So I bingewatched Happiness...

Now THIS IS HOW YOU CLEAR A BITXCH!

It outsold All of us are dead, Squid Game & Sweet Home by doing the exact opposite of what these shows were doing:clap3:It also helped that the main leads were engaging and likeable, not every post-apocalyptic-esque show has that to their credit.

I'm glad you liked it, I loved it too

I also liked those three series that you named, but ironically Happiness is the one that cost the least and had the least promotion, and the quality is superior to the others:clap3:

I kinda lived for the second part of the show better than the first part (though they could have split the last episode into 2 episodes).

I finally done with Replay1988, it was a good representation of korean families but girl almost 2 hours per episode is kinda sick, especially when there's a lot of repetitive things :gaycat6: Now I wanna watch Jirisan, I hope it will be good :gaycat2:

Attorney Woo started so strong but it went downhill after that Mr. Fart episode like wtf was that even about :rip: The finale was so rushed too like were any plot lines apart from that case closed? :deadbanana2: I think they're trying for a season 2 but like at least take care of your breakout season first

I need new kdramas to start serving with the osts again

How in a hell Jirisan has only 8.2 on MDL, they just love to manipulate with rating. So far very tense thriller/drama with good mystery plot, I just knew that Ji Hoon is not gonna disappoint :gaycat2:

So I finally gave in and started 'Suspicious Partner'

So far it's okay and it's good that episodes are only 30 minutes.

I wonder why the male lead hates the attorney (the second male lead) that represented the female lead? Was he the one the male lead's previous girlfriend cheated on the ML with? (I skipped a bit that scene in the first episodes cause it was embarassing so I don't remember if they showed the face of the guy that was with the previous gf of the ml). It seems like the ml has a grudge on the 2nd ml for no reason, so that's my guess so far (I'm on ep5 out of 40)

I have a "review" (sorry for the way I express myself in writing, english isn't my first language) of the first season of Alchemy of Souls (20 episodes averaging around 1h10min each episode).

This is an enjoyable show that will make you fall in love with its characters. The story manages to shine through a talented cast, anchored by Jung So Min who gives a strong and charismatic performance as Mudeok/Naksu/Buyeon. I believe the enjoyability of this series would have greatly suffered had it not been for her inspired casting when the rookie actress who was initially casted to portray the female lead dropped out. This show needed someone experienced, that can properly emote, and who knows how to serve charisma and chemistry. So Min's proficiency is really visible in the way she manages to click and have chemistry not only with the main lead (a much improved Lee Jae Wook - at least from his Extraordinary You days when he got unlucky with a one note chraracter) but also with the secondary romantic option (Hwang Min Hyun of NU'EST and WANNAONE fame, perfect as the 2nd lead destined to never get the girl's heart) and the third (mostly implied) romantic option (Shin Seung Ho - who proves his chops through the great comedic relief that he provides in his portrayal of Crown Prince Go Won, a slightly self-absorbed young man with a heart of gold).

The "young" main cast is completed by Oh My Girl (stream Dolphin and Dun Dun Dance)'s Arin and BaekSang Best New Actor nominee Yoo In Soo (best known for his standout performance in "All of us are dead"). While Arin's Cho Yeon is underutilized compared to her male counterparts that make up the quarter known as the 4 seasons, she manages to capably portray a young pampered up noblewoman who struggles between finding love and preparing for a role that was not meant for her, that of the leader of the Jin clan, one of the 4 mage noble families in Daeho. She also manages to shine a light on the fantastic costume design in the series, through her outfits. Yoo In Soo gives life to Park Dang Gu, the nephew and heir of the leader of Songrim, a happy go lucky type of guy and manages to show both bromance and romantic chemistry with different characters in AoS.

The supporting cast, consisting mostly of experienced character actors but also of rookies looking to start their careers do a great job at creating roles that fit into the magical world imagined by the Hong Sisters, and at making you love them, hate them or both at the same time.

The weakest points of this drama in my opinion are two things: the beginning - which as with most fantasy korean shows (Lovers of the Red Sky is another example, though executed in a better, simpler, straight to the point manner) is quite convoluted and hard to follow and the overall execution of the storyline. Next is the script. The villains are interesting and mysterious until they aren't and become caricatures of their former selves from episodes ago. The plot magically stretches itself too thin and remains unexplored at the same time. Key players become unimportant and feel wasted. Big secrets that could shake up the way things are going  are revealed to the viewers, teasing us and making us eager to see them exposed, but not to the rest of the characters.

Another weak but not actually, who knows, lets wait for now thing about this show is the ending. That is due to the fact that a second season, made up of 10 additional episodes is set to premiere in Autumn of 2022. The ending of episode 20 leaves us wanting for more, with questions that would hopefully be answered in the episodes that are to follow in the second season.

Overall rating of first season: 7.9/10

This a very ENJOYABLE show, that I would recommend to anyone who loves having a good time. You will meet loveable characters in a world whose lore so far has been half-assedly explored, but as long as you are not bothered by every little inconsistency will you be pleased.

I'm 16 episodes into this show... I'm too far deep to drop it now:clownny:

I mean it's a good watch especially with 30min episodes on the Viki app, but I have no idea how they're gonna fill another 24 episodes.

I'm not living for neither the female lead nor the male lead. The way I started crushing on the second male lead even though what he did to his friend was messed up... Literally every male guest star so far has served (to me) more charisma and sex appeal than the ML:skull:

I wonder with what they're gonna fill the rest of the show since we now know who the killer is...

So I was bored and started watching the first episode of Love in Contract (Park Min Young, Go Kyung Pio, Kim Jae Young).

I thought it's gonna be a simple romantic comedy but it tries to be something more pompous than that:lakitu:

PMY was the best, as the episode focused on her the most, but I'm SCREAMING at her serving so far more chemistry with her gay friend than with her supposed romantic lead:bibliahh:Queen of gayz tingz:clap3:

I STRONGLY recommend Mouse.

It's a crime mystery thriller and it's a MASTERPIECE! Don't read any spoilers outside of the official description of the show.
