This is a heavy metal song about a man's struggles with the angry sea, I feel that heavy metal music is the most fitting for a violent, angry god and that the angry sea is the best representation of Poseidon. The poignant track also genuinely breathes life to Hera's other powers, values and virtues that she also protects as it tells a story of a woman fully realizing her femininity as she embarks on a new journey in life which is marriage while also bearing a child at the same time leading to a new happy family. Explanation: Because Hermes was known as the "messenger" of the Gods, it was important to send a song specifically themed around sending messages. Hermes was also god of the roads, often depicted as traveling long distances in the sky to send his messages, which is why I also chose this song; the narrator is implied to be away from his love: "A thousand miles are gone when [the message] comes through/And ride it down to anywhere you are". On 7/18/2020 at 7:17 PM, dussymob said: APOLLO By: Dussymob Ever Again/Robyn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfK88LsB0fg Why this song works: The song fits because Apollo was known for his relationships. This song exhibit how much of a romantic Apollo was, and at the same time could have a double meaning of not falling into the trap of a lover again as most of his relationships ended quite rough. On 7/18/2020 at 7:47 PM, Bey_Rihstan said: Aphrodite By: Bey_Rihstan Bananarama - Venus This was the first song to spring to mind as it's literally tailored to Aphrodite (Venus) and how she was able to use her assets, aura, femininity, intensity, beauty and sexuality to get men to cower at her will for whatever it is that she wanted. Aphrodite knew she was that Bitch and the song perfectly depicts her sexual prowess. On 7/18/2020 at 7:56 PM, Tom Vercetti said: 1. Demeter 2. By: Tom Vercetti 3. Raffi - Garden Song 4. 5. 6. This song was chosen because the farmer can be analyzed as a disciple of Mother Earth (Demeter) and along with the farming tools and techniques that the farmer has learned from her, he also relies on her deity powers to allow the crops on his land to flourish and to be protected under seasonal conditions. Garden Song captures the natural experience of a farmer at work as well as addressing the principles of harvesting, fertility and agriculture.
rl231 Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 Staryu - Poseidon Clue God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 4/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - I couldn’t have asked for more. He’s the god of the sea. Score - 10/10 Dylan God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 3.5/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - This is really strong because your song fits both lyrically and sonically. Very good song choice and your justification is simple but to the point (probably because the song is strong by itself). Score - 9.5/10 Supaspaz God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 4/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - It was smart to find a song that is not only about the tempestuous and vengeful sea, but sounds like it, too. Score - 10/10 Yvess - Hera Clue God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 3.5/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - The only thing I wish we had is a little bit of …scorn? when it comes to your song selection. Hera’s marriage was unhappy, so I wish we saw a little of that anger/frustration. Score - 9.5/10 Dylan God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 2/4 Explanation - 1.5/3 Comment - The formatting is so old school ATRL. Love it. However, I don’t love the song choice much. The synopsis details that her marriage to Zeus was a rough one so this song is a little too light and fluffy for what she symbolizes beyond motherhood. Score - 6.5/10 Supaspaz God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 1.5/4 Explanation - 1.5/3 Comment - This is an odd fit for Hera. Unfortunately, I think you missed the reality of her experience beyond what she symbolizes. Her marriage to Zeus is not the dreamy romance of this song. Score - 6/10 Buddy! - Athena Clue God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 3/4 Explanation - 2.5/3 Comment - The song felt a little surface-level and a bit too general for me. It wasn’t the worst possible choice to go along with your explanation, but I wish her wisdom was highlighted more with the song choice. Score - 8.5/10 Dylan God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image -1/1 Song Judgment - 3/4 Explanation - 2.5/3 Comment - Lol you are so funny. This certainly works to some extent, but I wish the song was a little more about wisdom and knowledge than a general helping hand. Score - 8.5/10 Supaspaz God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 2/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - You certainly made your case, but ultimately, Athena’s defining characteristic is her wisdom. Score - 8/10 Kipperskipper - Zeus Clue God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 2.5/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - Feels like a total copout to use a song that was made for/about the god/goddess with their name in the lyrics and everything. Of course it’s the perfect song, but it just felt lazy to me. Score - 8.5/10 Dylan God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image -1/1 Song Judgment - 2.5/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - I just don’t really vibe with the idea of choosing a song with your god in the title. It’s a fit but not in a very riveting way. Score - 8.5/10 Supaspaz God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 3/4 Explanation - 2.5/3 Comment - I feel like you actually just picked this song because Zeus’ name is in the title, so I can’t give you too much credit. But obviously, it works. Score - 8.5/10 Kiiwii - Hephaestus Clue God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 3/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - This is bordering lazy for me since it’s written for/about the god, but at least the lyrics were very detailed. Score - 9/10 Dylan God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image -1/1 Song Judgment - 3/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - The lyrics are nice on this one and you do a great job explaining yourself. The song itself is just not that intriguing given it’s written with this god in mind. Score - 9/10 Supaspaz God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 2.5/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - Not a particular creative selection, and the mentions of elves and runes suggest this would be a better fit for a Norse god than a Greek Olympian. Score - 8.5/10 EriKills - Hermes Clue God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 4/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - This was great. This is clever without being a reach. Score - 10/10 Supaspaz God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 4/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - I like how you tried to find a song with several layers to it. rl231 Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 Lucky#17 - Ares Clue God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 2.5/4 Explanation - 2/3 Comment - The song needed to be more about destruction for me. And the explanation was barely there to help with the song choice, I wish you’d convinced me a bit more. Score - 7.5/10 Dylan God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 1.5/4 Explanation - 1/3 Comment - Yeah, I think this song choice is pretty weak considering the material and the explanation doesn’t do you any favors. If the song’s strong enough, you don’t need to do much explaining. But, that isn’t the case here. Score - 5.5/10 Supaspaz God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 1/4 Explanation - 0.5/3 Comment - You picked a relationship song for...Ares. This is a god who is basically driven by bloodlust, so your explanation makes very little sense. Did you listen to it beyond the title? The lack of effort really jumped out. Score - 4.5/10 dussymob - Apollo Clue God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 4/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - “Ever Again” is such a good song, let me just start by saying that. I love the narrative that you created with this song/your explanation. He’s had tumultuous relationships, but he wants this particular one to work out, in a sense. Score - 10/10 Dylan God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 3/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - One of the best explanations this round. The song fits well though I do question if there’s better options. Overall strong entry for this round. Score - 9/10 Supaspaz God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 2.5/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - I enjoyed your explanation. You thought through the theme in a creative way. But I was surprised not to see a song with a connection to the sun, which is what Apollo is most known for. Score - 8.5/10 Gateau - Artemis Clue God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 4/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - Yup yup yup. Score - 10/10 Dylan God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 2/4 Explanation - 2/3 Comment - I quite like the vibe of your song being so bubblegum given the darker nature of most of these songs. But, i think the bow/arrow and love metaphor doesn’t do you many favors given the chastity element Artemis has going on. It sort of contradicts itself there. Score - 7/10 Supaspaz God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 1/4 Explanation - 1/3 Comment - Yikes at the misplaced confidence. This song might have worked if your god was Eros, but Artemis is literally the goddess of chastity. She was using her bow and arrow to hunt deer, not love. Score - 5/10 Bey_Rihstan - Aphrodite Clue God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 3.5/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - Chile.. I knew I’d get either Gaga’s Venus or Bananarama’s Venus. Of course this works but, again, I personally would not send a song written for/about the god/goddess. It feels too easy. Score - 9.5/10 Dylan God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 3.5/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - This is the best of the “didn’t think for more than two seconds” entries this round. Loved the blurb. Score - 9.5/10 Supaspaz God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 3/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - I can’t help but be disappointed. There is so much you could have done with Aphrodite, who represents the most common theme in all of music, and yet you took the easy way out. Score - 9/10 Tom Vercetti - Demeter Clue God Name/Image/Title/Link - 2/2 Image - 1/1 Song Judgment - 4/4 Explanation - 3/3 Comment - The song sent me, but this is probably the best song/explanation combo for me.
