Look, I'd support him over Shapiro for all the reasons you discussed but we have to hold the Blue Wall. Not enough data out yet on the comparisons.

Wonderland Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Shapiro comes across as a stronger and more confident communicator.
CaptainMusic Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Shapiro seems awful on Israel but many progressives are still gonna drag/not support Kamala (like a few are doing on here already) either way due to her own stance so she might as well just pick him at this point to sway independents.

This is the cold hard data take that Nancy would take - that already low turnout voters aren't worth the risk trying to reach and further flip-flopping would anger all groups. But this gets back to our earlier point - Kamala is still in many voters minds the tabula rasa of candidates and that either seems to still piss off or mystify everyone. 6 minutes ago, 19SLAYty9 said: Shapiro has already informed the DNC he doesn't want it I need a link on this. Beshear might not be from the region, but I think he'll have a greater ability to connect with middle America working class voters, and his stance on Israel doesn't seem to be any further to the right of Harris's in the way that Shapiro's is. I still don't really know what to think, but it does seem that any advantage in communication and outreach to labor voters I thought Shapiro had was illusory, because after watching an hour of their speeches last night, it seems that he and Beshear are roughly evenly matched. Chiidish Posted July 22 Posted July 22 It should be Shapiro if not the scraps are Newsom (not that's he's bad he's just from California so terrible optics), O'Rourke (young and progressive straight, good communicator but no wins), or Ossoff (from Georgia? Maybe consolidate some more movement for a steal ). s/n: what happened to Abram's in Georgia
Vermillion Posted July 22 Posted July 22 @CaptainMusic The right's already taking advantage of the perceived division on this topic, rightfully or not

Abrams lost and is now working for voting rights in Georgia. Don't get @ClashAndBurn started on Stacey's hypocrisy on election conspiracies
Communion Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Yeah people should understand that Shapiro is almost cartoonish in his Zionism and would undo any perceived softness Kamala is seen as having on the topic compared to Biden. It also makes it easier for leftists like Brie to rightfully criticizing Dems and I can't really blame her. As young people, I feel like we all know the impact of how quickly coconut memes can transform into something else if becoming the ticket of *re-reads* wanting to strip schools of federal funding if they criticize Israel. 1

There's no insult that strikes deeper to young people as calling someone a warmonger, a war criminal, etc. It took Obama - due to his failures near the end of his terms - from beloved Gen X pres with playlists to the "Drone Strike President". Biden was always going to be received worse due to being ideologically committed to the very ideals millennials and Gen Z hate that Obama only was vaguely committed to. I'm not stupid enough to think Kamala would rebuke Israel, and I would defend anyone still unable to vote for her if she would continue going in Biden's direction, but it's hard to imagine her making the same speeches and comments. I don't know if I can see her coldly saying 15k children dead is a fake number in the way Biden literally did. Part of why she was criticized during the 2020 primary was how ideologically uncommitted she was to anything and just trying to find a polls-tested path forward after Biden and Bernie took most voters. But that also means it's hard to imagine she'd have any motivation to take on the far-right, Zionist positions Biden proudly ideologically aligns with despite being deeply unpalatable to the average Dem-leaner. Don't hate the prophetess for the messages she simply communicates from the universe. 3 1
