Maybe the hype isn’t really there like we thought? I did find it weird while the reception was mostly positive it wasn’t like it was during Beyoncé or Lemonade. Didn’t see as many celebs post about it, pitchfork BNM, etc It just feels different like I was saying yesterday. I could also be feeling this way because we are completely in the dark :deadbanana2:

Because it’s different? Can’t really compare to those eras. It’s a 6 week wait and not much happened. Seemed really pointless tbh.

About the vinyls. Why hasn’t she posted them on her twitter or insta? Makes no sense.

Not them changing the name to Dol-Bey. :rip:

At least they’re using it in its correctly pronounced form.

everytime a major company uses “Bey” as “Bae” an aspiring MPG loses her wings

I really thought we'd get something today :toofunny3:

June 21, summer solstice - Blacks out social media profiles

July 1 - August 2022 British Vogue. Announces album

July 3 - boxes, vinyl on website, drops BMS

July 10 - Reveals Cover

We have less than three weeks to wait. :cm:

Its pretty evident they did everything to coincide with Pride. I can't figure out any other reason for the protracted rollout.

I mean…I personally do think the hype around Bey has died a bit due to EIL/TG being horribly dealt with, but I think the main reason this project isn’t being hyped up is cause there’s nothing to really hype up yet. The reason why people go crazy for Bey isn’t just cause she’s Bey but cause she breaks the mold.

For Self-Titled she surprise dropped an album that nobody was expecting, and also had a clear feminist message that other female celebs wanted to get behind

For Lemonade she did the SB, had a whole film that related to Black Womanhood, was being boycotted by police, did a VMA Medley just for fun, etc.

For Homecoming she turned what is normally just a huge festival performance into a signature moment in her career.

If/when Renaissance changes the game then folks will sing her praises. I do think something is coming though, cause I don’t see Dolby/TikTok/Spotify changing bios if she doesn’t intend to do something big.

Anyway, I’m just glad that Bey is giving us a fun album. EIL came out right when the Anti-Billionaire discourse was picking up steam, The Gift was overlapping with a lot of discourse on “Black Americans vs. Black Africans” that was circulating, and folks were getting pretty sick of protest music.

She was honestly prime for a hate train to start forming against her.

They definitely killed the hype she had lol. EIL was only released for the tour and then abandoned. I don’t know why they even bothered doing it.

when the album drops and she doesn’t even post about it

Lizzo must be exhausted with all the promo she’s doin…must be nice for her fans. Anyway, I can’t wait to see Bey actually release the wiggle.

It aged terribly too. They should've just released Apesh!t as a standalone single and called it a day

Oop, that was a typo. But works considering the reality of this rollout.

There are EIL apologists among us but if we're facing facts Summer is the only track that will stand the test of time. Nice (formerly my favorite on the album) and Boss are ATROCIOUS now.

Apeshit is still fun, but their Drake and SZA cosplay on Friends + Heard About Us respectively is laughable. You can tell it was thrown together under pressure and not out of fun.

Which is sad, because I really think they could've served an absolute classic album if they'd taken their time and dropped it in 2014 when people were thirsting for it. (Still glad we got Lemonade instead, tho)

Summer is SOOOO good

I always thought EIL was just a culmination of Lemonade and 444. It was their way of showing a United front which was super annoying because they already put their business out there and people made their opinions. Also new music for their joint tour and wasn’t Jay’s tour flopping at the time so they decided to join together???

IDK the things Bey has done for this man. Let me be quiet. ?

I kinda wish they did a 2-track EP with "Summer" & "Apeshit" - with both videos dropping the dame day. That would have been more iconic and would have setup the album better.

I s2g if Jessie Ware isn’t on Renaissance I’m gonna riot (unless there are no collabs at all)

If Nazi Meinkampf can get Jessie for The Crying Game then Beyoncé can get her too. If she wants her. :jonny:  Remains to be seen.

Maybe she wants BMS to peak on radio before dropping promo for it? A 6 week head start for sustain? It's about to head to #1 because there is no other competition ahead who is able to garner as many genres on radio at once.

Oh and I don't for a second believe they have nothing planned. Beyoncé is once again giving us a surprise era, just not in the literal sense of the word. I'm expecting her to break the internet this week someway, somehow. Get ready.
