No, that would be Adele. Swift is one of the biggest though.

 

As for OTR, it DOES NOT debut at #1 on the Hot Country Songs Chart.  However, OTR fell off of BB's 60 position Country Airplay Chart too. I would've thought that adding Cyrus would've helped, but, not yet.  Maybe of Cyrus had equal billing the song would've started getting more airplay. Because, had OTR not fallen off of the CAC, it would probably be #1 on HCS. It sucks that OTR couldn't get at least 130k, as that would've been bigger than any other songs in 2018.

Honestly OTR shouldn’t get a video at this point. It will ruin its chart run I feel like. Didn’t that happen to Closer? 

It will kind of ruin the novelty of the song. 

I wouldn’t be surprised if OTR still has 100 million next week streams but it’s gonna be close.

Tequila had a boost after having a big night at the ACM awards. Meant To Be actually fell off of the HCS Chart after 70+ weeks on the chart, and all within the Top 5,  obviously a record. It's 2 am , and I have to get up before 7 am. So I'm signing off for the night.

just after I make a statement yesterday how the charts thread has gone back to normal with the current top 10 on hot 100 and billboard 200 now we have a Gaga vs Taylor thing going on yet when it was time to go against katy hmm...

 

anyways, I do believe Taylor is the biggest pop girl overall but Adele obviously craps on her sales wise but when you factor hits touring (only because Adele is. A real singer that sings live for real and doesn’t have the stamina) Taylor edges her out.

 

on the other hand, I feel a Taylor lead vs Adele lead will have Adele outselling.

 

that said, this era should be interesting for her and I hope Taylor takes advantage of the impact of visuals released with the songs debut.

 

taylor might as well snag a few #1s if her album sales might take a hit

IMO it's becoming a hit in the same way Gangnam Style was, more of a novelty hit than anything. I guess people are just interested that the song blends Hip-Hop/Rap, although it's been done before so who knows.

Youre delusional if you think going from 1989 to whatever her last album was is the definition of maintaining or increasing popularity. The video for OTR isnt even released officially yet and the airplay is increasing. You had a 1000point #1 from a newer artist. Taylors last three singles underperformed Taylors standards. There is no other way to put it.

 

Im not saying she wont get #1. Im just saying we should not automatically assume it is a given.
