you. The Internet Service Providers are desperate to combat cord cutters in any way they can. Sling offers a free trial so you can try it before making any payments. Hopefully it works for you and you can save some coins.

I also watch CNN when I watch cable news, because there are limited options (my cable offers four at the moment, CNN, MSNBC, Fox, and I24).  However, if I'm on my phone I have a plethora of other options beyond CNN that I can look at, and I'm subscribed to Apple News which carries a lot of these options already.   So CNN+ would make absolutely no sense to me as a consumer and it doesn't surprise me that it's flopping.
