This one better have something new to say in the interview, the fact that we all know her talking points by now is so…

No we don’t want anymore cute lil moments..We need her biggest comeback yet even bigger than Wild Sidr because her next release is her last mainstream release if she doesn’t deliver she’s done in people’s eyes. We need a high budget and high concept ala Joseph Khan style video with heavy choreography and iconic sets and looks with a Doja Cat feature since she’s been gone for a while too it would make a lot of noise and could see Normani getting her first top 10 debut if they pull their cards right.

If Normani is coming back in a big way (and not another toss away single), she doesn’t need the Doja Cat feat on Candy Paint. What she needs to TTH on Spotify, a radio deal for pop and rhythmic, album date and cover announcements ready, and a hot video for Candy Paint on day 1 released.

Candy Paint sounds like the type of song that could smash out the gate then, they can do a remix if they need to with a big name like Doja.

Generally, I would prefer the Doja feature be a separate song on the album that can be a single at a later point incase they need to boost the era up. Don’t waste that on Candy Paint which is already a strong/interesting uptempo.

Basically :coffee:

I believe Candy Paint has a very strong potential on this own too. But it needs supports from the label. That song is a bop and a half. It’s a crime they’re holding it up like this.

I feel like it’s a good time to release since a lot of old artists are having moments once again (Tori Kelly, Ellie Goulding, Miley Cyrus) and there’s a lot of new breakout artists doing very well (Coco Jones, FLO, Citizen Queen, Doechii, Ice Spice, PinkPantheres) as well. It feels like the door has been opened for her to smash and finally release her album.

I want her to have a solo hit. No collabs pls!

I said “IF” for a reason. I’m not exhausted because half the people in here think she’s shelved, so it’s all just theories and fun. Back up!

I don’t understand this. She has Wild Side. What went wrong?
And no new single for over a year. Is she serious?

I hate comparing artists but…FLO’s entire esthetic and artistry so far is very much the direction I thought Normani was going to go in after the nostalgia she was selling with the Motivation video and her photoshoots around that time.

I just listened to Fly Girl, which made me revisit Cardboard Box, and an artist with a bigger following (like Normani) would have sold those songs so well.

She neeeeeeeeeeds to release something.

Yea, FLO's entire image (and even sound) is very aligned with what Normani was trying to sell. She might have just lost it all.

It was absolutely her lane, and now Wild Side and Candy Paint are giving athletic sex kitten :coffee2:

It works better for a teen booper group let them have their moment. Normani is a cameleon she’s not defined by a sound or aesthetic

I wonder if the billboards music awards moving their date will affect Normani’s release date considering they’ve waited both times for her “lead single” to be released right before a big award show. Also if TikTok gets banned I feel like that could be detrimental to Normani’s comeback honestly. :stare:

Ew I do NOT think FLO is what Normani should be doing or what her aesthetic was EVER going to be like. Normani’s aesthetics during the Wild Side era was exactly what the album era needed to give. Also some of her looks during Motivation’s run.

Normani needs no help aesthetically. Let’s not do that. Play with the lack of music releases but look wise, she could carry an era if she actually decided to do one.

Spoiler

FLO’s sound is immature and near parody level of the 90s and 2000s. Like that Fly Girls song is cute but it’s no better or executed than anything Little Mix dropped their last album (just to give a comparison point because FLO is becoming way too overhyped lately).

Meanwhile, Wild Side is so excellent, you can forget it’s an Aaliyah sample sometimes which is POWERFUL and shows strong execution on Normani, Starrah, and the rest of production.

They’re triggering me by bringing up *that* group in here. It’s like propaganda about this group being the gods of channeling 90s and 2000s so now we gotta erase the fact Normani (AND OTHERS) were eating that aesthetic while FLO was still studying for high school exams? Give me a break.

We can shade Normani for no music but when she does have music out, she gives a cute lil moment. That’s why Fair is still brought up by everyone on stan twitter (and even sometimes on here) meanwhile Normani fans don’t even bring it up. Normani’s flop tracks are  memorable. She has the makings to EAT if they do an album era. :bird:

It isssss frustrating though I hear what people are saying . Like - these mid tier artists (which I still love btw ) are dropping these urban r&b bops that Normani would EAT DOWN! I guess I’m just sad because there’s absolutely no communication from her or her team. I really wanna know what they’re waiting for, if anything I wish she’d pull a RAYE and out her label although risky. Whether it’s from a major label or not I want music from Normani and I genuinely think she wants it too but I can almost bet the label disagreements have knocked her confidence ten fold. Especially with her mom, tunji leaving.. etc. it really seems like everything went downhill after fair flopped

FLO has crafted the perfect sound. Normani had the right vision but the execution has been quite poor since the beginning. It doesn’t help that her voice isn’t compatible to fit that sound. Even Brent Faiyaz has done a better job at producing this sound than she has.

But somehow, “Fair” and “Candy Paint” are records that perfectly embody the sound from that era? Absolutely not. She needs better producers and writers.

Fair is brought up in here like every week Whatchu mean ‘sometimes’ lol 😂. It also isn’t brought up because it’s memorable for being a good song, it’s brought up for being a bad choice for a single & being the last thing we’ve got from her … that’s not a good thing lol.

It’s odd every time there’s new Black female artists everyone always has to do a comparison and make it competitive like damn… Can FLO & Normani not coexist?!? FLO has developed their own style/sound that’s 2000s inspired and their fans enjoy it, while Normani is finding her style and sound still which I’m sure will be great. Y’all gotta learn that everyone can win.
