Leptine Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 BTW was truly ahead of its time in everything, from the visuals, the performances, photoshoots, lyrics, theme songs, productions, I do agree it's her masterpiece. The album is aging like fine wine and 'Bloody Mary' proved that. I was thinking lately but in reality I've always said it in the last years that at the end despite us mentioning basically all the genres of music that she can deliver, I truly would like another album like that, or at least an evolution in that vibe I mean, even if it's not easy, those recent AI brunette industrial visuals would be perfect for that. 3

The early 2010s was all about vibrant colour and partying and she was doing black and white photoshoots covered in goo with face prosthetics on, it just wasn't relatable. I do love that era tho, I think it was her best visually and sonically. True but she was still very colorful during the btw era. She just wasn't tacky about it like her peers Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry 1

I had just woken up during a sleepover at my crush's house (he was straight) the slayage I remember thinking that ARTPOP would be the biggest album of the decade and she and her team would learn from the previous mistakes. I could never predict the mess that the ARTPOP era would be. But in the end, maybe this was all for good, she distanced herself for negative people and showed to the world her real talent and amazing voice and know she is considered by everyone as one of the best voives and she is super respected as an artist and singer

GraceRandolph Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 Things would've gone so differently if ARTPOP was released in Q1 2013. Gaga needed to evade the Katy and Miley comparisons.

Aden Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 2011 was such an interesting year because while you had the colorful Katy Perry's of the world smashing, you also had Adele smashing with her ballads, in addition to Gaga smashing with her alien-esque 80s sound and aesthetic. In the end, I'm glad gaga took artistic risks with Alejandro, BTW, and Judas because they ended up solidifying her as a music legend. If BTW had been on trend, she probably would have fizzled out quick. TF and TFM birthed the dance pop craze of the early 2010s so there really was no reason for BTW to be in trend. I don't expect LG7 to mirror BTW's commercial success, but I do hope it matches the artistic grit and edge. 5 3
State of Grace. Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 As much as I like to tug on its wig, this era was incredible visually. Much better than the music itself. In a parallel universe, Chromatica happened outside of the pandemic and had a Joanne'd era with endless public appearances, interviews, performances, etc I do wish we got more Iris Van Herpen though, she always serves some of her best looks in it 4

She definitely would have snatched more hits if BTW was TF/TFM-esque and had more accessible dance pop bops, but BTW was a risk that really paid off. Not to mention how that album basically solidified her fanbase for eternity and is still considered her magnum opus. We can only wish for LG7 to be 1/4 as bold, adventurous, and ambitious 2

Unfortunetelly, the world wasnt ready in 2011. Maybe if she took a year off and released BTW in 2012 would be better. Once you lose casuals its very hard to get them back. That's why ASIB smashed with a total replacement of identity with OST ballads far removed from 2009-2013. She still has the talent to do great things its how its presented and executed.
Almodusa Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 Aw happy 7 years to MR. I remember hearing that closing note 2
Aden Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 Million Reasons is such a classic. The day MR was released, I met up with a friend at a gay bar who always playfully shaded Gaga at the time. He said she didn't know what she was doing with her career anymore. Joke's on him because MR ended up becoming one of Gaga's biggest, long-lasting hits hihi 3

Although, as much as I like the song, I think she would've done much better without Judas being released as a single. Maybe save it for last, idk. TEOG as the second single could've been huge. 1
