what is wrong with these lyrics?
Lizzo is writing her own music and all her songs have a meaning for her. Special: “After ‘Rumors,’ I received a lot of backlash. I think it was because people hadn't heard from me since Cuz I Love You and this was their opportunity to attack me because I was visible, you know? But I turn my pain into music. I turn my pain into profit. I make it work for me. So I went into the studio to write a song for myself that would remind me how special I am. In the second verse, I say, ‘Could you imagine a world where everybody's the same? And you could cancel a girl ’cause she just wanted to change? How could you throw ******* stones if you ain't been through her pain? That's why we feel so alone, that's why we feel so much shame.’ I was trying to flip the mirror on people, that same mirror that I check myself with. It’s me saying, ‘You attack people like they're the monster, but you've become the monster.’ No one's giving anyone the space to be themselves, to show their specialness, and to grow.”

Do you really think those lyrics were deep?

In case nobody told you today

You’re special

In case nobody made you believe

You’re special

It sounds like lyrics you’d hear in a Barney song or something :priceless:

I mean that’s cool, and if they appreciate the lyrics that’s great. My only point was they’re very simplistic lyrics. Most of the songs on the album are full of simplistic lyrics. And if that’s your thing, great! It’s just not the kind of thing I typically enjoy.

Spotify US
#7(+4) - About Damn Time - 986,913
#32 - 2 Be Loved - 481,739
#103 - Grrrls - 309,185
#123 - The Sign - 282,839

ADT does much better outside the US, I didn't expect that.

That horrid song became a hit only thanks to her label throwing money at radio and Tic Tac so no wonder the album ?. Though I am sure her label will invest more payola in the coming days to make this insipid album look somewhat successful.

I just now realize that Rumors isn’t on the album. I’m not understanding as to why.

pretty sure it was just a buzz single to get Lizzo’s name back out there again. hopefully if there’s a deluxe she tacks it on there because Cardi’s verse is amazing :keir:

I didn’t expect Lizzo to have an album bomb on the charts (every song charting)

but I at least thought 2BL would do better, especially in the US her main market

it wasn't added to TTH. it did better than About Damn Time on its first day.

I'n actually really surprised at how poorly this is performing. Here in the UK she's struggling.

iTunes - #3

Apple Music - #4

Amazon - #14

Spotify (2 songs charting) - 353,320

I thought it would be a surefire #1. :doc:
