Disappointing for the #2 peak, but it is what it is. This year has been incredible musically wise for Gaga ; Die With a Smile is one of my all time favorites, I really love Harlequin, I still play my fav songs daily, and Disease is great. I also know, from the snippets, that LG7 will be an incredible album.

I don't really care about the charts anymore, but I still want Die With a Smile to enter the IFPI top 10 ; that would be way more important and impressive than reaching #1 in the US. Y'all should focus on that instead of this tragic country's taste.

The REAL tragedy is see Stupid Love doing 50k daily streams. All the Chroma era (other than ROM) was handled so badly, damn.

Yeah she had so much momentum going into it after ASIB and they chose a weak lead single, which still managed to peak high despite the leak. I honestly think 911 would have been the best lead single

I applaud gaga for having the worst fanbase in Stan history I'll say that :clap3:

Some users should literally read twice what they type because it's cringe af! 💀 Imagine being that pressed with Gaga's chart success, especially when you claim over and over again how much you love her and that stanning her was your best decision ever made 16 years ago like... 🤡 Guys, it's not that serious. You've the right to be disappointed but acting like a crybaby in a queer music forum is sad. It's a Top 2? Yes. Did her blockbuster movie flopped? Yes. Did she served quality with DWAS, Disease and Harlequin? Also, yes. Those are facts and I respect and I admire her. I'm convinced she will serve, once again, a superb album and tour. Accept that she's not the same woman (and artist) that she was almost two decades ago and call it a day.

10000%.

The negativity is the primary reason I left the fanbase previously. I'll always root for her and enjoy her music, but probably from outside of this base.

I can't believe I'm about to use a sports analogy on a music forum, but the same thing applies. Its almost like when your favourite team comes in 2nd place and instead of celebrating the success to get there, folks are throwing tantrums and complaining about not being first. It's kinda childish tbh.

Taylor and Beyonce are way more veterans than Gaga, but they've managed to keep their respective fanbase engaged and proactive. Madonna was the biggest popstar during 40 years not only because of her original fans who eventually grew up, but because she achieved to make new fans trhoughout her career.

It seems that Gaga relies on the same fanbase which she builded in 2008-2013. And that's the main problem: she's been incapable of enlarging the fanbase since then, and she even made the existing one smaller and smaller.

It's fine that Gaga's original fans are growing up, but the problem is that in the last 10 years she hasn't attracted new fans into the fanbase.

im just tired of Gaga always having to struggle :chick3:

in a way it's beautiful and mirrors her life story of struggle and fighting and stuff but it always feels like an uphill battle for her. At this point she needs to be in an imperial phase where she releases stuff and it easily debut top 10 and she can open with 200k+ easily etc but instead she always has to fight tooth and nail to get to those types of figures.

I mean she is still winning with DWAS but everything else is kinda crumbling a little :'(

Oh please. Anyone could've secured Coachella with the letters G A G A in their portfolio. Doesn't make him a good manager.

I'm trying to be positive here. Last time I questioned Bobby's skills I got dragged ooop :emofish:

Praying the second single is the Telephone continuation with Beyonce, we need a collab for a hit, but this would at least have integrity

I have faith in her future songs' performance.

I mean just the snippets that we've heard have a lot of viral TikTok potential

'Oh oh oh, I've become a notorious being'

''Abracadabra, abracadabraaaaa'

Disease lacks that potentially viral moment in its lyrics tbh.

one thing that annoys me about the producers Gaga's been working with is that they are so mayonnaise and safe. Bloodpoop? Cirkus? like they are known for muffled and safe production choices....I liked Chromatica a lot and stuff but something about their production skills is very dated imo. I want her to work with more experimental ppl, up and coming producers or established names that can give u a REALLY lush production

Question for the subculture: Is anyone in this fan base a genuine pure top? :skull:

I feel like this fan base is FULL of bottoms hence why we ALWAYS LOSE everything. Tops have it in their name...they come out on top....bottoms? Well it's reflected in Gaga's chart performance.  ugh bourdain.thumb.png.bf61b6028e4209face7d3

Bloody Mary is not EDM EDM...it's has some cool stuff going on, Gregorian church chanting, some real instruments, medieval sound to it etc. Government Hooker got a cute 50k boost and we celebrate that? k.

Point stands. The EDM sounding stuff is not doing well unless it is out of nostalgia hence why it goes viral on tiktok bourdain.thumb.png.bf61b6028e4209face7d3

The meltdowns, Gaga is doing just fine, she's beyond her peak obviously and her latest musical inputs have been very questionable sans DWAS and Disease (Which I personally love) but let's not pretend she's some sort of flop that can't achieve a top 10 hit single on her own. She's not Christina Aguilera or Katy Perry ffs, chill up a bit

So I did a little F0ns20nXgAEMtYx.jpg:large and one of the predictors behind TOTC (lippreacts or something like that) pointed out that the numbers they had listed for ABS in the Billboard article were the exact same numbers that TOTC listed in their final predictions. Combined with the fact that the Billboard article says this:

Quote

Luminate, the independent data provider to the Billboard charts, completes a thorough review of all data submissions used in compiling the weekly chart rankings. Luminate reviews and authenticates data. In partnership with Billboard, data deemed suspicious or unverifiable is removed, using established criteria, before final chart calculations are made and published.

Makes me think one of two things happened:

  1. DWAS's AI on radio wasn't as high as mediabase was predicting (their audience impression numbers are estimates)
  2. a lot of the purchased versions got filtered out.

Now that disclaimer is probably in all their articles announcing each week's Hot 100 (but I'm too lazy to check tbh). But I still think there's a good chance that some of the purchases were filtered out. TOTC has access to Luminate data (which gives them sales and streams) but radio their radio prediction is based on the mediabase/kworb estimates (which are usually higher than Billboard). Now if the scenario 1 turns out to be the true one, we may still have a sliver of hope that it can go #1 in 2025 provided:

  • its streams stay stable (or decrease at a similar rate to Bar Song's)
  • ABS keeps decreasing on radio (and DWAS rebounds after Christmas. Not really banking on this but there's a slight possibility).
  • That's So True still keeps a good distance on radio. Also whether it holds up on streaming remains to be seen as well.
  • A new song doesn't blows up out of nowhere, which may very well happen

Again, I'm not predicting that the song goes #1, but it is what it is. I just thought I might provide a theory as to why the predictions were so off this week.

I'll meet you 80 years from now in the "Elders React" youtube channel studio when we sit down to react to new songs and I got my full hearing abilities while u ask them to turn on the volume even tho it's already at maximum :clack: We'll see who gets the last laugh :clack:

Hey, you only hear once. :clack: Might as well make the most of it, since the endorphins I get from hearing really loud and hard electronic music cannot be replicated by made-for-radio pop no matter how lush. :clack:

ok true and fair BUT we need lush not muffled production and Bloodpoop and Cirkus do that. I need layered production! not 2011 levels basic production :clack: I'll wait and see tho

Do we have other predictors than Talk Of The Charts for IFPI ? I don't trust them after the failure of this week's projection :biblionana:

They're the only ones I know of. And honestly it's probably a good idea to look at predictions with a degree of skepticism in general. At the end of the day, predictions are just guesses. They may be made by people that are experts in their specific field, but no one's above being wrong. It's like how a vast majority of US pollsters were predicting Kamala would win the 2024 US Presidential Election (and we saw how that turned out :gaycat6:). No matter how good of a track record that chart predictors (or pollsters) may have, none of them are infallible. And I think going forward, we should probably remember that. Like we can just keep consuming Gaga's music on streaming and sales, but how her work charts is largely out of our individual control. All we can do is hope for the best.
