I like that you used a clip that shows Taylor as a powerful touring artist. My only concern though is since it is a trailer, it gives me a half-empty,half full experience in getting to know your artist. Speezy: KatyCatPH - Taylor Swift - 6 Another clever entry. Definitely showed us she is a performer... Unlike Selena's this one lack her live vocals. Sabbath: KatyCatPH - Taylor Swift - 7: and before you hate on me, lemme tell you WHY: while I believe the trailer looks incredibly cool and definitely showcases how powerful she is for being able to tour stadiums, this isn’t really the best representation of Taylor as a whole, especially since Rep was an era and a persona that is so different to the rest of her career. This doesn’t showcase her songwriting, her stage presence, her voice, except maybe her talent as a business woman for getting a Netflix special. Remmy: Element: KatyCatPH - 3: An interesting and possibly risky choice for this round. Taylor is actually my fave (w/ Gaga) but I feel like this trailer is mainly just focused on the incredible production of the show. All I hear from Taylor is a little talking + the studio version of ...RFI?. While this is a great snippet of her tour, it doesn't tell me much about her. Guero - Ariana Grande Ariana Grande - Imagine (LIVE) Spoiler Yvess: Guero - Ariana Grande - 9: This performance really showed us her vocal range! The only thing that didn't made me feel to not give it a perfect 10 is that she looks shy at some parts, she's killing it so I wanted to see a more confident Ariana. Guero - Ariana Grande - 7.5 The vocals and calmness is everything in this performance, but where is the movement. But we need Ariana to walk away from the center and walk the stage a bit. Sabbath: Guero - Ariana Grande - 8.5: I think you chose a really great entry and that it fits the purpose of the round very well. Everything from the outfit, to the lyrics of the song, to obviously her gorgeous voice screams Ariana and truly encapsulates her whole artistry. However, with that comes the negatives like her tendency to not fully use the stage she’s on and closing her eyes too much instead of using them as well as her body to fully emote the song. I’m fake fan and never watched this performance before (i think?) and didn’t think she would do the whistle tones, so the moment she actually did them, punched your score a little higher. Great entry! Remmy: Guero - 9.5: I've actually never seen this before but damn, this performance is pretty much vocally flawless And obviously vocals are her biggest strength, so it's a great idea to put focus on that. It also lets us know that she's one of the few that can pull off whistle notes live. PoKiTaurus - Mariah Carey Mariah Carey - Emotions (From Mariah Carey (Live)) Spoiler Yvess: PoKiTaurus - Mariah Carey - 10: SLAY! You had a rough first choice but your final choice for this round is totally one of the best! The way Mariah sings it effortlessly and her audience being so engaged with her presence is something that not every girls can have. The whistles made me forget Ariana's performance. PoKiTaurus - Mariah Carey - 10 Lemme say crowd interaction is such a plus in performances. It lets the crowd know you arent just $100. She seem so energetic on stage too. The vocals are on point Sabbath: Pokitaurus - Mariah Carey - 10 : ahhhhhhh yes, the second I read “Emotions” in the title I got excited irl. I wasn’t even half into the performance and I knew it was a 10. The charisma in the first SECONDS, the interaction with the public, the energy, the presence, the EMOTIONS™, the VOICE!!!!!! A perfect example of Mariah doing everything RIGHT. Remmy: PoKiTaurus - 9: Her ability to sing and make the crowd go wild is so effortless... Go off! kiiwii- Katy Perry Katy Perry- California Gurls (Super Bowl 2015) Spoiler Yvess: kiiwii - Katy Perry - 9.5: This is absolutely a smart choice. Katy is not the vocal powerhouse legend like Mimi or Adele but what she has is the TOTAL STAGE PRESENCE. Her command on stage in this performance is phenomenal, she gave it her 100% and the fans loved it. Speezy: kiiwii - Katy Perry -10 This is everything tbh. The performance was silly and reflected Katy's fun personality alot. She served vocals and cute dance moves. Sabbath: kiiwii - Katy Perry - 9: I think you chose something great. Katy is known for being colourful and playful and fun and energetic and the entire performance showcases that plus the way she handles both a ‘slower’ song and a more upbeat one. Remmy: kiiwii - 6.5: The first part of the performance (Teenage Dream) isn't the strongest. Her vocals aren't the best there, and the costumed characters are a bit silly. Then the next part (California Gurls) gets a significant energy boost and she shows some improvement. Overall, this is not bad, but Katy also needed a little help from some heavy production. thecptz - Kacey Musgraves Kacey Musgraves - High Horse - Live at Coachella 2019 Spoiler Yvess: thecptz - Kacey Musgraves - 7.5: I love High Horse and I love Kacey's beauty. I pointed out her beauty because in this performance, I can't stop but appreciate how beautiful this yeehaw queen is. My only problem in this performance is that I don't see her fully enjoying the moment. IDK maybe it's just me but the moment the granny steps in, she stole the spotlight. Speezy: thecptz - Kacey Musgraves 7.5 The vocals were solid. The performance and the grandma was great and made things more lively Sabbath: thecptz - Kacey Musgraves: 7.5: I believe every ATRLer knows and loves this song, and I’m one of them and for good reason, it’s such a good song. However, I don’t believe High Horse represents Kacey as a whole as her discography is so different from it, and I recall Kacey herself saying something along the lines of that she was okay with HH not becoming a hit since people would listen to her music and expect more of it only to find out very different songs. I like that she let a bit of her fun personality show when she pulled out baddie winkle, an unexpected kii for everyone. Remmy: thecptz - 6:This is alright. I don't feel like there's anything super eventful in this, I kinda expected more with one of her most upbeat (and well known) tracks. Solarie - Avril Lavigne Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend (LIVE) Spoiler Yvess: Solarie - Avril Lavigne - 8: Avril is my fave and I know she is not the pop goddess when she performs so I give you points for sending an actual video of her enjoying Girlfriend live. What I just noticed is that she's not 100% giving her all in this performance, there are parts wherein she's a 10, sometimes a 7. Nonetheless, you saved Avril from getting a score of 5 for this challenge with your choice. Speezy: Solarie - Avril Lavigne - 7.5 Her energy was come and go for this performance. I dont expect her to break into full choreo or anything but she could've smashed a guitar or something. The vocals was pretty good Sabbath: Solarie - Avril Lavigne: 5.5: I like that you picked this song ‘cause it really was the goodbye to her more tomboyish looks from her previous eras and the beginning of her girlier but still ‘edgy’ persona. We know she’s not a big vocalist or dancer, so I wish at least her outfit helped her a little bit more ‘cause it’s giving me karaoke at the bar and not the TABS fantasy. Remmy: Solarie - 6.5: Her voice was better than expected in this one but I wish she had some more energy, the song is so fun but her movements aren't the best match. I like that she did the little bit of choreography for the bridge though. Overprotected - Björk Björk - Human Behaviour(Live at Royal Opera House) Spoiler Yvess: Overprotected - Björk - 7: I think this is a decent choice for an edgy artist like Bjork. She is a good storyteller in this performance, it is engaging to her audience so it is a great thing to notice. I wouldn't see myself watching this video again coz I'd rather listen to her than watch her. Don't hate me boo. Speezy: Overprotected - Björk - 9 I'm unfamiliar with Bjork's style but the songs goes off. I do love her stage presence and it seams like shes trying to paint a picture of the song in the audiences mind. Sabbath: Overprotected - Björk - 9: unapologetically Björk, this exactly what I’d exp ect from her performances, songs, hell even the production of the set. So interesting and unique, loves it. Remmy: Overprotected - 5: While I can respect how unique she is, it's just not something that particularly interests me. Her voice constantly changing isn't kind to my ears and everything else doesn't captivate me enough to give a higher score. EriKills - Tinashe Tinashe - All Hands on Deck (Live at CONAN) Spoiler Yvess: EriKills - Tinashe - 9: She looks so promising in this video. Gives me a Britney+Beyonce baby we did not deserve. Her dancing is more highlighted in this video than her vocalr range and that's a great thing. If I don't know her, I will think that she can become a Beyonce heir to the throne. Speezy: EriKills – Tinashe - 9.5 This that song from Aquarius. What is so neat is that she OWNED the stage and the stage. She gave energy, a routine and vocals and didnt give anyone in the crowd a chance to fall asleep. I stan Sabbath: EriKills - Tinashe - 7.5: I think Tinashe’s strongest talent is her dancing, so while I enjoy the dancing in here, I wish you went a little bit more into it, like with the Company MV, for example, since in this particular performance, the bits in which she does sing don’t add much to it overall. Remmy: EriKills - 10: This is a PERFORMANCE. What else can I say??? Truly TEAM SABBATH, UP NEXT!
