Relampago. Posted Tuesday at 11:33 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:33 PM Radical Optimism is really a good album once you ignore everyone complaining about it Just so much more fun and easy to listen to than a lot of music for me nowadays 4

I personally find it difficult to call RO a "really good" album - equally as difficult as calling it "bad". It's pretty solid through and through, sometimes falling to "meh" and something rising to "great". To me! 1

To be fair I said "really a good album" not "a really good album" meaning I basically think it's actually good and easy to listen to, not a "really good" as in "great" album lol Falling Forever, Houdini, Training Season, Whatcha Doin, End of an Era, Illusion and Maria are all pretty solid songs to me, with some of them being among the best in her discography. The weakest song to me is Happy For You or Anything For Love and they're mostly just meh, not hard skips.

All in all it's a really enjoyable listen. She just needs to give more oomph with DL 4. Another safe album like RO will only harm her. 1
katara Posted Wednesday at 06:54 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:54 AM Delusion is such a cute easy bop. Will never understand how it tanked so badly. Deserved at least Break My Heart level sucess.
aaron511 Posted Wednesday at 10:12 AM Posted Wednesday at 10:12 AM I agree with what was said earlier. It's really a good album. Most of the songs are enjoyable but it lacks the high highs for me... Houdini, Falling Forever and Maria are solid 9/10 songs for me (9/10 is pretty ******* great) but FN had several 10/10s so it falls slightly flat in comparison 1

Cain Posted Wednesday at 12:07 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 12:07 PM I stan my girl but I really don't revisit RO often, the songs just don't grab me and they lack detailed production. I listened to FN on new headphones recently and there were still new sounds I discovered the extended RO album was also a huge fumble for me, they added nothing exciting to the productions The songs I like most are Houdini and EOAE, even Training Season is 'alright' to me (the BRIT live version serves tho)
Solaria Posted Wednesday at 12:56 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:56 PM RO is good for what it is and it has a lot of enjoyable songs, but what it COULD have been and what Dua was trying to sell us was always more exciting than what the final thing ended up being. The build up and hype was more exciting than the album itself. Houdini remains her best song to date though
Saddy Posted Wednesday at 04:46 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:46 PM Hey, I'm hosting Soft Landings of '23/'24 and I wanted to let y'all know that Dua is part of this rate, so feel free to join
