Of course the next leader isn’t going to be good either because there are no good tories, but they carry this burden which is a positive regardless. I’m not sure about a precedent. I reckon conservative voters will just consider Boris a blip and view his replacement as an improvement regardless of how good they actually are. The “straw” that broke the camel’s back for these resignations was that Boris appointing a known sexual assaulter to Chief Whip. …However what really buried him is that the Conservative Party are haemorrhaging support. They’re losing the gains they got from Labour and losing safe Tory seats to the Lib Dem’s. Boris was very nearly ousted in a no-confidence vote by his own party a few weeks ago. Basically he was hanging on because he led the Conservatives to a huge majority under the mandate of “getting Brexit done” (something Theresa May couldn’t do - although he managed to secure a worse deal than what Theresa had managed). It was all bravado and hot air that eventually fizzled away and the Conservative Party is in trouble because of it. The UK is ******.
