Julianna Calm Down Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 If anyone has the album in full, let me know via dm 😘
ATRL Moderator Bloo Posted June 17, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted June 17, 2023 The album is much better than I anticipated. I have been very vocal about not liking the songs leading up to the release. But the album works a lot better as a collective body of work. I still have some criticisms about the order of the tracks and what not, but the album is very good. I would say it's not as good as MOL though, but I've only listened to it once. Below are my general "tiers" of the songs. The Masterpieces Magic (my personal favorite) Skip This Part Lighthouse Down To You The Highlights I Hate Love High Road Chemistry Rock Hudson The Average Me Mine Red Flag Collector My Mistake (this song needs much more time with me; it's not bad but it hasn't sunk in for me yet and I can easily see it growing on me) The Bad Favorite Kind of High The "I Don't Know Wtf I Just Heard" That's Right (listening to this was the most confusing and out of body experience I've had on the album, couldn't stop making sounds listening to it) I need more fathoming and time with this album. But overall, it's good. I think the theme is a bit undercooked though and she could have explored the themes of divorce a bit more. But the songs are sufficient enough. I don't think this works well as a concept album if that's what you're going in expecting. 1
BravoTangoWhiskey Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) Wow Spoiler I'm still digesting after a first listen, but I think its clear the strategy must've been release the weaker tracks before the album releases...that said, they all work so well in the context of the album (except fkoh, which weirdly as part of the album is probably among the weakest 3 for me). Clarksonator Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) WHAT an album, so unexpected after the mediocre tracks she released up till now. She still got it. Edited June 17, 2023 by Clarksonator 1

rmmas Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 You know this is Kelly we are talking about. They always chose the wrong single, they would pick FKOH eventually.

gfgfgf14 Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 So jelly want to hear it and it is everywhere but maybe I will be able to last til Friday. Is Lighthouse really as epic as people are saying?

And prob top 10 in het catalog.

KevinKDC Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 The way she sings "By the way piece by piece, my here is me".

There aren't music videos for this era. All of the songs were filmed live in HD. Radio push is the most irrelevant as it's ever been. I really don't think singles matter for this era. The best we can hope for are some TKCS performances and something to strike momentum on TikTok. Although, TR being a single would be the most hilarious thing Kelly has ever done and I would be here for it.
Cupid Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Skip This Part - heavenly, heart-breaking, deserves to be a single - 10/10 Mine - contemporary, mature, gut-wrenching - still a great single - 8/10 High Road - cute bop, nice production, needs to be amped up a bit more - 7/10 Me - great gowns, beautiful vocals - 7/10 Down To You - great pre-chorus, chorus is generic/boring, already overrated, it's a cute bop - 7/10 Chemistry - love to hear the softer side of her voice, very ethereal track, very sweet - 7/10 Favourite Kind Of High - would have been a huge bop in 2017, it's fun though - 7/10 Magic - it's like a chilled catch my breath, so light and airy, such a beautiful song - 9/10 Lighthouse - beautiful, very gp-friendly stunning ballad, only critique is it needed a big moment at the end - 10/10 Rock Hudson - great potential but feels kinda watered down, where's the edge? - 7/10 My Mistake - nice change of vibe, great melody, could have gone a little bigger - 8/10 Red Flag Collector - fun bop, production feels a bit unfinished, nice melody - 7/10 I Hate Love - another cute bop, verses are a bit clunky but it's a fun P!nk song - 7/10 That's Right - why? - 6/10 Overall it's a nice album, I wish she leaned more into the style of Skip, Mine, Lighthouse - rather than middle of the road 'bops' - maybe it's the long wait, or the overhype, but it wasn't really what I (or probably most) was expecting. We really need to have a word with Kelly and these insider baguettes because they cannot describe an album/song for the life of me. Where are those baguettes who said this sounded like Breakaway lmao. I wanted a little more edge I guess - but there's a few songs I'll come back to a lot and cant wait to hear live. Fav songs are.. Skip This Part Lighthouse Mine Magic My Mistake

Where are those baguettes who said this sounded like Breakaway lmao. Yeah, I don't understand this at all. This album sounds so wildly different from anything people described. Fortunately, I don't buy into Kelly's descriptions at all because she's usually horrible at that. But the fan descriptions threw me off. People saying FKOH is the obvious bop of the album really upset me when it dropped and I hated it (still do). It's not the scathing divorce album many may have expected, especially based on descriptions given by some fans and Kelly herself. But, I think many will have appropriately tempered expectations from the chosen songs to kickstart the era.
Cupid Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 I'm not expecting any commercial success single wise but if we're talking realistically it should go... Summer single: FKOH (push the remix as well) Fall/Winter single: Lighthouse or Skip This Part and that's about it, nothing else would really work as a single tbh
KevinKDC Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 The fact that Kelly said "Cry" would've fit on this album

I find it more of a natural follow on from PBP/MOL if anything (I could accept a few sprinkles of Stronger), I don't hear Breakaway at all. Before the era I was expecting My December level heartbreak, as the era started I was expecting Mine level production, and with each new song I was like ok we're getting very middle of the road P!nk here. I'm glad there's a few gems on the album, it's gonna be a great live album. I think she needs to experiment with some new producers to freshen it up a bit tbh.
kellebrity98 Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 I remember hearing some guitar when a Rock Hudson snippet surfaced 2-3 months ago but the album version for me is disappointing.
Heartbeat Song Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Hold up how has everyone heard it lol. I'm out of the loop. Someone dm me
