I dunno #2 tho. troyes EP is far better than bloom the album if I’m being honest. OMG thank you very much! I'm sure we're gonna have many similarities in ours haha. I'm not sure how much you'd like the Highasakite EP but honestly I adore it so maybe check it out. I def prefer In a Dream and Stud more than MMM now. 19 hours ago, Tom Vercetti said: Haven't checked out many EPs this year as I usually did in previous years. Heard some India Jordan tracks, I think the first two you mentioned actually, and they were solid. There's something about Shygirl that I just cannot really get into *shrug*. Understandable for Shygirl honestly. 17 hours ago, potent said: Yas Christine we stan I didn't realize everyone liked Troye's EP better than Bloom album, In a Dream is one of his best songs for sure tho I actually didn't realize either until these Best Ofs! 16 hours ago, Reinvention said: I haven't actually even checked out In A Dream - it's high time I do. But i didn't say the same with his two previous projects Christine and the gays always serving classic after classic wow Even though people had mix feelings about "Chris" but i enjoy it. I can't wait for La Vita Nuova: Full Album – The Re-Up Honestly I really don't care much for Blue Neighborhood outside of like... Youth lol. I'm still pissed people had mixed feelings on Chris; it's still an incredible album. 12 hours ago, BlackoutZone said: Ahhh perfect #1 Troye reaching new career peaks every "era" we love to see it Troye giving the gays everything they want, not necessarily deserve! 11 hours ago, DoctorIce said: Not an India Jordan reference on ATRL. Ewan Chaos Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 6 minutes ago, Ewan Chaos said: Right, let's get started on the standalone songs! As a reminder, these are all for one-off singles that artists randomly released without any EP or album planned, singles that are part of an EP/album coming out NEXT year, or random songs I wanted to highlight (such as songs from a deluxe edition of an album). Here we go! Top 25 Standalone Songs of 2020 25.) Rosalia - Juro Que (Flamenco Nuevo/Art Pop) She released a lot this year, but flamenco bops from Ms. Rosalia are my favorite... so naturally this was gonna be my favorite of her releases. Are you gonna release a new album or naw girl? 24.) Lykke Li - BRON (Art Pop/Synthpop) Okay... can we all pretend that So Sad So Lykke didn't happen now that we have this/a new album hopefully coming? 23.) Nao, Lianne La Havas - Woman (Neo-Soul/Synth Funk) I was honestly expecting a bit more from Nao and Lianne because I think both are great, but after a few listens this track grew on me and it's a pretty perfect collab between the two. 22.) King Princess - Only Time Makes It Human (Dance-Pop/Funktronica) My favorite rich girl! I was actually quite surprised when I first heard this song because it totally slaps. Pain is a good song too, but if a new album is imminent then I hope it's a bit more in the vein of this track. 21.) Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Crying at the Discotheque (Dance-Pop/Nu-Disco) I was just saying this in another thread that ideally this and the iconic Kitchen Discos she was doing push her away from that crappy Familia album bull**** and back into disco music (kinda like Kylie). 20.) Florence and the Machine - Light of Love (Art Pop/Chamber Pop) I honestly wish this had been on High As Hope, either just slotted in towards the end or replacing something like 100 Years. Something about the ending gets me misty-eyed. 19.) Classixx, Roosevelt - One More Song (Electropop/House) ****ing BOPS babe! I played this jam a lot. They also had a song with Local Natives about a month ago that's quite good. 18.) Cory Wong, Kimbra - Design (Funk/Jazz Fusion) There's another Kimbra collab on this list, but it won't show up on the top 25. I prefer this one because it's more funky and jazzy and fun (and she kinda sounds funny on this). Check it out if you dig Kimbra! 17.) The Knocks, MUNA - Bodies (Dance-Pop/Electropop) This is a tiny bit basic, but I'm honestly happy that The Knocks are kinda coming back to form/their debut days instead of their second album here. And I see MUNA, I hit the play button. 16.) Yebba - Distance (Soul/R&B) This is exactly something I can imagine my queen Emily King slaying, so of course I love this. 15.) felice bauer - Disappear (Ambient Pop/Wonky) I discovered this cute little PC Music bop through a Caroline Polachek story of all things. A bit surprised it hasn't made its rounds a bit more in the hyperpop sphere, but it's good; very Hannah Diamond. 14.) Bat for Lashes - The Boys of Summer (Art Pop/Piano Live) Bat For Lashes was one of the few people I got to see live before lockdown, and she KILLED this cover live so I'm glad there's a version available on Spotify. However, if she had put her This Woman's Work cover up for streaming then that would be my pick instead. It was a cute acoustic concert btw. 13.) Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion - WAP (Trap/Hardcore Hip Hop) Duh this is gonna be on my list... I love me my Cardi B and am starting to really enjoy Megan too so this is a great collaboration. I think their cadence together has possibility to be off a bit but it works really well. Silly ass lyrics too. Just check out the Todd in the Shadows review of this song and that's basically my exact thoughts on this track. Cute next page bump
mokitsu Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 didnt know SEB released i like most of these and LOVE some which i won't mention for now
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 5, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 5, 2020 the problem with one-offs now is that they will be randomly retconned into new eras a lot of these are artists i liked but had no idea they released WAP is obvioulsy good but ill be honest its not making my list. i never loved it, though i appreciated what it did for culture and whatnot. like wtf is wrong with me, how did i not know the classix/roosevelt collab, sophie eb, lykke li, nao, or bfl songs!!! i liked the rosalia song though.
Remmy Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 EPs~ Die 4 Ur Love The title track easily eclipses the rest of the EP but it's still cute. Ok crazy is probably my runner up. In a Dream, Troye delivered as usual But he has been gay excellence since the WILD EP! STUD actually needed a few plays to grow on me. Singles~ King Princess yesss Already a discography highlight. Meanwhile, PAIN is her weakest song yet by far The vocal production (or something related to that) is awful. Bodies goes off off off Ready to see what else is coming also RIP to the alphabetical lists.
Tom Vercetti Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 I liked the rosalia song way earlier in the year but it did grow off me a bit. I prefer her sell-out bops like Con Altura/Aute Cuture. Admittingly a lot of these songs I haven't heard yet but I recognize the artists so perhaps that's my fault for not knowing they're still releasing.
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 5, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 5, 2020 Quote We all have different tastes babes some of us clearly have none crying at the discotheque is kinda cute, idc that much about HAH Florence moderation >
potent Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Totally forgot Florence released this year lol Haven't really been interested in what I've heard from King Princess, but I'll keep checking
elvenOCEAN Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 (edited) King Princess (although I doubt she'll top Ohio anytime soon), The Knocks, Roosevelt and Yebba! Lykke Li and Nao were eh... Tried to like both songs cause I generally really love Lykke Li, and Nao isn't necessarily bad either, but... yeah, no. I will not even comment on no. 13. EDIT: Completely agree with what you sad about Rosalia. Juro Que is what she should do more of! Edited December 5, 2020 by elvenOCEAN
Blue Rose Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 I didn’t know Lykke Li released. Hopefully her next album will have more staying power than ssss
Sunderland 4ever Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 16 hours ago, Ewan Chaos said: 19.) Classixx, Roosevelt - One More Song (Electropop/House) Yes. That track is so good. I should have played it more often but since I was busy with my mid-year list I kind of forgot about it. I recognize Cory Wong too. He released an album early this year. Check out Golden. That's my favorite off his LP.
Rotunda Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Woman and WAP both great choices I'm definitely perched for Nao's next full length project
TheWayWeWere Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 BRON was cute for a minute, but it's nowhere close to INL excellence Crying at the Discotheque is one of her best releases in YEARS, but WHY THE **** SHE RELEASED ANOTHER GREATEST HITS ALBUM it's not even recordings of her Kitchen Disco concerts I'm so pissed at this
Ewan Chaos Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 I'm gonna finish up the standalone songs today and probably take a break tomorrow on updates until Monday. About to see my bf so I'll reply to everyone's Best Ofs tomorrow! Also I think I'll end up expanding my Worst albums to 20 kiiiiiii 12.) Dorian Electra - Guyliner Pt. 2 (Bubblegum Bass/Electropop) Dorian will be appearing on my albums list too, but they won't be on my top 50 lists just FYI. I wanted to highlight this deluxe edition track because it's lowkey better than the original Guyliner. The yeehaw, the Dylan production, so good. 11.) San Holo, BROODS - Honest (Electropop/Future Bass) I'm actually not quite sure why I'm so drawn to this song. It basically has the ingredients and... kinda is a bit of a basic EDM banger. I guess the second chorus dropping the way is does is just interesting enough for me to keep hitting replay. 10.) Jade Bird - Houdini (Indie Pop/Alt Country) I love Jade Bird! Saw her live and she's so good, very cute debut album. I'm happy with this song because it's not just her debut album 2.0. Her other song, Headstart, is also good, but is basically debut album 2.0. 9.) Jayda G - Both of Us (Deep House/Nu-Disco) House excellence. I adored her album last year and I'm really happy she's a Grammy nominated queen with this song! Are U Down is great too/worth the listen. 8.) Roosevelt - Echoes (Synthpop/Electro House) Album next year! It seems like it's gonna be much better than the second album (I still only revisit his debut). This > Feels Right > the other song, but I do like them all! This one just SLAPS the most. 7.) SG Lewis, Robyn, Channel Tres - Impact (Hip House/Dancepop) OHHHHH I'M GONNA! (gonna, gonna, gonna, etc.) 6.) Shinichiro Yokota, Little Boots - Space Station (Deep House/Electro) I really like House music huh. I was really into Shinichiro's album last year but sadly didn't play it as MUCH as I would have liked. Was very pleased to have this collaboration (which Little Boots okay!) pop up on my Spotify a month ago. Space Mix > Earth Mix, but just barely. 5.) Romy - Lifetime (Synthpop/Progressive House) Well hello queen, this kinda slaps! Hoping for an album sooner than later next year. Could you imagine if Oliver popped up and released some music soon and the three of them released solo albums next year? The COLLAPSE. 4.) Erika de Casier - No Butterflies No Nothing (Alternative R&B/UK Bass) Erika is a ****ing talented woman who deserves more. Though, she is on 4AD, so I guess she is already getting recognition. This is as elegant and buttery-smooth as her debut, so I have no choice but to stan. 3.) Foxes - Love Not Loving You (Dance-Pop/Funktronica) Release the album fat! 4 songs from May until now?! WTF! Anyway, this is probably Foxes's best song EVER. ****ing banger. Definitely the best of the released songs, which rank as THIS > Friends in the Corner > Hollywood >>>> (miles later) >>> Woman. I'm an All I Need stan (kinda hate Glorious lmao) btw nnn. 2.) Confidence Man - First Class B*tch (Alternative Dance/Nu-Disco) My favorite sassy bitches are still killing the game. Their debut from 2018 still slaps so hard, so I'm glad that they haven't slowed down making that type of music. For my friends who are Schitt's Creek fans, this is basically an "actually released" version of A Little Bit Alexis nnn. 1.) MARINA - Man's World (Pop/Synthpop) Come on; you knew that I was gonna have Marina on the top of one of my lists it's ME! Though this year, I don't have to lie and pretend I like this song; I ACTUALLY DO! I think that "world issues" Marina (Sex Yeah, Savages) is the best Marina when it's written properly, so I'm happy to have this out there! Looking forward to the next album. About Love... probably would have been payola'd to the top 25 but meh.

Roosevelt) Weekends BOP SUPREME 20 Florence + The Machine Light Of Love Wish this was on High as Hope over something like 100 Years 21 Sophie Ellis-Bextor Crying at the Discotheque Hopefully Sophie's career trajectory goes similarly to Kylie's where she releases some meh and finally goes to decent disco jams 22 King Princess Only Time Makes It Human Pain An unexpected bop! 23 Nao Woman (feat. Orville Peck & Paul Cauthen) This should have been called Country Cocaine Masking 28 Rhye Black Rain I have pretty good expectations for this album next year 29 Calvin Harris Over Now (with The Weeknd) Live Without Your Love (feat. Steve Lacy) The other Love Generator songs This is quite good! Could probably fit on After Hours as a cute deluxe track 30 Father John Misty To S. This is good! I have pretty good hopes for his next record 31 LPX Delayed Gratification My Best I love her and will always support her 32 Basement Jaxx Close Your Eyes I had to put my faves Basement Jaxx on here... still waiting on a new LP 33 BAYNK TESSELLATE (feat. Tei Shi) Tei Shi queen! 34 100 gecs came to my show Most of the remixes The reason this is here is because I don't consider a remix album a new record, but of the new songs on it, this is my favorite 35 Jamie xx Idontknow Are The xx legends gearing up to all release a solo album next year...? 36 Indochine 3SEX (feat. Christine and the Queens) I see a Christine featuring, I FLOOR IT 37 Hermitude Janela (feat. Kimbra) Cute Kimbra track! 38 Ty Dolla $ign Ego Death (feat. elvenOCEAN Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Man's World was a huge surprise for me. I am more of a casual listener of Marina, but I haven't loved a song by her this much since her collaboration with Clean Bandit, Disconnect. Also pleased to see Both of Us on this list. Impact was somewhat of a letdown.

BUT i did like a lot of my agenda so they make up for it top 3 is really good. mans world is better than all of love+fear (tbh, never heard it all, just assuming) and the foxes song is amazing, one of her best even if its a haim ripoff.
