To be fair that’s not unheard of but solo levelling doesn’t even have a supporting cast or subplots or twists to keep things fresh or interesting. So in terms of the OP mc trope it’s amongst the worst I’ve ever been baited into reading (fun at first, will get stale fast).

I’ll watch next weeks ep but probably drop it if there’s no hook. at least re:zero did something interesting and exciting, but otherwise, isekais are the marvel of anime and I’d rather watch anything else at this point
illia Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Wait I thought Solo Leveling was a shounen I've always had bad experience with isekais so my expectations are below zero at this point. Might have to give it 3 episodes to grab my attention
ATRL Administrator Lee!! Posted January 22 ATRL Administrator Posted January 22 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation was really good! I wish it was more than a one shot
illia Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) Currently reading "20th Century Boys" and I'm absolutely FLOORED. This is some of the best storytelling I've ever seen The way how each plot point slowly develops and cleverly connects with each other, the smart use of flashbacks AND flashforwards is brilliant I really hope it gets an anime soon because more people deserve to get into this story Edited January 25 by illia

Hunter x Hunter (JJK's author got a lot of inspiration from it) Jigokuraku Demon Slayer (JJK if it was written by Disney) My Hero Academia (JJK if it was written by CocoMelon but then gets transferred to Disney) Devilman Crybaby (JJK if it was written by A24 and HBO) Chainsaw Man (JJK's author is kinda besties with CSM's author) Bleach (JJK's author got a lot of inspiration from it too like Hunter x Hunter) Tokyo Ghoul Parasyte Dandadan (not animated yet but if you're OK with reading manga then yes) Choujin X (not animated yet either) Edited February 3 by illia 1

I watched/started most of those except Bleach and Parasyte (Started but never finished Tokyo Ghoul or Devilman Crybaby). I think Bleach is too long for me at this point to catch up but Parasyte seems pretty interesting so thank you for the rec!

Chiidish Posted February 11 Posted February 11 I told people solo levelling was all hype even before the first episode and glad to see I was always right give the webtoon/manwha budget back to Tower of God instead an actually good story . or if they were really smart they would anime The Breaker series
