fridayteenage Posted February 25 Posted February 25 dragon ball: 90% of it is nonstop battles/training/powering up. peaked in the early parts when goku/bulma were just crusiing around looking for dragon balls. the couples don't really make sense as there's almost zero buildup and then it's like "oh they're married with a kid." the relationships that actually get time are all male/male. given: sorta the opposite. mostly the coming together of 3 different m/m couples who bond over their band(s). cute, a lot of feels and vibes, but we don't really get to know them that well outside of romance/music.
Chiidish Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I know a lot of people hate how Deku is choosing to Spoiler spoilers for anime onlies Spoiler deal with Shigaraki, but it’s starting to grow on me. It reminds me of Aang vs Ozai and how Aang wanted to save the world his way despite the risks and silliness of not using his power to just kill Ozai. But instead of the Lion turtle giving Deku the answers, Deku’s will power itself is breaking through chinks in Shigaraki’s overpowered combat capabilities and even starting to transform the ideas of the previous OFA holders. The vestiges feel like much less of an ass pull as well. I really thought he wrote himself to a corner with Shigaraki and making him wayyyy too powerful, but clearly he had a vision to always make this an anthemic story of being a hero above all else. Making Shigaraki so powerful to the point of despair but not using power to subjugate him directly it hits way more for the idea of what a hero should be and could have been before Shigaraki became a mass murderer. Unfortunately I have to give Deku his 10s, original Deku stans truly won honestly the entire class 1-A has been winning. I can’t say it enough how masterfully so many of the side show characters and side antagonists have been fully fleshed out. happy to have a series that doesn’t feel the need to kill and torture endlessly for character development, it’s refreshing at this point and a return to classic shonen energy 1
