KevinKDC Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 I’m so confused about that’s right on the album. i was honestly expecting some heavy drums since Sheile E was included on the track.

Before the era I was expecting My December level heartbreak, as the era started I was expecting Mine level production, and with each new song I was like ok we're getting very middle of the road P!nk here. I'm glad there's a few gems on the album, it's gonna be a great live album. I think she needs to experiment with some new producers to freshen it up a bit tbh. This is EXACTLY how I feel about this record. I've only heard it twice so far and think it's -good- but she is playing it very safe again. Next listen I need to pay more attention to the lyrics.
Fortify Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 This may be the first era where her voice sounds equally as stunning live and on the album. Holy ****. I love this album, it sounds sooo good as one whole instead of tracks by themselves.
kelli101 Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 (edited) What is it about That’s Right that’s off for those of you who’ve heard it?? Is it thematically wrong for the album (but the track is decent)?? Or the song is just not good?? Just curious cause it seems to be the case with everyone that’s heard it- i do like island vibes though so i might enjoy it Edited June 18, 2023 by kelli101

Sounds like a solar power left over track. I think everyone is caught of guard by the production. I honestly don’t know how to rate it. It’s not a bad song…. But it almost feel like we are being trolled by that song existence on the album. 1

BravoTangoWhiskey Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 I think talk of pushing FKOH as a single is really premature. Consensus on this board from those who heard it, except 1 or 2, is that is rock bottom of the album. At this point the singles should be selling the album sonically and FKOH doesn’t do that. While it currently has the highest dailies from the released songs, it’s still not good numbers (won’t reach 25m at current rate before nye and won’t keep up current rate until then unless made a single). with mol, Atlantic didn’t play the streaming game well, but have seemingly lucked out with b&b being a good streaming recurrent song. WLW currently has the best dailies except for LSS, and although o can’t stand the song, it was clearly meant to be a single and they missed the opportunity. After waiting this long, I hope they wait for the data before pushing a song, but for me FKOH at the stage would be pointless 1

People don't do albums anymore and she's not gonna sell loads of albums anyway. FKOH is generic but it has the best chance at doing anything during summer. None of the other 'uptempos' would have the commercial appeal of FKOH. A ballad won't work now, that should come fall/winter. I say this as someone who isn't even that fussed with FKOH myself, there just isn't anything better that's more suited to work right now. This is all under the assumption we're trying to get commercial success. If we're (or the label/Kelly) don't care, then just go with anything else.
stoopidjenna Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Magic hit me like a brick. It wasn’t mentioned much after Belasco so I didn’t have high expectations, but it’s probably my favorite. Interestingly, the songs that are more about the love part of the relationship were the ones I’ve wanted to go back to most (Magic, Chemistry, and I guess I’m one of the few that genuinely enjoys FKOH). Lighthouse was a bit overhyped to me but it’s a beautiful song. The melody and production are very similar to Tightrope imo. Skip This Part fully lived up to the hype though, absolutely heartbreaking. Rock Hudson was also kind of unexpected, I thought it was going to be another cheeky song but it’s quite emotional. I’m not sure I fully get the title/reference but I‘m loving the track itself. The piece by piece callback is really well executed, I “Hero” could have been a more fitting title from that line. That’s Right really is an oddball, sonically it’s like Go High and IHAD had a baby. I was expecting more prominent drums with the feature. Lyrically I guess it fits with the album and works as a kiss off, but still pretty random. Maybe it’s cool live? But overall I’m really pleased. Very different from what I was hoping for, but considering what I wanted was an album of melancholy ballads, maybe that’s a good thing since some of my favorites ended up being the uptempo tracks. I’m excited to really listen to the lyrics though, I hear a lot of recurring themes and callbacks throughout the album that I’m curious to unpack. Standouts: Skip This Part, Mine, Down To You, Chemistry, Magic Near-Perfect: Favorite Kind of High, Rock Hudson, I Hate Love Solid: High Road, Lighthouse, Red Flag Collector Average: Me, My Mistake ???: That’s Right 1
Nerevanin Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 I guess I'll wait till the release, dunno where y'all are listening. Reading the reviews, I'm glad the recent meltdowns weren't worth it 1
kellebrity98 Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 can we all agree that the label MUST push Skip This Part as the single? The last 45 seconds… I am dying, chills… for me it is a def top10 KC
BravoTangoWhiskey Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 I honestly can’t at how great this album sounds with proper headphones I bet it sounds AMAZING in the car

Julianna Calm Down Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 (edited) I can totally understand why That’s Right is the closing track on the album, and why it sticks out like a sore thumb. It represents her being done processing the relationship and the divorce. That’s Right is a symbol that she’s made it out to the other side, and the “other side” has a different sound and feel to it, if that makes sense. She’s let go, and this new stage happens to sound and feel like a Caribbean breeze. ☀️ 🏖 🌊 Plus it’s hella catchy. Edited June 18, 2023 by Julianna Calm Down 1
