probably. they have a seat in brighton and there's i think one in bristol they might win? otherwise it's not likely to do much good

that said, if you already have a labour mp there's probably no need to vote for them again if you really don't feel like it (who does tbh)

camila video premiers at the same time, i feel like there must be a connection

depends on where you live. afaik Greens are targeting Brighton and Bristol, everywhere else they have little chance of winning. if you live in a constituency that's safe for Labour I'd encourage to vote Green.

Ugh I'll be in London just before and on election day, is it gonna be chaotic during that time?!

I don't think you would notice anything out of the norm, unless you're staying next to a polling station

idk if i'm just telling people things they already know or not but i think it's fair to point out that this is the first general election where voters will have to bring photocard ID to the polling station to vote. these will NOT include most ID generally issued for young people (student cards, young person's railcards, etc) because those people don't vote tory. passports and driving licences are the main things you can use.

if anyone doesn't have ID for these elections, i think the easiest thing to do is apply for a postal vote, which can be done up to 11 working days (a little over 2 weeks) before polling day

https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote

you can also apply for a government ID card but these are new and idk how well tested the application system is

Sunak Blindsided His Own Chancellor With Early UK Election Call

Ministers question decision to call vote amid huge polling gap

Disagreement raises questions about party unity in campaign

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's decision to stake the Conservative Party's future on a rare summer election was so secret that even his chancellor of the exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, appeared surprised by the plan.

Hunt's allies were unaware enough of the snap election called by Sunak on Wednesday that some feared a rumored big announcement meant that the chancellor was about to be replaced in a reshuffle, according to people familiar with thinking in the Treasury. As the prime minister prepared to reveal his decision in a news conference outside 10 Downing St., Hunt was busy canceling media appearances to speak about the morning's inflation data and shortening a trip to a meeting of Group of Seven finance ministers on Thursday in Italy.

I am surprised that there aren't any references to Rain On Me or Firework yet. :gaygacat3:

this is one of those things where i'd expect hodges to talk about it like it was some kind of incredible 5D chess move, can't believe they've managed to unite everyone behind how stupid this is (i think they're backing off already in fact?)

i actually think it was a smart move. Tories are currently bombing awfully in the polls so they have nothing to lose, at least they got the all the headlines for three days straight. they can only benefit from stunts like these, regardless of how dumb they are.

well i guess if they're only trying to appeal to mean old b*stards then it's a strategy?
