She could have also announced a special FUNDRAISING concert effort for California. :coffee2:

Weak theory here but,

If the Art Book was meant to be released for Christmas, maybe something tied to it (visuals/documentary) was supposed to drop immediately after the Christmas show. Maybe the '14.1.25 Announcement' was actually a fairly last minute decision, because the team decided at the last minute not to drop something on Christmas Day? So they just lied and said the art book was delayed and would be shipped at a later date (the release of what they're linked to).

Something to support this: The teaser seems to have been recorded at the same time of the pre-recorded segment of the Beyonce Bowl (same horse, same hair, on a football field). This would suggest it was originally intended to be footage to use in a teaser for the actual Beyonce Bowl (ie the car and cactus video teasers).

I had the same thoughts. The art book could have been delayed because something was supposed to drop on 12.13 (the original shipping date) or Christmas.

Well yes, it is 136 pages with unseen content :cupid:

You don't think she could have said it 6pm Monday or Sunday or Saturday or when she made her contribution? Like it's been obvious the fires were a problem.

Maybe she could have. But does 3 days really make that much of a difference?

I think there is a reason it happened at the last minute and not before. And it was not to antagonize the hive. 😅

And her saying it then vs now would have changed what exactly?

This trilogy act has truly been cursed from the beginning like wtf

Renaissance is not cursed shut you mouth. :grump:

I think the magic of Parkwood is simultaneously its Achilles heel.  After nearly two decades, she still runs it like an intrepid start-up.  It seems chaotic to work there, and I imagine it must be INCREDIBLY stressful to work for her... but the sense of pride and dopamine when you fulfill her vision and the accolades come in must feel just as good.  I don't think the run and gun method can be very healthy for her, either, and we've seen she pushes herself to the absolute human limit when she's working, which is why she needs large stretches of off time out of the public eye.

I'm all for the art and content it does provide, but they really need to figure out how to balance being creatives with being a company that has millions if not billions of dollars in businesses under their umbrella.  They need more structure.

source: me, someone who has worked for a creative boss that would change their mind weekly, throwing weeks or months of planning to the wind.

I will never get over the sloppy roll out of "BREAK MY SOUL," and no aesthetic of the era other than black screens with white fonts to debut the RENAISSANCE era. Then, a week later, they upload the "official" cover art. :rip:

Are you asking for her to get dragged more? This isn't the 1980's.

If she did a concert and the proceeds went to California, it would be amazing PR, that sort of thing always works. I just finished watching Snoop Dogg on Jimmy Kimmel (last night) and he actually mentioned they're working on something of the sort right now with a bunch of LA artists.

Ariana did it after the massacre at her concert too and it was amazing and honestly boosted her profile tenfold and was the beginning of her MPG status.

TWO VERSIONS of the cover art, no less! One version mirrored! Nobody knew which was correct!

On a serious note, Ariana did this because she was directly impacted and affected by the attack. The LA wildfires are different. They're exacerbating class tensions because of celebrity impact on climate change and because local millionaires and billionaires are directly contributing to the droughts in the region by using insane amounts of water at their homes. If there was ever a time for Beyonce to lay low and not get too involved besides a charitable donation, it's now. The people of LA do not want a local billionaire to center herself as their entertainer-come-savior, and I do not want a whole new wave of backlash for her to deal with on top of what she must already be dealing with with the lawsuits against her husband.

I do agree with Swizzman, it shouldn't burdened us, and that's really the bottom line. That's just how it is. I also completely understand TizTiz' frustration and agree with Satellites that post-Lemonade eras have been somewhat of a rupture and departure from the Beyoncé we were used to, even things as small and as simple as me always adoring the fact that she was always on time on stage, completely changed. She used to always be on time!! There was this element of high-level reliability, incredible professionalism and surety in her plans, her work that set her apart, everything that was set was set. She's also been doing this for her while, since 14 years old, maybe she's just exhausted like any human being and that's understandable.

It's the way it is, as someone has mentioned, this can't be sustainable in the long term and I think that's why ST and Lem relatively worked, they were working in startup mode, things were still exciting, a few bad moves here and there but the innovation was high, now things are maybe not as exciting so it's tiring : the late changes of plans, the scrapping, the hesitation, the fact that she constantly changes her mind etc. Anyway as long as she's good, happy and healthy.

Yes, I agree. I was using marketing to mainly mean "promo that the Hive wants of her" but certainly the entire thing is marketing for her, her brand, her image, her legacy. And the mysterious "I only appear when it is time to appear" vibe she's given since 2013 is definitely part of that.

BUT I don't think the music itself is so much used as a product to market, but as art to market such that it circles back to say something about Beyoncé the singer, artist, legend, etc. If she saw her music as a product, she'd be trying to sell it more. Since she sees it as art, she's not forcing it on people, which is always at the detriment to people thinking something is art.

And that's entirely marketing: the approach is to see this as a product of art rather than a product. However, it still is a product.

But what you said was "nothing about this trilogy has even been finished".

COWBOY CARTER was finished by the planned release date. That's a fact.

Whether or not the vinyls were, doesn't make the album unfinished. At 12:00 AM on March 29th, you and the rest of the world got the finished and complete COWBOY CARTER. She didn't wait a week to add YA YA to streaming, or announce "wait I have a new version of II HANDS II HEAVEN y'all!". The "unfinished" version came in the form of something literally labelled as "limited edition". Whether that was a clever fix or not, COWBOY CARTER was released in full on the day that was scheduled.

"COWBOY CARTER" was thrown together by the premature release date. This clearly is the version she settle on putting out. Hell, even the limited version packaging is in way that lets you know it was thrown together to fulfill the printing date.

The album was being tweaked after everything was set in stone, hence why songs were added at the last minute and the official version was sent to printing afterwards. Same with "RENAISSANCE" being set in stone, yet she was filming "BREAK MY SOUL" randomly in New York afterwards, or filming "VIRGOS GROOVE" a year later. The album didn't even have a track list until days before the digital release.

Frankly, 4 has aged so well.

Countdown is one of her most innovative and best songs.

A great album. Definitely my top 4 so far in her discography, fighting that spot with B'Day (standard edition, I don't use the other one).

4, B'Day and Lemonade have the the three best tracklists and lengths of her career. Just clean, tight, to the point. Those 3 albums are really close to my heart.
