rl231 Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 5) Final 11: Boys’ blindside - really chaotic social dynamics and flipping The fallout from the first merge tribal was absolutely nuts. Boys, being Boys, discussed the fallout on Boys’ Broadcast Network and did an entire unpacking of the tribal, giving props to Not Like the Movies and saying that he was doing what he heard the majority was doing. AND THEN, he exposed EriKills and Anthem as playing both sides, and they figured out who said to get rid of Miguel: Anthem. However, Anthem peaced tf out of the game and out of the jury, leaving us at 11 people. This led to a 6-5 split in alliances, making things very dicey. With Touch It and Clueless securing immunity, everyone else was vulnerable for the next tribal. Gateau had been working on dussymob for the past round or so and really wanted him to flip over to their side. On top of this, he also planned on playing his idol on himself and making everyone in that other alliance vote for him, which ended up happening. Additionally, many different names were thrown around from Gateau, Boys, Not Like the Movies, EriKills, and Alena. Dussy heard that Boys said his name at some point, so he wanted him OUT. Dussy was communicating with his alliance over chat, but they thought it was all a little too much and kinda just ignored him (IMO). Gateau jumped on this and got his alliance to vote for Boys, and with Gateau playing his idol, Alena playing her idol, both on themselves, and NLTM playing his double vote, Boys was out in a vote of 7-0.

rl231 Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 4) Final 5: dussymob throws his vote on Alena to save himself from idols Over the years, we have heard about “big moves” on Survivor. These often take a lot of attention away from the more subtle dynamics of the game that actually lead someone to victory. Sometimes playing smart is much better than playing loud. At the final five vote, that’s exactly what dussymob did. Perpetual target Gateau was finally vulnerable after a few immune rounds, so the other four planned to finally get rid of him. Gateau had a hidden immunity idol at his disposal, however, and was secretly plotting to take out Touch It with his single vote. To add another layer to the mix, Touch It had just recently found the Saturn idol using a few clues from the season… since it was the final round to use the idol, Touch It was also safe. With Clueless immune due to the challenge, the only valid options to leave the game were Alena and dussymob. Everyone was focused on Gateau and Touch It, but dussymob decided to focus on himself and secure his safety in such a pivotal moment in the game. He had a hunch that idols would be played, so he decided to throw his vote onto Alena as a safety net. That small move was absolutely huge for him, as his vote was the only one that counted, sending Alena out in fifth place. This saved him from a potential blindside… for example, if someone had thrown their vote onto dussymob, his move would have at least tied things up and saved him on a revote. A brilliant, strategic move that shouldn’t be overlooked!!

rl231 Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 3) Round 2: APA idoled out - a 1-0 vote is always iconic OG Galatea was such a hot mess of a tribe in the beginning. It was filled with pretty fiery, interesting personalities, and after the first tribal they had with the tiebreaker between Gateau and Psycho, it was an all out war - primarily between Boys and Gateau. Boys wanted “Ghetto” as he referred to him and didn’t understand why he didn’t go in the tribal. Coupled with the fact that Boys and Gateau are two people that will never stop arguing with each other, it was disastrous. Gateau won the tiebreaker against Psycho, and the war raged on. Words were exchanged in the thread, Boys’ Broadcast Network was blazing, and people were heated. The split in the tribe was between A Public Affair, Gateau, and bowdown vs. Boys and moonlightbae. Boys, because of his loud mouth, was on the chopping block, and Gateau made it KNOWN. However, in a fascinating turn of events, random.org literally saved Boys by sending him to Planet of the Idols. The challenge was simple: make them talk and have 10 people quote you...and Boys succeeded, guaranteeing himself a limited-use idol. Galatea ends up losing the challenge because A Public Affair tanked the team’s average with Rihanna’s Unfaithful in a round about healing, and moonlightbae flips to the other side to save himself. Boys was SUPPOSED to go in a vote of 4-1, but with that idol, it was A Public Affair getting booted at a vote of 1-0. Hilariously, A Public Affair said that we gave Boys an idol, but little did he know, it was all part of a greater twist.

rl231 Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 2) Final 13: Not Like the Movies idols out Disruptive I’m sure you’re all expecting this tribal, and let me tell you, it was a tough decision to make to put this at number TWO instead of number one!! When you host a Survivor game, you can throw out as many idols as you want but more often than not, players will waste them. They might panic (like Alena) and play them too early… or get over-confident (like moonlightbae) and leave with them in their pocket. But when the stars align, they can create some pretty iconic moments. When the 13 of you merged, it was pretty crazy trying to follow along with the chaos! There were a lot of different connections at play, which ultimately pulled Boys/Alena/Anthem over to the Telestos. All of a sudden an 8-5 majority on one side became an 8-5 majority for the other side! The plan was perfect… dussymob would play a vote nullifier just to help keep things calm in case someone could not be trusted. Throughout the day, however, Not Like the Movies picked up on less people talking to him and felt like something was up. Putting the pieces together, as the highest challenge scorer, he realized that he could very well be a target. He played his Uranus idol, and the rest is history. 8 votes were nullified, which very well might be an ATRL Survivor record? I think the real show’s record is 9 votes nullified at one tribal. Anyways, this was a pretty explosive start to the merge, sending Disruptive to the jury.
rl231 Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 1) Round 1 - Gateau: From First Boot Fodder to Fiery Finalist The first vote is typically the most boring, honestly. Like it’s the person with the worst average, they’ll go unanimously. Pretty standard...or so you’d think. Insert OG Galatea. Perhaps THE single messiest tribe in the history of ATRL Survivor. We have Psycho, Boys, Gateau, A Public Affair, Moonlightbae, and Bowdown. After their abysmal performance in the challenge, Psycho put in the Galatea PM chat that Gateau should be the target because of his extremely low score in the challenge, a 2.5. Gateau immediately responded: Quote “Are you really going to use a challenge score in a game like this against me? Lmao? Especially when we're in a game where we can just send each other the songs before we can send it to the panelists, therefore ensuring my future scores will be perfectly fine and reviewed by the rest of the tribe? Not only that, but I'm going to end up being a much lesser threat down the line when our scores are based individually and not group-based Yeah I ****ed up, but I can't see how its anything but a good thing Explain to me, @Psycho” Gateau immediately got to work on his social and strategic and managed to get both bowdown and A Public Affair on his side, thus causing a 3-3 vote. During the tiebreaker challenge, Gateau snatched a perfect 10 song within 5 seconds, thus securing his safety. Boys was infuriated by this turn of events, sparking the incredible inferno of Gateau vs. Boys that has lasted for literal months. This season of Survivor got off to an entertaining BANG and this vote was incredibly important to the narrative. Who knew that this ridiculous, insane journey of this season’s central character, Gateau, almost did not happen because he submitted a horrible song about anal sex in round one?? No clue how this season would have gone if Psycho survives here over Gateau, but all we know is that Gateau established himself as a fighter from day one who did not mince words. He ended up growing tenfold in challenges and was never afraid to speak his mind. You may not like him. In fact, we know you do not like him. But there’s no denying the impact (sometimes blunt force trauma impact) that he left on the game. One of the most controversial characters in ATRL Survivor history, our runner-up Gateau will never be forgotten.
