Just reading Katy's review thread gave me such a bad feeling in my stomach. Katy is the type of artists who can learn from her mistakes, and she seems to be coming for blood. Gaga is the type of artist that I feel like will double down on her mistakes and either release a generic Chromatica type of album, or a stripped Joanne type of album. Gaga, we need good music this time. It's been 13 years since your last REAL good album. I am not trying to shade you honestly, but this is truly one of the dumbest things I have ever seen in this thread... and that is saying a lot. It is 2024 and you are still worried about Katy Perry? Compared to Lady Gaga? Katy Perry, the woman who follows every trend, has shown zero artistic growth, and will do anything to be seen as "cool" is who you are worried about? So, you are just going to throw away the entire past decade of Gaga getting better in virtually every arena because of what some Twitter people are saying? Do you know why Katy is even having listening parties? Because she needs the PR. Nobody who is confident in their work needs to preview music under an NDA so those people then go onto social media and say things like "it is going to be her magnum opus", "it is very cunty". Calling Chromatica "generic" is exactly why fans like you will always be whining. Chromatica has some of Gaga's best themes, lyrics, and production of her entire career despite what you have been fed by stans who only care about chart success. A song like 911, Katy Perry would never even attempt to create. A song like Replay, Katy could only dream of making. Katy is "coming for blood" with Dr. Luke lyrics and Charli XCX visuals. If you think an artist like Gaga should be focusing on chart success vs. artistic growth, I am glad Gaga does not pay attention to fans anymore. Edit: There are no mistakes to learn from in terms of her music. Are you people okay? Gaga makes the music she wants to make. None of it is a mistake. You not getting a 10-week #1 to brag to internet strangers about does not make something a "mistake", it just means you need to get a life outside of stanning lol. Edited June 6 by Sannie 17 3
Album Leak Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) I think some Taylor fans have become too accustomed to their fave slaying and getting universal praise, acclaim, humongous sales and high chart positions that they have forgotten to just sit down and enjoy the output of other artists while forming a connection to their new material outside of the influence of fanwars, acclaim, sales and chart numbers. Gaga is most likely not going to make a huge splash critically or sales wise unless the stars align, and that's fine. She has nothing really to prove, she has ruled the music industry already and left her mark in it's history. Edited June 6 by Album Leak 8

MidnightsAtPeace Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) one thing about this thread is that everytime you open it, you'll see a random number with the word hour/s in front of it Edited June 6 by MidnightsAtPeace 4

Considering critics are now afraid to be critical, it will most likely have her highest scores 1

That's exactly what it is. They're unable to just sit down and enjoy the music without focusing on steams and chart positions.

Badgalbriel Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Ok guys. I got the memo. I should not let another artists success or acclaim affect how I listen to the artists I like. I got it. Thanks for the words here. 2

Obviously we want Gaga to do incredibly well, and the most petty of us want Gaga to dumpster on Katy Perry (though I don't personally care whether Katy ends up slaying this time around, good for her if so!) but we have already become accustomed to the fact that Gaga is not a massive album and/or single seller anymore and that it's really hard to predict how acclaimed her work will be. It is what it is and the most important thing is that the music is good from a subjective point of view. Also, Chromatica had some of Gaga's best songs EVER, period. Edited June 6 by Album Leak 4

Oh, I was not concerned about the sales or streams at all. I was concerned that Gaga would not learn from her mistakes and release an album produced by her core team of friends again.

Sis one thing you can count on with Gaga is that she is not gonna continue with the same person as her executive producer for more than 2 albums (If you count TFM as an EP you can even say 1 album).

Bhabylon Posted June 6 Posted June 6 And if even she were to release an album produced by her friends, that's her right. As she once said Gaga is the artist at the end of the day, and who she chooses to make her art with is up to her. Some may not like it, but please. Miss girl owes us nothing. 3

RandomHooker Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Gaga's never been a puppet, she always had control over her output, good or bad. It's her artistic essence. 1
