US iTunes: Dynamite Selling 576% More Than Next Song

What about letting alternate / acoustic / instrumental versions of a song count for streams and sales, but only after a few weeks of release? I hate the "bundle and rush to #1" tactic.

Even I didn’t think it would be this high

Personally I’ve only bought one version

Lemme buy the other 3 :gaycat1:

I think this is like a TROLLZ situation. The fandom is very happy and get the achievements they want,

a bragging right for the rest of their life.

But the general impression (non-fans) about their artist and fans, the bad-taste in the GP mouth is gonna

stay for long, not to mention it barely makes a dent in the West and hardly considered as a hit.

But the fandom power is undeniable large and loyal, so congrats.

Not 4 versions of the same song and they are all discounted. :deadbanana::dies:

They REALLY WANT that #1.

The desperation for a #1. :dies:

BB really needs to do something with all these shenanigans for a quick #1. :dies:

What's the reason for the fumes? All the popgirls did something like this to get a #1 this year.

This is actually disgusting. Billboard needs to get on their ass QUICKLY because this will undermine if the Hot 100 actually measures if a song is a legitimate hit.

this has happened the whole year too

most of the 1# debuts today, dont have more than 2 weeks in the top 10 :deadbanana2:

Billboard is definitely going to change rules if everyone follows suit. I think they will allow only one version of a single to count for sales.

But I'm here for BTS snatching a #1 :eli:

Agreed. I'm all for artists wanting #1s but when it's desperate like this with a song that isn't going to have any impact... it just becomes a chart position and not a hit that anyone is going to remember in 10 months time let alone 10 years

Not some of ya’ll thinking all these #1s in one charting year is new. Look at the #1 hits from the late 80s-early 90s before SoundScan was invented.

There were 26 different #1s in 1990

There were 27 different #1s in 1991

There were 33 different #1s in 1989 :hoetenks:

They were finding loopholes then, and they still are now

I think it was harder for a song to chart, back then tho :deadbanana:

while every artist with a strong streaming and weak physicals, can chart now

All that and by two weeks (or even before that) those versions will be outside top 500 and the main song leaving top 100 :toofunny2:

As of hot 100, it'll be lucky to chart for 5 weeks.

Ain't nobody checking this outside their obsessive stans and a few pop culture entusiasts.

Billboard needs to change their formula to dictate what's an actual #1 hit or not.
