Adele Addict Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 I was at a press screening for Wakanda Forever last week before it officially came out, and the audience reactions said it all. This was BY FAR the best Marvel movie since Endgame, and I thought it was an incredibly fitting tribute to Chadwick Boseman and the legacy he left behind. They handled his passing perfectly without ever compromising the development of the other characters, and I really think he would’ve been so proud of the film they made. I can’t wait to go see it again.

305 Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Omg! That was incredible. My expectations were all over the place because I didn't know how they could top the first and also with Chadwick being gone I didn't know how they could work with it but they did and they did it beautifully! The world building of the water people was amazing and the whole mythology surrounding them was amazing. I was a bit concerned about how this movie seemed to be dominated by women and that it would be blatantly feminist and it wasn't at all. All the actresses did so well and were captivating. I'm not sure if I can say if it was better than the first but I also can't say that it was "worse." To me they are two separate movies yet they come together beautifully. The end was SO well done and answers many questions about the future of the franchise. Also Namor is SOOO FINE. Goddamn I could not take my eyes off of him, he's incredibly sexy and his accent is hot. I hope to see more of him ?
X~MoviePoP Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Ok so i finally watched it. Im sorry yall, ive been defending this movie because of people i know who saw it and footage ive seen..but its a 6.5 out of 10...i hate to say it. Felt like they rushed the grieving/funeral/death scenes. I couldnt really get effected by the tragedies because they moved on from them so fast. I did not like who became black panther, lacked alot of special sauce. After credit scene was definitely last minute and felt...idk..iffy? But i understand it. Needed more action. Did NOT like riri williams (wayyy too much comedy and was very annoying by the end of the film). Best Parts where the deep underlining meanings about Mexican culture/mayans/indigenous slavery ect. Loved how many latinos showed up to my theatre (i was shocked). The underwater city did not HIT like it should of and the Cgi wasnt that good. In the end i just kept wanting more.

Also 67M figure isn't bad. zzmyth Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 The movie will be closing to 300M US only by the end of weekend #2. And will add another 150M to the WW total this week. That means around 600M WW by weekend #2 This definitely will end up around 500M US and 1B WW
Imogene Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Yikes, 63% drop in 2nd week. It'd be lucky to come anywhere near 800M WW. 1st BP ended on such a positive note. Recasting was the right choice. The sequel is turning into another blow for Marvel. Coming right after that She Hulk mess is also a challenge.
MrYorkshireFenty Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Amazing sequel and movie. They were tasked with something impossible due to Chadwicks death - but the outcome was really well done.
IsidoraMarí Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 (edited) Everyone seems to have loved the movie and plan on seeing it again. I doubt it makes less than 100 million in the USA this weekend. Edited November 17, 2022 by IsidoraMarí

Thor did 46M in the second weekend, did less in its openning, and it managed to get to around 340M in the US and 760M WW. This is definitely doing around 50% more in the end.

Theshigo Washidu Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 The film was amazing . I was literally close to tearing up during the start and end of the flim.
Gorjesspazze9 Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 (edited) it’s pass 400M this morning and people said it won’t make over 100 million this week? it’s definitely will. Also Definitely will pass 600M next week. Detractors Fume ? Edited November 17, 2022 by Gorjesspazze9
Corefield Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 (edited) OMG I’m so late, I’ve seen every MCU movie in theaters on opening weekend, almost every Thursday, but this time I was in vacation in another country and decided me and my boyfriend would see this one when we came back (not because I was less excited, it was one of my most anticipated movies since the first Black Panther). I tried to avoid spoilers but thankfully, it is not a movie about surprises, spoilers and rumors. It felt very human and honest. Me & my partner had a badtripping drug addict right next to us who kept talking throughout the whole movie. IT WAS AWFUL. We kept telling her to stop talking and it was all for nothing. I still enjoyed the movie quite a lot. Anyway, Letitia Wright was amazing, I felt like she earned the title role at the end of the movie. Angela Bassett was the highlight of the film, she really deserves some recognition. Danai Gurira was as fabulous as ever. Nakia was the warm and gentle soul of the movie. Namor was absolutely terrifying, beautiful and fearless. All in all, probably the best movie of phase 4. Ryan Coogler for Secret Wars, please. Edited November 18, 2022 by Corefield

She has such a presence and cheekbones that could cut glass. I couldn’t help but feel she was underused even as a comic relief. I do have an inkling, it might be her preference to take on a smaller role in MCU because she’s a writer first n foremost and we know how marvel has a gridlock on actors that are signed to multiple films. ———————————————- I finally saw the movie last night. First I’m just so proud that my theatre in white ass Switzerland. The novelty of having a predominantly Black cast tent pole movie will never wear off for me. Things I enjoyed: -The introduction of Namor: his look, backstory, rationale -The costumes & make-up (Budget got fatter) -Acting (Angela Bassett in particular was a knockout) -Tribute to Chadwick. I thought they handled it with utmost delicacy and respect. You can feel their reverence emit through the screen. -The surprise cameo -Underwater world. This also falls under con Things that could’ve been better - Underwater world. I think the is where the lighting issues were most prominent -Climatic battle. Too many cuts, couldn’t really appreciate the choreography. Midnight Angels could’ve been used better. -Mbaku’s cliffhanger -Absence of a certain avenger at the funeral

Lol the reason there isn’t a ton of fighting is the same reason we get a lot of development around Namor instead of seeing him like a normal villian, and that we are shown a ton of Talokan kingdom to humanize them rather then make them typical bad guys. They are having a conversation about conflict and how the conflict itself is the issue rather than painting one “side” of this as bad. They’re all justified in needing to protect what is theirs. I think it’s much more effective without a ton of fighting scenes. It’s allowing the movie to remain hopeful despite everything going on, and drives a message of humanity and showing the impact conflict can have. You’d lose out on great character moments and world building sacrificing scenes to random action that can be found all through the MCU already The lack of action critique is the most nonsensical to me. I seriously roll my eyes when I see it. I’m guessing it’s coming from comic book fanboys who are only in it for the thrill. It’s not a video game lol.
DONTYELLATME Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 This movie felt like it was missing something but I can’t find it. Idk it felt bloated and overfilled, and the build up just didn’t pay off for me.
KFC Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 Going to watch the movie again tonight, I really hope they make the screen as bright as possible so I can make out whats happening in the nighttime scenes this time
