Why does ATRL keep doing this? Lol.  Rap wasn’t as mainstream as it is now (hence why Cardi’s rap songs are charting higher and have stronger numbers than Nicki’s rap songs).  Nicki literally ended a drought for female rap.  There is NO comparison.  Cardi debuted in a total different climate (streaming, new certifications, Trap running mainstream radio, etc).

they brag about female rapper this female rapper that but said female rapper has 90% pop songs on her catalog. Idk its just laughable. Nickis last album is her only truly hip hop album and no one really gave a ****, which comes to show that the urban community has never been truly interested in her solo material aside those tired ass Drake/Lil Wayne collabos

Firstly, Nicki’s albums were simply reflective of the music landscape at the time.  Best believe if Pop was running radio now, Cardi would have Pop infused music too (or she would at least ATTEMPT to :rip:).  She riding the trends just like everybody else...she just came in at a good time.  She’s not doing anything groundbreaking (musically).

Secondly, This is Nicki’s 8/9th year in the game.  That fact she’s charting this well after such a long stint is a success in itself.  Especially since she didn’t have much radio support this time around.

She ALSO released singles that were against the grain sound-wise (“Barbie Tingz”, “Chun Li”, “Bed”), so that didn’t do her any favors leading into album launch.  The Urban community supported “Rake It Up” and “Motorsport”...both of which she was the highlight of the track.  So just because Queen’s singles “underperformed”, doesn’t mean the Urban community doesn’t support her.

It'll be interesting to see how the next era for both Cardi and Nicki will play out.  I think people made a lot of assumptions solely based on what’s happening in one moment in time...instead of looking at the bigger picture.  All other female rappers have had at least one “flop” era...including Lil Kim, Missy Elliot...etc.. at some point in their career.  Keep in mind this is the FIRST time Nicki has “underperformed” (which wasn’t even that much of an underperformance) in a 8/9 year time frame. Let that sink in.

First of all Nicki is a former pop star. Her first two albums were pure pop. 90% of all her stats as female rapper comes from her pop singles and pop collabos. Thats why its so comical seeing Nicki stans talking about hip hop lmfao. Yall used to stan Lady Gaga. :rip:

Now if we focus on her rap hits, Nickis success is very, very mediocre. Money is more successful than any rap song ever released by Nicki. Now thats sad huh.

And Ive been stanning cardi since before you even knew who she was.
