PBP (album) just hit 500m streams (this is the album itself not the project - how I tend to calculate the eras on my spreadsheet)

A curiosity since last night, they’ve removed the single releases on Spotify of RFC and lighthouse… maybe one of them is going to get single treatment and they want a less busy single? IHL and FKOH (guetta version release only) are still there 

 

edit: the original me/mine release is also removed, but they’ve kept the remix album.

 

so it looks like they’ve removed all the “singles” except IHL and the remixes of FKOH and mine

I wonder if these version removals will impact the playlisting of the songs if their single version was in the playlists. We’ll know in 2 days with Spotify’s update.

looks like we’ll hit 50m era total with today’s update.

 

before anyone says FKOH should be “next single”, all this data shows is that it was more playlist friendly than the other prereleases (IHL, me, RFC - and to some extent mine if you consider all versions). In fairness to Atlantic, compared to her previous albums eras, this release’s album tracks are daily streaming better than them, but the single is lacking. Kinda similar situation with MoL, the album tracks did better than previous semi-streaming era release (pbp), but single streams really lacking. I think Atlantic has given us really great albums but now need to figure out how to get at least one decently streaming song from each era. They have shown that they have the potential: 

 

Broken and Beautiful: 131,892,857 - gold certified in streaming era, can’t be too far from platinum either unless most streams come from outside of USA. Daily streams around 45,000 (which is decent for a Kelly song that was released quite a few years ago and wasn’t actually a hit) 

 

hte: 31,650,398 

hte edit: 19,755,951

hte total: 51,406,349

 

tbh I think Atlantic should combine the streams into one number (quite a lot of artists do that for duet and remix versions), but for a “throwaway” Kellyoke, both versions combined get around 65k-70k daily streams (about the same as FKOH) a year after release.

 

SCYHM also is due to got over 40m streams from the last Xmas season. It’ll jump over 100m total this season, and probably beat its steaming numbers from last year as Xmas singles tend to gain each year).

 

so, I hope this Spotify update on albuming is a sign that Atlantic is about to get something ready for a single and push it. As Kelly has said in her shows, the label is shocked and impressed with the sales, so it is maybe time for a bit of investment into a single to push the era on streaming. I do find it curious that the singles removed are ones she performs every night (RFC and lighthouse). I still think it makes most sense to release a track from the deluxe as a single once that drops (for album sales and playlisting reasons of nmf), but I also hope they do something with the standard edition songs.

Wow. I'm so excited for the deluxe version. I wonder if she will plan to do some promo to makeup for the lost opportunities this summer. 
 

either way I feel like next we will get the full Belasco show somehow. And then before you know it, Grammy nominations and Christmas promo. Slay queen.
