Vroom Vroom Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Million Reasons is the best song from Joanne and maybe one of her best written songs to date Gaga’s lead singles are sacrificed to the hype machine. No lead single will ever match the hype that Liddos create. The first single manages expectations and paves the way for her second single MR almost flopped and became irrelevant, but Gaga knew the song had potential and fought for it for almost a whole year. Performing it everywhere she went, giving one of her coveted Super Bowl song slots to it. Perfect Illusion was a throw away song for her she has never returned to it. Million Reasons is special 2
Aden Posted February 20 Posted February 20 When the LG7 lead inevitably comes out, we need to remember it's going to be one of the duds of the album and that Single #2 will be the true album smash. 1

Solar Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Is Mr.S still a source of Gaga info? If so where tf is he
Yzma Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I'm telling myself that whatever she puts out will flop. That way I can be surprised if she gets a top 20 5 debut.

Lüwís Posted February 20 Posted February 20 'Joanne' (album) is a weird one for me. I loved it when it first came out and I listened to it a lot for maybe a year or two after. I've not revisited it much for a few years now. She / her team / her label always choose the worst songs to be singles. That frustrates me more than anything else when it comes to Germanotta. I think it's worse than the broken promises about projects she teases and never releases. Here's a little fan fiction for 'Joanne': 'Diamond Heart' Wonderful chorus. I actially think this might have done better over time than 'Perfect Illusion'. It's got the feel of an anthem that I could see resonating with heterosexual (American) women. The music video, not sure. In any case, I'd have her wear the light blue diamond-encrusted leotard she wore on the Joanne World Tour, riding a horse somewhere, galloping alongside the great lakes. Scenes in a bar, reminiscent of Coyote Ugly, etc. Diamonds literally rain down upon her banging body. She looks hot. One for the dads. 'Million Reasons' An alright song, a decent ballad. It might have been better with more of a choral section in the second half to add a little life to it. The music video was a huge disappointment, however. I'm seeing her in the Louisiana swamps, wearing white, struggling through the reeds and crocodiles, snakes, whatever else lives in those swamps. She's run away from a lover who looks like he's lost a good one, he's sent a search party out to find her. She's torn between going back to him or carrying on. At the end we see her boots sinking into the water. Is she dead? 'Dancin' In Circles' Why they chose 'John Wayne' over this... I'll never understand. Continuing from the aforementioned swamps, she's not dead, she faked her own death, the first guy couldn't give her a good reason to stay. She managed to get out and she's found work in a brothel. She's sick of the vile ugly men, then in walks a handsome cowboy. They lock eyes, it's love/lust at first sight. Cue the song, she's imagining being with him, running off with him etc. She's dancing in circles around the Moulin Rouge-like joint, she's got some gal-pals working with her to steal enough money from the patrons to get out of the place. The brothel is raided by old-timey cops as dawn approaches so she takes her chance and she jumps out of the top window onto the cowboy's stallion and they ride off as the sun rises. 'Perfect Illusion' I suppose it could still be a single. Certainly not the lead. She gets sick of the cowboy, he turns out to be a let down. She's living a dull life with him and the kids, she's sick of the humdrum and his laziness. She takes the kids and leaves him, blah blah. 'Come to Mama' A cute song. Possibly the last single. No more cowboy stuff, they're living in modern America, in a low income household. They're struggling but she's looking after the kids, being a good mother and she's making sure they're getting good emotional support. Lol. She's teaching them how to be good, decent human beings for when they grow up, showing them that it'll be a struggle and giving them them the kindness punk talking-to etc. 'Angel Down' Not my favourite but it was written about something real and tragic. Very sad. Music video could have been a commentary on the daily struggles of millions of Americans, notably the minorities. She's rich, so it might come across as disingenuous, so I wouldn't have her as the prominent figure in a video for this song. --- Or she could have just done a short film for the whole album. It's under 40 minutes, so one long visual including all - or snippets - of each song would have been okay. I'd have her do some TV appearances to promote Diamond Heart (3 in the USA, 2 in UK, 1 in Canada), Dancin' In Circles (2 in the USA, 2 in France, 1 in Germany), Million Reasons (Superbowl was good enough) and Come to Mama (2 in the UK as I could see middle aged Brits getting behind it). 4
