She's such a sweet person who is so deserving and yet, she gets paid dust She's very much loved by the gp and media now when that wasn't always the case so society has come a long way since BTD. I fear those Hipster Runoff slandering blog types that she managed to outlast are still very much present in these voting committees...just as out of touch and misogynistic as they were in 2012. I guess it also doesn't help when she can fall into pop or alternative depending on what her albums sound like, and pretty soon country.

She is really sitting between chairs, but maybe that's the best thing for a long lasting career

She's not known for doing drastic pop reinventions with every era but this is kind of her way of doing things. I think her being holed up in Nashville for the next album and mingling with all the country stars there will result in some goodwill for that project once it's out.

In terms of her career, just look how she has left all of her peers behind. Some got awared and praised more, some even sold more at some point, but she has outlasted them all.
Janet Posted February 5 Posted February 5 One thing I’m never going to do is see her live. I can’t imagine how annoying the audience will be. Hipsters, gp girls, annoying gays. 1

I'm still in awe because I thought after Chemtrails it was just a decline from here on out...but look at that album hitting 1M+ daily streams again? Liz Phair was and still is ahead of her time when Lana came into the picture: Quote When a reporter asked me to comment on the performance, I was happy to go to bat for her. I completely felt like everyone trashing that performance was sexist. Straight up. Was she inexperienced? Yeah. Did she seem nervous? Yeah. And I’ve seen so many off-key performances on SNL. But because she had that beautiful evening gown on and she was doing this different sort of cabaret, I immediately saw the art in it and thought, She has written a part for herself, because no one else would cast her. Lana's legacy in terms of the music and aesthetics is already set in stone but what a lot of people haven't really talked about was how she ended up at the top again without the help of: Top 40 radio, tv performances, or heavy product placement campaigns. I think to this day, none of her videos have any sort of blatant product placement (we don't count Burning Desire hihi). She owned all her masters since Day 1 when most artists weren't even aware they could fight for them. 8 minutes ago, Janet said: One thing I’m never going to do is see her live. Live recordings make it seem like the crowd drowns her out but you can actually hear her very clearly. Edited February 5 by NOW

It's crucial for a new song. It doesn't affect her now, but it probably will. Therefore, Taylor dragging her on stage like a dog and giving her exposure was literally Lord's work.

Would happily go see her in a theatre though tbh. It’s a more controlled environment and feels special / intimate. 1

Don't really know what country artists are on Interscope...I think Kacey is as of her last album? But, they should def treat this next release like a country record and give it the resources it needed. The lack of TikTok will require them to think of other ways to make something viral, not just for her but especially for newer artists who depend on it to break through. The fact that this album was shut out of any nominations period is so telling... 1
Dante Silva Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Taylor winning for the fourth time feels like overkill. I expected Lana to win. I sincerely hope she was not one of the nominee’s Jay Z felt should not have even been on the list.

Aethereal Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Now that I look and listen to whole thing, I kinda like what Taylor did. I think she meant it as a subtle message to the Grammys.

So I think the Grammys don't give af If things go their way, they will probably rewards Taylor with a fifth AOTY next year unless she says enough and does not submit
NOW Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Oh this is cute - she ran into Princess Superstar at the Clive Davis party over the weekend. She produced the iconic Maha Maha demo. 1

I feel like Adele winning was very expected while Taylor winning for the 4th time and Lana not getting a single award was more extreme. And Adele is known for praising others. No one will expect anything in the up coming years though.

She will likely win one or three eventually, but till then we get it
Living Legend Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 I think this country album will be absolutely fantastic. I'm not completely obsessed with Ocean Blvd but for whatever reason I always find myself going back to Country Roads.

I'm not a big fan of the genre but I can't deny her voice was made to sing country music. Video Games, Ride, Love, and even many of her earlier unreleased tracks like Pawn Shop sound like they could've been country classics if produced differently. Edited February 6 by NOW
SadGirl Posted February 6 Posted February 6 While I am disappointed for her, mostly because I know she cares and wants the industry to approve of her, I think it’s important to remember that the academy is corrupt and ratings driven. I really hope that one day she’ll get the flowers she deserves but honestly 2023 was probably the her best year yet with or without a grammy. Incredible stats, acclaim, respect from fellow artists…I hope she can see that. 3
