I think it may poll over 60 percent now but when it's actually put on a ballot and becomes a left vs. right issue with Republicans running ads against it and making it out to be scarier than it is, then people probably vote mostly on partisan lines.

 

Don't 37 states already have legal same-sex marriage on the books? I'm not as convinced as some that the Supreme Court will overturn Obergefell, at least in this administration. Especially with the Respect for Marriage Act protecting marriages performed in states where same-sex marriage is legal and Republicans not having the votes to repeal that (very unlikely they'll have the votes in the Senate any time soon). So what would likely happen is Obergefell is overturned and then Republicans would have to mobilize to ban same-sex marriage in those 37 states. And then especially if they try to invalidate current marriages, they would be tied up in the courts for years. Seems like a good way to get backlash for not much reward, so if it does happen I see it taking multiple administrations. But Republicans are known for playing the long game, so not impossible in the future obviously.

Well that's why I like Wikipedia it's well sourced and makes things like scientific sources (journals) more digestible. There is a lot of facts out there to be read, it's just in the form of non sensational news.
