shelven Posted July 25 Posted July 25 The NYT poll is in line with what we've seen over the last 24 hours: Trump is still favoured and would very likely win if the election happened today, but Harris has turned this into an actual race instead of the blowout it would have been with Biden, and she has room to grow over the next 3 months. The biggest source of concern in that poll is Trump's 48% approval, which is by far the highest I think it's ever been in a high-quality poll Obviously there's logical reasons for why his approval is suddenly jumping now (sympathy for the assassination attempt, the media's weird "Trump wants to be a unity candidate now!" spin, and then the first 10 minutes of his RNC speech being good while nobody watched the rest), but the Dems really need to hope he goes back to his usual high 30s/low 40s approval soon once more people see that the unity thing was a sham and more people keep learning about Project 2025. Because a Trump that has a 48% approval rating on election day is winning regardless of what Harris does. 2
