Anyways, to keep this thread alive, what songs or artists have you guys been listening to (outside of Beyonce and DC)? I've been listening to Brandy and lots of kpop.

I need to tap into her discography more. I‘m always on the I Wanna Be Down, Afrodisiac, Full Moon circle only lol

Her albums are actually really good. I mean, it's an exaggeration to call her the vocal bible but she did leave a huge mark in the R&B scene. People don't give her enough credit for birthing alternative R&B with Afrodisiac (that whole album is amazing & ahead of its time). Full Moon, Human and Two Eleven are very solid albums as well. Two Eleven in particular has a very trendy sound. The rest of her albums are a mixed bag but her discography in average excels that of any other main R&B girls.

I disagree with this part. I feel like Beyoncé actually lost respect because she decided to stay with a cheater. I remember when lemonade came out, first reaction people had was "oh she was singing about being independent and women empowerment her whole career but stayed with a man who cheated on her?!"

Of course it's her personal life and she did what felt right to her but their relationship is not "goals" anymore.

I hear you.

And while I personally don't endorse any of the antics, the reality is that her staying and "weathering the storm" represents an awkward kind of relatability because a lot of people ultimately do stay.

Yes, her brand at that point took a bit of a hit (given how much she championed the independent woman), but it a) was not as much of a hit as Jay-hating stans think and b) it actually saw her morph her brand and story into something less "perfected" and more "real", "raw", and relatable. She worked it into a win.

She also doesn't give genteel woman bowing down at her man. She's given us the Sorry's and the Don't Hurt Yourself's...publicly making clear she won't be f*cked with. Savage remix sees her flaunting and flexing her continued sexuality. From a brand perspective, it all kinda reaffirms her powerful positioning. Publicly at least.

She also has the benefit of having various angles to work with whatever happens. They stay together, she/they can play up the power couple or pivot back to their pre-marriage level of secrecy/brand seperate-ness. They break up for any reason? She has her Tina Tuner What's Love Got To Do With It / rebirth of her female independence ish.

In short, she's good regardless.

I just bought Kesha's Animal and Gaga's The Fame. Few months ago, I bought Sour and Planet Her as well as Adele's 19,21,25. I feel like 21 is overrated while 19/25 is superior (25 is the best). Animal and Fame had good singles but I'm a bit not fond of the album tracks but suprisingly Kesha had better album tracks. Planet Her is bop tho and Sour is good but I could easily get bored after two listens.

That said, Jay's presence is not black and white.

On the one hand, she's had some very tangible benefits from the association. The power couple edit has gifted her relevancy in spaces the average MPG has no potency: Hip-Hop and broader culture (beyond music). Their lengthy relationship also still stands as "goals" to many and even sharing its cracks unlocked a whole new level of critical acclaim and relatability.

Of course, there's no denying the musical attachment of late has been detrimental. Or at the very least has served zero benefit to her. But I guess it's just what it is. She's reached the level where she's going to do what works for her relationship and family life more broadly. Like touring with Jay when we all wanted a solo album and our after Coachella :coffee:

Well, there's good and bad about their relationship. I just wonder how would Matthew feel considering he kinda built Bey's career only for B to become Tidal's slave with Lemonade and bringing Jay Z to not one but two of her tours as well as making a (flop) album which eventually kinda damage her reputation. Additionally, Tidal exclusive hinder the (even greater) potential success of Lemonade.

Nevertheless, both man are cheaters, I'm glad B is still sane.

That's an awful news. Both are pretty ladies cheated by man.

B and Shakira should do a collaborative album now :keir: jk

They also don't have the same relationship... It's not as if Shakira didn't forgive this man before and her ugly ex who was also a serial cheating pig. We should let those women do what makes them happy, whatever it is.

I mean its clear shes not doing worldwide long tours because she cant trust Jay, lets face it. The moment shes gone for 2 months, she has to fear he's going to cheat on her

She's smart enough to know a man is going to cheat whether you're at home with the kids or oceans away. Give her a little more credit than that.

Long, worldwide tours are grueling. Just because someone like Madonna did it when she had kids doesn't mean Bey wants that life. I think she's craved stability and a peaceful home life since she's never had it after working and traveling her entire life.

True, thats probably also reason for her not to do it. I mean I cant complain, im thankful for being European and therefore able to see her live quite easily whenever she decides to do tours.

Can we please stop commenting about her relationship? Relationships are hard and nobody can understand her position but herself. Imagine being so popular and rich and powerful as her, just try to imagine. There are literally millions of people just waiting for her to be single and take advantage of her. The fear of only that would make want to stay with a man I was with for almost half of my life tbh. And on top of that, they have 3 children, it just gets harder and harder. Maybe Jay has really changed for the better, have you thought of that? Let her live her life how she wants. We all did mistakes in our lives, we all forgave people that we love.

on that note I won’t forgive her, if she doesn’t release an album this year :skull:

Let me stan Shakira since this puta nowhere to be found.

You just know Shakira is going to deliver a great album, plus she’s been looking gorgeous in all her appearances.

Still mad they never performed together.

You're crossing the line a bit. You don't know that. Even in 2013, she only visited 2 continents, as a matter of fact since 4, she has only visited 2 continents. She's not a dumb airhead of a woman, let her live her life as she sees fit.

I just wish she it will no cross over to her professional life.

Anyway... I hope she has CDs and Vinyls ready first week. Delaying it like for ST is not a winning strategy nowadays. I am sure Kendrick could have done more with CDs and Vinyls ready on day 1.

Just a reminder that Find Your Way Back is the most streamed album track from TG(non served to radio, non singles) .

Someone, I don't remember who, used to argue with me that we FYWB's lovers are all talk but the song's streams were terrible bla bla bla. As Atrlers say : "talent always wins". :-*:alexz3:

Now she just needs to add it to the tour's setlist. I don't think Otherside is a realistic wish but a cute insta live will do.
