Trump's numbers barely changing at all after the assassination attempt proves he has a ceiling of about 46 percent. If Dems are smart, they'll go with a VP pick who will make the difference for people who are disillusioned with both parties and wondering if it's worth leaving their couch to vote.

Making the cynical choice with Shapiro purely to lock in Pennsylvania would be the exact wrong move and come at the expense of alienating a generation of young people in other critical swing states, who have been reevaluating their relationship with the Democratic party for a while now but already seem more enthusiastic about 2024 with Biden off the ticket. Unpopular opinion, but Gretchen is a better choice if we're just looking at swing state governors. I think people massively overstate the harm of having two women on the ticket when the Presidential nominee is already a woman, and I think it could even play well in a year where abortion is the biggest issue.

I don't think Gretchen wants it. She would rather run her own campaign in 2028 or 2032

I love her parts of her speech where she volleys with what she did as a prosecutor to what Trump has been convicted of, but I wish she ended it with "Trump even thinks I did a good job" or something like that and mention how he supported her before re:

Either way, the last thing we need is a Tim Kaine :rip:  No one voting in 2016, not even subconsciously, was thinking "You know what, I wasn't going to vote for Hillary, but now she has boing white MAN Tim Kaine to help her do the job, so that seals my support for her". If they thought she was a shrill harpy, I don't think the VP pick changed that.

Another great speech, cook cook cook cook COOK!

She's doing so well it almost makes me think this whole thing was planned, that they purposely let things get so dire with Biden while Kamala was waiting in the wings, practicing her speeches, and cooking up coconut memes ready to swoop in at the exact right moment :duca:

Making a brief ATRL return because I thought this might be of interest.

Shapiro has some allegations of shady ties. One in particular is this case of a girl whose death was ruled a "suicide" :celestial5: I saw this post shared in the past, the case has gotten local attention in Philly:

More about this case here.

Tf is this? :biblio: And he has serious ambitions about running in the future?

He's better off not doing it unless he's really scrambling to shake things up

Me and my friend just watched the live WI speech and he said "I haven't felt this inspired or excited for someone in such a long time (Obama). She is giving off major Obama teas. Such a great speaker and I'm glad she seems much more comfortable on stage and speaking.

Honestly I'm starting to think this is true. Because it all just seems perfectly seamless:deadbanana4:

Like she literally took over and is hitting all the right marks. She also has improved immensely in her public speaking from 2020 which is a given now that's she's VP.

Idk but I'm here for it. Biden essentially took all the bullets for her in a sense. Reps are not going to be able to build a solid case against her in 3 months.

Biden is 81. Kamala knew she might have to take over at some point.

Kinda digging the prosecutor/criminal angle. Americans love cop shows and Law & Order ****. Maybe it can appeal to midwestern moms?

If @Communion and @Sannie both agree it should be Beshear, then you know that's the right choice :deadbanana4:

True. I guess what I find impressive is how the team transitioned seamlessly and positioned her perfectly to succeed. It could've been sloppy especially for something that hasn't happened in decades but they are so far doing an amazing job.

Weird one but I met a middle aged white man in Thailand today (yes,:rip:). I asked him what he thought about the election and he said he wasn't going to vote for Biden or Trump but he might vote for Kamala. He was from Wisconsin.
