Fruity Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Tina Turner - What's Love Got to Do with It: AAA (absolutely amazing anthem) Bridgit Mendler - Do You Miss Me At All: it's vaguely interesting but not really doing it for me I'm afraid! Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For: words can't describe how EUPHORIC this is WHEWWWWWWWWW Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth: it's kind of just a vibe but.. well nothing more? like its certainly atmospheric and i enjoyed this more than i remember, but it's still not an absolute joy to listen to Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You: classic and objectively good pop but I'm not into her more shouty songs pop choruses, sue me! En Vogue - My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It): ohhhhhh yesss !!!! very cute choice Lana Del Rey - ****ed My Way Up To The Top: this album is pretty dull to me honestly but it's a brazen + fun concept lyrically and i can just about get on bored with the sound Arctic Monkeys - why’d you only call me when you’re high: this album was pretty much on repeat at every straight boy house party i attended at uni. thankfully ive kind of recovered from that PTSD and I do appreciate this is pretty nice Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown: kind of dark and cool, but also kind of sounds like noise. I feel the elements don't come together as beautifully as elsewhere on this album. still pretty good tho x Caroline Polachek - So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings: this song always used to autoplay for me on spotify. it's like they NEEDED me to get into her... the payola fff. anyways i always let the song play its cute x Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You out of My Head: PLEASE, you did well snatching this! an absolute twelve out of 10 Ellie Goulding - Something In The Way You Move: well, it's an Ellie Goulding song... thankfully its one from her best album! unfortunately it's not one i ever come back to, but it's fine. safe choice Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out: it's certainly not bad,, in fact it's pretty intricate and interesting but i'm sorry it's just all a bit try hard for me... I couldn't enjoy it (as much as I tried to) Taylor Swift - All You Had To Do Was Stay: I'm sure you'll be safe with this but it's honestly WEAK for Taylor! like overall it's only a soft pass since the production is very clean etc (I mean it's 1989) but this was always SOOO cheesy to me Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight): oh yes! this will certainly get panned by some but it's like, a HUGE classic + soft collapse Brandy - U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To): soft toot, pretty random choice but luv this album and u couldn't go too wrong with it for me! Mya - Case of the Ex (Whatcha gonna do): very nostalgic. it didn't hold up SUPER well if we're being honest. the production is serving sparse and honestly kind of cheap. but it's kind of part of the appeal. cute middling entry Rihanna feat. Eminem - Love the Way You Lie (Part II): its cute and middling. i only really use this song for her slayful live performances on the loud tour. it's definitely less aged than its big sis

Auburn Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Spoiler Tina Turner - What's Love Got to Do with It she’s just such a legend and this is just such a classic Bridgit Mendler - Do You Miss Me At All this was very nice, not sure where it will end cuz this round is so strong Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For I’ve always loved this song tbh Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth it’s boring, it goes nowhere Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You it’s a mega bop and a mega smash En Vogue - My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) it’s a classic, we’ll see where it compares to the others tho Lana Del Rey - ****ed My Way Up To The Top I actually love this song lol Arctic Monkeys - why’d you only call me when you’re high the song just finished and I can’t even remember how it went tbh Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown god, no. Caroline Polachek - So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings it’s cute Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You out of My Head found my #1? LEGEND Ellie Goulding - Something In The Way You Move yup yup! Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out this got better halfway thru, but it’s not excellent either Taylor Swift - All You Had To Do Was Stay aged like milk, and was incredibly basic to begin with, but still okay Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) it’s a classic, should be somewhere in the middle Brandy - U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To) it’s amazing pretty much Mya - Case of the Ex (Whatcha gonna do) such an underrated queen, glad to see this here! Lucky#17 Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Spoiler Tina Turner — What’s Love Got to Do With It No cons, a classic! Bridgit Mendler — Do You Miss Me At All Pleasant listen. Already know this’ll be in the bottom half of my rankings just comparing it to songs I know & love here. Hope it can pull through in the end. Calvin Harris f/ Rihanna — This Is What You Came For Had this as my backup option. Still enjoy it lots. Grimes — So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth The production engaged me but that was about it. There's just too many songs I like in a round like this to bump this up just for production appreciation. Kelly Clarkson — My Life Would Suck Without You Ohmy this was a TRACK a decade ago. Haven’t listened in forever — surprised with how much I still enjoy it. En Vogue — My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It) Originally sent this for the 90s round before changing to I’m Your Baby Tonight. It’s such a gem, I hope it doesn’t get overlooked! Lana Del Rey — ****ed My Way Up to the Top Haven’t listened to this one in a while — still very keen on it. Arctic Monkeys — Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High? Don’t really listen to this style of music but this was pleasant! Billie Eilish — you should see me in a crown One of the songs from her I’m familiar with. Always loved the production on this one but I’m sure it’ll fall towards the bottom of my rankings since there’s a handful of songs I love much more here. Caroline Polachek — So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings Keep hearing of her & keep listening to her songs in these games but I’m still too lazy to check-check her out. This is pretty fun, should do well. Kylie Minogue — Can’t Get You Out of My Head ABSOLUTELY. It just is what it is. Ellie Goulding — Something in the Way You Move One of the better songs from that album. Probably middle of my rankings. Kelsey Lu & Yves Tumor — let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out Production towards the end was engaging, but couldn’t get into any other part of it. Taylor Swift — All You Had to Do Was Stay One of my favorites from this album when it came out but I don’t love it as much as I remember. ABBA — Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) It’s hard not to compare to Madonna since she’d just won the other round. Hung Up’s more for me, but I still love the original. Brandy — U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To) **** this is sooooo slick. Absolutely love it. Might have it on repeat for the next few nights. Mya — Case of the Ex (Whatcha Gonna Do) Might miss the top half of my rankings but still a lovely choice. Rihanna — Love the Way You Lie (Part II) fff; @ the “Part II” loophole. It's a nice extension of the original but I’ve hardly returned to it since the album's release.
touya kinomoto Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Tina Turner - What's Love Got to Do with It • An undeniable classic! A highlight in Miss Turner's illustrious career. The way it aged so well. Ugh, great choice with this one. Bridgit Mendler - Do You Miss Me At All • To quote Miss Alyssa Edwards, "Mama, this is garbage." Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For • Good production but I find it kinda bland and repetitive. Not the worse song of the round tho. Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth • Pls Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You • This bops. Kinda aged a bit tho. En Vogue - My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) • Not another LSFYL song kii. Anyhow, only the breakdown part is iconic. The rest of the song tho is kinda not it. Lana Del Rey - ****ed My Way Up To The Top • Of all the Lana del Rey songs to choose for this round... I wish you... an ounce of luck. Arctic Monkeys - why’d you only call me when you’re high • Ah, kings! I really like this. It has the signature Arctic Monkeys production and stylings but still not sounding samey as their other songs. Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown • No, ma'am. Please no. It's next to xanny as the worst song from this (overrated) album. Caroline Polachek - So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings •A bop. Simply a bop. Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You out of My Head Spoiler • Pls are you really gay if you hate this song? My number one, easily. Ellie Goulding - Something In The Way You Move • Delirium is kinda underrated among Goulddiggers but I have always admired this song. Will definitely rank high for me. Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out • Pls [2] Taylor Swift - All You Had To Do Was Stay • First of all, you're welcome. It's my first choice but I gave it up. Second, it's one of the highs of this album but just like the album as a whole, this has aged kinda bad. Still far from the worst, enough to be touted as safe. Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) • Wanna piggyback off Hung Up's win, huh? I know this was released a long time ago but unlike some of the other classics sent before, this really feels it was released of its time. Aged, if I may say but still not bad. Brandy - U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To) •Love Brandy and always loved this song. Good choice. Mya - Case of the Ex (Whatcha gonna do) • Haven't heard this in a while and I remember enjoying this more then. Idk maybe because I don't have much memories attached to this song. Rihanna feat. Eminem - Love the Way You Lie (Part II) • It's bad. Simply bad. However, that part in the bridge before Eminem comes in is one of my favorite Rihanna vocal moments.
Mr. Duff Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Tina Turner - What's Love Got to Do with It Really nice, classic Bridgit Mendler - Do You Miss Me At All it's pretty good, love the production Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For bop, but very generic, middling I guess Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth very chill but it's just somehow in the background. Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You bop, love it. En Vogue - My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) ooh cool sound Lana Del Rey - ****ed My Way Up To The Top not a standout for sure but it has its moments Arctic Monkeys - why’d you only call me when you’re high a little Twenty One Pilots, which is good in my book Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown I thought about this choice but I thought it's not strong enough, but you'll be fine I'm sure, good song Caroline Polachek - So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings cute, but pretty weak Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You out of My Head classic Ellie Goulding - Something In The Way You Move bop Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out risky, but don't think it's that good, sorry Taylor Swift - All You Had To Do Was Stay bop, but I don't like it as much now as when it was released Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) woo where Hung Up is sampled, nice. ABBA always has a special place in my heart Brandy - U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To) really cute Mya - Case of the Ex (Whatcha gonna do) cute Rihanna feat. Eminem - Love the Way You Lie (Part II) beautiful
Navyofbadgals Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Spoiler Tina Turner - What's Love Got to Do with It cute! Definite classic and I enjoyed this Bridgit Mendler - Do You Miss Me At All YUP! Bridgit SERVED here idc idc Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For anyone hating on this is annoying idc idc, this is a huge euphoric bop Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth It's okay. I don't have a strong connection to miss anthropocene anyways. This song sets a nice vibe but doesn't really go anywhere. I guess we'll see where this will land cause I do not hate or love it Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You Love the chorus, the rest here is a tad bit weak I'll admit. Decent overall En Vogue - My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) Yeah I didn't really like this. It misses some oomph and it's a bit repetitive as well. Not my favorite song here sorry! Lana Del Rey - ****ed My Way Up To The Top UV is either amazing or boring, and this one is closer to the boring category for me sadly. The title here is fun I guess but the song itself doesn't do much. Arctic Monkeys - why’d you only call me when you’re high big classic, great choice! Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown she could've kept this one tbh. I liked it when it came out for a hot minute but it's always been on the generic side and it has aged quite a bit already She def was still a little lost here musically Caroline Polachek - So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings cute. I'll be honest and say I strongly prefer the other Pang singles (and most album tracks as well) to this. It's a cute bop so nothing to complain over really Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You out of My Head big classic, pop perfection xxx Ellie Goulding - Something In The Way You Move very cute! Such a solid pop song imo Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out I love me some Kelsey, but I'll be honest and say this is not it. It's very boring/pretentious. Not my favorite here at all sorry Taylor Swift - All You Had To Do Was Stay Never really cared for this one tbh. It has aged a bit and I hate the chorus. The verses are cute but idk if they are strong enough to redeem it tbqh Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) that instrumental is just too good to hate on. I still prefer Hung Up, but for this round this is a cute choice. Should get you at least safe and you prolly deserve a high placement as well Brandy - U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To) cute! her vocals as always are amazing. The production on this is cute too, I prefer some other songs here but this is a good pick nevertheless Mya - Case of the Ex (Whatcha gonna do) The Britney Jean singer I see. I'll pass on this just like I passed on that album sorry x It sounds dated and the production here is bordering on annoying. Not really the t Rihanna feat. Eminem - Love the Way You Lie (Part II) The absolute panning this got I never thought it was that bad. Def pales in comparison to the original but I'm a rihallah stan so I either always liked it or forced myself to like it It'll get a decent rank from me but I don't know if that could really save you from the bottom. Def not the smartest choice I guess Spoiler @miguel @Not Like The Movies @Fruity @Staryu @Mr. Duff @Tom Vercetti @Psycho @luckystrike @Touch It @bestfiction @Rence @ughgabriel @Lucky#17 @touya kinomoto @Noah @Sanguine @Rotunda @Jay-Zicario

Bridgit Mendler - Do You Miss Me At All omg YUP YUP praises miss bridgit and this project is so underrated like atlantis and library are so amazing too AND THIS SONG.. i just sobs its good and it slaps soooo hard yup! Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For nils sjoberg did that on this song what a smasha! its totally a bop and its so nice and so catchy as well mhmm!!! its a bit too repetitive but a bop nonetheless Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth music to get high to but i don't do drugs so no! Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You AHHHHHH a classic~ wow this song is so fun to just sing to and it just makes me so happy you just wanna keep listening to this song because of the feeling it gives you En Vogue - My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) oh i only cared about the breakdown i think :/ so yea at least there is one part that i care! the others were just serving hey i'm here too all the time so just there ya Lana Del Rey - ****ed My Way Up To The Top pls this is one of my faves from ultraviolence even if she shaded lorde or not!! anyways, i enjoyed it and i think it deserves more love than the crits it has received now Arctic Monkeys - why’d you only call me when you’re high i mean.. um.. its not bad at all but it didn't make me feel impressed by it either so very middle-of-the-road and leaning towards kinda a low placement for me. quite meh. Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown the way i didn't rlly care about this song at all when it was released giggles however, its sooo much better than lots of songs here so props to you on that! Caroline Polachek - So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings this was one of my favorite songs in 2019 and i still enjoy it a lot now love literally everything about this.. the production. the vocals. what a serve! Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You out of My Head its a fun classic. do i care about it that much? i'm not gay so i can't tell you anything x giggles Ellie Goulding - Something In The Way You Move absolutely miss thing. one of my favorite ellie goulding songs tbh just like so hot.., i think i love everything about this too WOW its just THAT good to me yes! Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out oh bestie.. this is bad for you :(( Taylor Swift - All You Had To Do Was Stay yea its not bad but its very middle-of-the-road for me but ur lucky that its a cute song so prob not too low but if you want to send taylor, u need to do better babes Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) love me some old song! idk idt this is that bad but its also very um.. like it makes me feel weird idk why so i'm prob feeling mixed about this :/ and yes, too long Brandy - U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To) i actually enjoyed it a bit but its quite forgettable compared to others i'm gonna be honest with you! cute but next to gorgeous teas.. Mya - Case of the Ex (Whatcha gonna do) last song teas but i actually prefer this to the brandy song so hey good for you i think! Rihanna feat. Eminem - Love the Way You Lie (Part II) i don't hate this track but i just don't like how her voice sounds in this song so that will bring you down a bit and this is such a weird choice hmm Spoiler @bestfiction @Fruity @Rence @Sanguine @luckystrike @miguel @Noah @Lucky#17 @Tom Vercetti @Jay-Zicario @Touch It @Psycho @Not Like The Movies @touya kinomoto @ughgabriel @Mr. Duff @Rotunda @Staryu
Rotunda Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 TINA TURNER - WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT This is one of those classics where I understand why it's highly regarded, but it still doesn't really work for me. While I love me a raspy singer (see: Macy Gray), Tina's voice has never been my favorite. Private Dancer is great though. BRIDGIT MENDLER - DO YOU MISS ME AT ALL Bridgit's vocal inflection on this track is very weird, like she's overemphasizing certain words and it makes it sound like an American Idol audition/karaoke performance. The song itself is cute enough though. RIHANNA - THIS IS WHAT YOU CAME FOR I hated this song when it came out. I still don't like it, but I'd probably nod my head to the beat if it came on while me and my friends were at a straight bar/club. GRIMES - SO HEAVY I FELL THROUGH THE EARTH This song goes nowhere, but has a very nice ambiance to it. It'd be cute if it played during the end credits of a movie. It's not bad. KELLY CLARKSON - MY LIFE WOULD SUCK WITHOUT YOU This sounds like the type of music that would be on the Victorious soundtrack. This is not a drag even though it sounds like one. EN VOGUE - MY LOVIN' (YOU'RE NEVER GONNA GET IT) Issa classic, but not really one I seek out on my own. The breakdown is excellence though. LANA DEL REY - F***** MY WAY TO THE TOP Sounds like you've f***** your way to the bottom. This is bottom 3 on Ultraviolence but it's not horrible or anything. ARTIC MONKEYS - WHY'D YOU ONLY CALL ME WHEN YOU'RE HIGH? Miley's version >>. This is still nice though. Billie Eilish - YOU SHOULD SEE ME IN A CROWN WWAFAWDWG is one of my favorite albums, and I don't hate any of the songs, but this is definitely one of the weakest ones. Atrl likes to complain about Billie's persona being "put on," and this is probably the best example of that lyrically. CAROLINE POLACHECK - SO HOT YOU'RE HURTING MY FEELINGS Doesn't hit as well as it used to, but still very excellent. KYLIE MINOGUE - CAN'T GET YOU OUT OF MY HEAD This used to play on a commercial all the time as a kid and it would get on my last nerve. I kinda love the song now though. ELLIE GOULDING - SOMETHING IN THE WAY YOU MOVE The Beatles outsold. KELSEY LU - [not bothering with this long ass title] It has some redeemable qualities. TAYLOR SWIFT - ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS STAY This made me realize just how one note 1989 is. It's not a bad song, but very run of the mill Pop-Taylor. ABBA - GIMMIE! GIMMIE! GIMMIE! I've actually been listening to ABBA lately. This isn't in my top 3 ABBA songs but it's alright. BRANDY - U DON'T KNOW ME (LIKE U USED TO) A cute (dated) bop. MYA - CASE OF THE EX (WHATCHA GONNA DO) A cute (dated) bop. RIHANNNA - LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE (PART II) A toxic bop
Not Like The Movies Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Tina Turner - What's Love Got to Do with It - classic bop Bridgit Mendler - Do You Miss Me At All - it's giving blaccent in certain parts, i aint here for it but the song is catchy so points for that Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For - big big bop Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth - this was interesting, her voice sounds nice here Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You - it's alright En Vogue - My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) - me likey Lana Del Rey - ****ed My Way Up To The Top- excellent song from her best album Arctic Monkeys - why’d you only call me when you’re high - the production is great, aside from that it's just ok Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown - excellent song Caroline Polachek - So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings - it's a good song but I always found it overrated by atrlers. Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You out of My Head - very catchy but also very overrated Ellie Goulding - Something In The Way You Move - a huge bop from a solid pop album Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out - I expected this to be bad judging by the critiques, definitely not the worst song here. Taylor Swift - All You Had To Do Was Stay - it's alright, not bad but cute next to gorgeous... Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)- excellent pop song Brandy - U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To)- excellent song from her best album Mya - Case of the Ex (Whatcha gonna do) - a great song by underrated queen Rihanna feat. Eminem - Love the Way You Lie (Part II) - the girls are overexaggerating with the critiques of this song, it's still a good song. And that says a lot because I hate Eminem.

Anthem Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 presented by Anthem Spoiler Tina Turner - “What’s Love Got to Do with It” Classic that has, and forever will, defy the tests of time. Songs like this will never age contextually; and although that fake harmonica is very 80s (Did she share a band with Culture Club?) it still holds up sonically, I think. Fun side story; My ex was a big record collector, and I very rarely encouraged him to buy any albums outside his immediate interest; but “Private Dancer” was one of the album he HAD to have. Truly no collection could be complete without it - and this song is a highlight on that album, which says a lot says it’s a masterpiece start to end. Anyway, WLGTDWI is such a finely-tuned sensual love song. Does she shout a lot in it? Maybe. Am I shouting along with her? YUP. That struggle of of empowerment and guilt in the lyrics is so firey and relatable, how could I not want to belt along? You just know Tina making a comeback of this caliber had all the men shook. Bridgit Mendler - “Do You Miss Me at All” Why did this bitch have to seek post-secondary education when she probably has a bunch more bops like this sitting in her Garage Band drafts. Bridgit has such wonderful control, and she really showcased it here. She’s able to take a rather chill, jazzy production and pull every note a little further with her vocal finesse. It’s a really beautiful song, I love it. Calvin Harris - “This Is What You Came For” From two really strong lyrical songs.. to this. (Sorry Taylor, hihi) I’m not the biggest Calvin or Rihanna fan, but this is at least better than We Found Love. Even though it follows some of the same formula, like the tedious clapping. So 2012. It’s not an awful song, though. If I was drunk at a club I’d definitely be feeling some sort of way, so points there for that. Grimes - “So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth” This sort of sets you into a trance, doesn’t it? Feels like I’ve just stepped foot through a door into another dimension. I guess what I’m trying to say is that this song has some good sound manipulation going on, and Grimes’ vocals are a siren leading you through. Almost weightless. It’s a good thing! I didn’t expect to like this, as Grimes hasn’t always done it for me in the past - but I do. Quite a lot, actually! Kelly Clarkson - “My Life Would Suck Without You” This is such a cute song! Does it use the exact same formula as every other Kelly hit? Sure. But it works - it’s pretty much pop perfection, and it’s unashamed to celebrate that. Especially that final chorus, WHEW. The ascending drums into cymbal crashing in the finale gets me every single time. Very strong entry! This was an instant standout for me when I looked over the initial list. En Vogue - “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get it)” This is one of those songs you recognize, and like it enough, but it sort of falls into the “commercial jingles” category of your memories. Actually.. if anything, having to listen to this song in full has made me realize I don’t like this song as much as I once thought I did. It just feels like it has a lot going on without any of it being great. Sorry. Lana Del Rey - “****ed My Way Up to the Top” This sounds like a more mono version of “Off To The Races” to me. I don’t like it much at all. It’s drab in every aspect without any sort of highlight to give it a slight redemption. Sorry. Arctic Monkeys - “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” This song has an enjoyable rhythm, and goes off a bit towards the end there. Despite it’s length, it gives a pretty good narrative. I think the song really shines in its production work though, it stays modern while pulling inspiration some from 70s sounds. Which is something AM does quite well. Overall a pretty good entry, and a standout for me. Billie Eilish - “you should see me in a crown” Eh, not my favourite from her album. I know it’s intended to appeal to moody high school students, but it just SOUNDS too much like that exact character. Billie and her brother have truly perfected the cringey musical.ly meme production with this track. I guess my only compliment would be that it does an okay job with sudden level collapses, but Billie has other tracks that do it better, sooo.. Caroline Polachek - “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings” We are back to some feel-good productions, yay! This song makes me want to dance around in my bedroom with only fairy lights on. It’s a good vibe, and it brilliantly captivates that overwhelming feeling of having someone catch your eye and instantly take over your mind. I also really like the levels of the vocal echoing in the background! Good job. I can see why Camila Cabello wants to be her! Kylie Minogue - "Can’t Get You out of My Head" Yup, it’s a classic. I’ve always loved how it takes the sultry tone that Kylie is known for, and thrusts into an extremely electronic (should I just say straight ROBOTIC?) sound. It works extremely well, and it’s complementary for the lyrical context. It’s such a vibrant sound, and an infectious beat. Kylie did that. Ellie Goulding - “Something In The Way You Move” It’s not great. It feels generic and noisy to me, and it never truly reaches the height that Ms. Kurstin probably thinks it did. It just feels like another Ellie song, completely void of any personality. Sorry, but this song really falls into the background for me this round. Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - "let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out" I don't get it. Is this an attempt to get out of the game? This sounds like a random track that would be on one of those Spotify generated playlists you put on before bed because it has a low bpm and feels calming. I suppose in that aspect it's a good song. It's calming, and I like the use of percussions. But I don't know, it really does not stand out a great deal. It's almost like an intermission before the second half of songs in the group. Taylor Swift - "All You Had To Do Was Stay" That's right, bestie! This would have been my top song. This is such a shameless pop song that had no reason to go as hard as it does. Everyone saying it's one of the weakest on 1989, but I think it captures the vibe of the album perfectly. Heartbroken yes. Sad? Hell no. I love a liberating pop song that just makes you say **** it all, I'm just going to dance. And I really resonate with the lyrics - like it really could have been that simple. Boys are dumb. Smh. Abba - "Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)" The production here is so massive and ahead of it's time, wow. Like, those synths pulse so hard you can feel it in your soul. This is eurodisco at it's absolute pinnacle if you ask me. It's such a powerful and attention demanding track. It has like three completely different levels too - the intro, verses, and bridge instrumental all take you somewhere no while maintaining the atmosphere. Really solid choice, thank you for giving me an excuse to listen to this again. Brandy - "U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To)" I really like the vibes of this song! Feels very reminiscent of the late 90s. Darkchild was really on another level back then. It's an invigorating track for sure, and I think Brandy did a decent job with the delivery. This is definitely the type of song I'll have stuck in my head for the rest of the day after this. Mya - "Case of the Ex (Whatcha Gonna Do)" This sounds an awful lot like "AM to PM" by Christina Milian, just slightly faster and with some festive jingling added. I don't like this quite as much as I like Christina's song, but it still has some charm. Feels like a song that would play in Halle Berry's "Catwoman" film.. which sounds like an insult, but it's not. That movie's soundtrack slapped. Anyway, it's an okay song. Not my favourite, though. Rihanna feat. Eminem - "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)" I've never liked this song, or the original. I hate the idea of romanticizing spousal abuse, which is all I think of when I hear the song. I always skipped it on Loud, and will probably only listen to half of it now. Maybe if Rihanna had stronger vocals I'd suck it up, but the song doesn't even have that going for it. Sorry.

mokitsu Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 i hope everyone has dark mode enabled to see this again x What's Love Got to Do With It - My mom LOVES Tina so I've been listening to this ever since I was a baby I guess that's why I love her successor BEYONCÉ so much This is a classic, for sure. I wish it had more punch and that it build up over time, as it mostly stays in one key. We'll see how it compares to the rest of the songs in this round. Do You Miss Me at All - I've always loved this song (it's no Atlantis though). It has that bedroom pop, Soundcloud gem quality that I love. This Is What You Came For - This aged kinda horribly. The drop is atrocious and Taylor's oooohs are so annoying. So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth - This Visions reject was my favorite song from this album at one point. I find that the album really aged though. My Life Would Suck - Hmmm this kinda aged but at the same time it's kinda an anthem (immortalized and perfected by the Glee Cast). It'll probably be mid in my rankings. My Lovin' - It's okay but annoying at the same time. ****ed My Way - Hmmm this song was IT in 2014 but it's really cringey now. I love the prechorus though. Why'd You Only Call Me - This on the other hand aged like fine wine. They were in their bag in this album whew. you should see me in a crown - I hated this at first because it feels really tryhard, but in the context of the album it's much better and I've warmed up to it. Cute bop. So Hot - Sooooooooo tired of this my God. BOOT Can't Get You Out of My Head - Here's the ICONIC, TIMELESS, INFLUENTIAL and IMPACTFUL top 10 MASTERPIECE. Something in the Way You Move - I was FUMINGGGGGGG when they made this a single but then I heard it all over radio. It's kinda a pop masterpiece that aged really well yeah. let all the poisons - Love them but this has STRONG "making sure I don't fit in" energy. It's a boot. All You Had To Do - Biggest and most tragic filler in 1989. It's a no from me. That chorus makes my ears hurt. Gimme Gimme Gimme - You know you ate this round up. WHEW I love me some ABBA. U Don't Know Me - I love Never Say Never, every song from it is so good. It's a yes from me. Case of the Ex - I LOOOOOOOOOVE this so much!!! It sounds so fresh too. She had Beyoncé and Brandy scared for a minute. Love the Way You Lie - Absolutely not. This gives me war flashbacks. smholiv Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Spoiler Tina Turner - What's Love Got to Do with It : It's nice. I mean I enjoy it, I do think it held up well, but I suppose I'm not as enthralled as I'd like to be. Bridgit Mendler - Do You Miss Me At All : Her bedroom style pop is really fascinating to me, it doesn't feel out of the blue and is actually really natural. This is one of those songs that grows I think, it really does hit after a little while. Hope she can come back to music at some point because I feel like she has a creative mind that was just getting started. Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For : Such a fun and catchy song. This was that era where there was always a new Calvin Harris feat x song, but throughout that period this always stood out as a fave. I do think it held up well, and maybe its the stan in me but the chorus and the subsequent "you - oo- oo" (ie a Taylor Swift staple in songwriting) are the best moments. So incredibly catchy. This is the closest I'll get to a Rihanna and Taylor Swift collaboration so let me have this :feeling: Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth : I won't get into how much of a disappointment this album was (I also won't get into my realization I was putting faith in Grimes of all people), what I will say is this is a great ambient piece and sets an interesting mood I want to explore... but I also wish it was cut a bit shorter. Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You : Oh.. no :sorro: not very good at all. I am indifferent to this style of generic pop rock for the most part but this is probably one of Kelly's own worst singles. It's just so phoned in... one of those "guaranteed hits" because it doesn't really dare to do anything that could result in anything other than radio filler. En Vogue - My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) : Oop this is nice. I like how dramatic it is Maybe it didn't hold up so well compared to other songs but that's more of a personal opinion. Still decent. Lana Del Rey - ****ed My Way Up To The Top : Cringeworthy and annoying. I'm glad it was sent though so we're a step closer to getting her banned. Arctic Monkeys - why’d you only call me when you’re high : I went into this assuming I'd be indifferent but no, it has some elements I quite like. Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown : Yep. Big bop. As some of you know this is one of my favourite albums and I can't quite say what my favourite tracks are though they tend to be some of the more haunting or emotional songs, but I appreciate songs like this too. It worked for this album and I love the way she delivers these lines with a quiet confidence. Caroline Polachek - So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings : Her voice is painful to listen to. I can't stand this. Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You out of My Head : Addictive, definitely one of the most catchy songs you'd ever hear. Ellie Goulding - Something In The Way You Move : Not bad, its pretty fun but I find Ellie's voice also kind of grating. This can be forgiven here though since its a fun little track. Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out : Come on title? This is nice, however I can't say much about it because I come away from it feeling .. nothing. Taylor Swift - All You Had To Do Was Stay : Well its... a bop. Probably one of the best songs from 1989 and endlessly catchy. I have no opinion on this album but it did what it needed to do and deserved its success. Do I need to revisit it now? Maybe not. Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) : I'm not big on ABBA but I liked it. Brandy - U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To) : You snapped! Mya - Case of the Ex (Whatcha gonna do) : Bop. I liike it enough though I think it kind of fades into the middle here. Rihanna feat. Eminem - Love the Way You Lie (Part II) : I see Eminem I floor it. This was a strange choice... it just doesn't really do much? Almost feels like a bonus track worthy song to me. bestfiction Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Tina Turner - What's Love Got to Do with It It's alright. I feel it could use a switch up closer to the end of the song, it feels a bit stale. Bridgit Mendler - Do You Miss Me At All Her vocals really don't fit this chill instrumental, they cheapen the song and make it feel as a dream pop pastiche to me. Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For A cute generic bop. Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth Cute. She channeled her inner Enya on this one. You'll miss me would've been a better pick though. Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You I don't like her music. This one has aged horribly. En Vogue - My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) A bit repetitive but catchy and fun. I dig Lana Del Rey - ****ed My Way Up To The Top Her pulling the Question for the Culture mess years later suddenly makes sense. um.. yeah I've never been fond of this Arctic Monkeys - why’d you only call me when you’re high I have successfully evaded their reign. This isn't half bad though, I thought their music is more dark and gloomy. Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown Finneas went all out with the production on this one. Love it. Caroline Polachek - So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings Me to my several straight crushes Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You out of My Head THE best song of all time Ellie Goulding - Something In The Way You Move a cute bop! the chorus is very thrilling Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out Artsy fartsy but I liked it to an extent. Taylor Swift - All You Had To Do Was Stay Used to love this one but boy has it aged. I guess I could appreciate how has she matured with folklore/evermore Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) A stunning classic. Madoom sampled the right song from them Brandy - U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To) Not bad at all! Mya - Case of the Ex (Whatcha gonna do) Idk, I'm not really a fan of this Rihanna feat. Eminem - Love the Way You Lie (Part II) Imagine wasting Rihanna on this

I always thought that my mom had bought a deluxe version of the CD, and that’s why we had that song. Especially since it’s also on Skylar Grey’s album. Skin would have been a serviceable final track for Loud; it has a nice outro break into a fade & would have left the album on a very empowering, strong note. Gotta follow the money and capitalize on a hit though, I guess.
Rence Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Tina Turner - What's Love Got to Do with It a classic yuuuup Bridgit Mendler - Do You Miss Me At All I loved her debut album but I’m not really feeling this one... Rihanna - This Is What You Came For this didn’t age well Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth interesting song, interesting choice hmmm idk what I think about this Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You aged a bit but it still bops whew En Vogue - My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) I enjoyed this one Lana Del Rey - ****ed My Way Up To The Top I used to love this, but now I find this lowkey annoying Arctic Monkeys - why’d you only call me when you’re high yes AM yes talent! Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown one of her worst sings yup Caroline Polachek - So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings amazing excellent etc Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You out of My Head this CLASSIC Ellie Goulding - Something In The Way You Move haven’t heard this in a long time, it’s still a bop though oh wow Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out I don’t know what I’m listening to Taylor Swift - All You Had To Do Was Stay it’s cute on its own, but the fact that it is track 5 makes me like it less Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) YUUUUUP Brandy - U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To) kinda amazing whew Mya - Case of the Ex (Whatcha gonna do) Middle of the group for me Rihanna feat. Overprotected Posted January 25, 2021 Author Posted January 25, 2021 Tina Turner - What's Love Got to Do with It - Sounds nice, it’s cute and chill!! background music, I’m gonna agree with what someone else said about it staying in the same note or sumn Bridgit Mendler - Do You Miss Me At All - Teddy Duncan made no points here tbh, sounds like a poorly produced Demi song and that’s saying a lot Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For - Wow this aged Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth - Cute background music, I don’t know what else to say Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You - When the song began I thought it was Sparks Fly by main indie girl Miranda Cosgrove, so you can imagine my disappointment when Kelly started to sing. It’s a classic though a bit too corny En Vogue - My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) - MEGA CLASSIC WHEW. The chorus is so fun and catchy I don’t mind the repetitiveness of it all Lana Del Rey - ****ed My Way Up To The Top - It’s a Lana del Rey song. Arctic Monkeys - why’d you only call me when you’re high - I’ve always avoided their music for some reason but this sounds nice, feeling very straight rn Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown - This album aged like milk to me and this was never one of my favorites to begin with :( Caroline Polachek - So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings - Haven’t heard this classic bop in a minute! Still good :riri: although So Cold You’re Hurting My Feelings outsold Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You out of My Head - This doesn’t sound as timeless as I remember :zachpoor: I mean obviously a classic and I really like the melodies but yeah the production is serving cheap Ellie Goulding - Something In The Way You Move - It’s an Ellie Goulding song. I like the chorus a bit I guess Kelsey Lu, Yves Tumor - let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out - I wanted to like this but it isn’t good sorry :( Taylor Swift - All You Had To Do Was Stay - It’s a cutesy Taylor Swift song Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) - You trying to ride off Hung Up’s VL win I see you. Unfortunately the part Madonna sampled is the only one I care about here Brandy - U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To) - It’s alright but very forgettable... Mya - Case of the Ex (Whatcha gonna do) - Well... Rihanna feat. Eminem - Love the Way You Lie (Part II) - Those verses are terrible...
