Tempo Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Love most of these songs Hann and One Kiss are bops! I did not know en vogue had released this year, i discovered them recently. I gotta check their last release. I love No Tears, such a timeless song Bad Boy is one of my fave songs of the year.
JonginBey Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Come through, graphics. It is so rare to see appreciation for GOT7’s Look. Everyone told ha to sit in the corner when Lullaby came around, and I just couldn’t take the disrespect. Thank you. Bad Boy, NTLTC, Apeshit

M A R C Posted December 27, 2018 Author Posted December 27, 2018 GOT7 // Lullaby After the masterpiece that was Look, GOT7 came back again with another quality fast paced bop. The chorus is one of the best from a boy group this year. The beat is addictive and the vocals are very colorful. The Internet // Come Over The Internet has yet to release a bad song. Their music never fails to amaze me. Just like the rest of their discography, Come Over exudes quality and relaxation. The perfect song to take a night drive on. Plus i couldn't leave this one out based on the fact that Syd's crop top + Steve embracing his bisexuality in the mv >>> Nicki Minaj // Chun-Li As i stated about Barbie Tingz, Chun-Li also obtains that PF/RR vibe. Literally a 1-2 PUNCH. The beat is addictive, her flow is sleek, and the chorus is catchy. Even when the song takes a turn to her whisper singing the addictive saxophone beat still keeps the flow. WJSN // Dreams Come True The intro to this makes me feel like i'm in a Sailor Moon episode. From beginning to end the song is amazing, not a single boring moment. The vocals are soft and not too grating like their past efforts and it fits the mood of the excellent instrumental. Taeyeon // Something New *Inserts maybe it was too ahead of it's time gif* The combination of the ongoing bass carrying the song and Taeyeon's sultry vocals gives off an expensive ballroom feel that i couldn't turn away from. Usually Taeyeon's vocals overpower her instrumentals but with Something New she sung with a soft and light raspy tone that i really enjoyed.
M A R C Posted December 27, 2018 Author Posted December 27, 2018 Suho X Jang Jae // Dinner Most of the time when i hear K-R&B songs i always imagine an english R&B singer doing it and it becoming a hit, this is one of those times. The song definitely has a H.E.R./Bryson Tiller vibe. With Jang Jae's pleasing tone and Suho's soft tone makes this collab a perfect duo. Based on the fact that it's a project song i'm very impressed with the outcome. IU // BBIBBI The bridge alone in this song is proof why IU is the biggest female artist in Korea. The instrumental switch up and the harmonies of her vocals automatically made this song one of the best this year. And even though it wasn't that prominent i still heard that bass guitar and i loved it. Tamia // Leave It Smokin' Heard this song on the radio this past summer and i've been blasting it ever since then. The pre-chorus is the best part of the song and the instrumental gives off a feel good vibe. Mariah Carey // GTFO The passive aggressiveness of it all never fails to make me scream fff. At first i thought the song would be tacky but skinny legend made me shut my ***** mouth. The lyrics are harsh but her delivery is so calm and warm which makes the song so interesting to me. PRISTIN V // Get It This song screams Red Velvet from top to bottom, from the way how the verses are structured to the vocal delivery of the chorus. This lowkey what i was expecting RBB to be sound wise, SM should've snatched the demo. But immediately on first listen this was easily one of the best K-Pop songs of the year.
M A R C Posted December 27, 2018 Author Posted December 27, 2018 DAY6 // days gone by DAY6 never fails to reinvent themselves, and for a rock band it's actually impressive how many sounds and concepts they've pulled off. Usually most rock bands would give you the same setup and same exact sound all the time but DAY6 put a twist to things. This time they took on an 80s retro sound and it came out perfectly. DIA // WooWoo Don't really use DIA that much but they delivered with this song. They plagiarized Miss Tinashe's Superlove and did it better. DEAN // instagram I actually need DEAN to pick up traction in the US because instagram is not only the best K-R&B song, but one of the best overall R&B songs this year. The instrumental switch up is genius and it keeps you on your toes. The beat kicking back in after thinking DEAN is finished with the song is a highlight. Gallant // Doesn't Matter Legit thought Gallant was Usher based on first listen. But then i realized Usher doesn't have another quality song left in his body. The chorus is euphoric and very catchy, the song should've been bigger then what it is because it has all of the elements of a major it. CLC // Black Dress CLC really deserved more for this song. If Blackpink released Black Dress it would've been a huge hit. The song is a bop throughout and the line in the chorus, "I'm in the black dress!" is a moment.
M A R C Posted December 27, 2018 Author Posted December 27, 2018 BoA // One Shot, Two Shot Others might shrivel up and lose interest in delivering quality so late into their careers, but not BoA. She makes sure to deliver time and time again. One Shot, Two Shot has a light upbeat feel with the production being lowkey similar to f(x)'s 4 Walls and SHINee's View. Which automatically makes it an 11/10. H.E.R. ft. Bryson Tiller // Could've Been My dream collab came true and it was everything i was expecting them to deliver. H.E.R.'s vocal delivery was velvet perfection as usual and Bryson's tone complimented her tone so well. And the robotic vocals throughout parts of the song gives off a futuristic vibe. R&B and futuristic concepts are always an A+ for me. EXO CBX // Blooming Day Everything EXO touches turns to gold wherever they go. EXO CBX, the sub-unit of EXO, delivered another quality song with a funky vibe and exquisite vocals. I really loved the production and the "can i be your boyfriend" line, which would've been cheesy if another group sung it, but it worked so well in the song. BLACKPINK // DDU-DU DDU-DU You know what this might've not been their all time best effort but it still knocks. The heavy bass during the chorus and Jennie's rap are definitely the highlights. Also the instrumental switching up into an almost middle eastern sound is a moment i definitely enjoyed. Baekhyun X Loco // Young SM Station knew exactly what i liked when they were delivering all the K-R&B singles this year. Another one of those moments when i imagine it being a huge R&B hit in the states. The song oozes perfection from beginning to end and fails to have any boring moments. And i really loved Baekhyun's vocals in this, he really can sing just about any genre of music at this point.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 27, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 27, 2018 Had no idea Taeyeon released this year... Black Dress and GTFO are great. I wish I enjoyed the IU song as much as others seemed to... she'll never top Jam Jam
RockStarShit101 Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Sorry for not knowing all of these K-Pop songs, sis, but you better stan for Mariah's GTFO. - Nicki's Chun-Li got really stale after a while for me.
RobDeWittBukater Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 I'm seeing Something New, I'm seeing Young, I'm seeing Blooming Day, I'm seeing Days Gone By (!!!!), I'm seeing ONE GOD TWO GOD... WHY so much excellence??
Chemical X. Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 A fellow No Drama stan it’s one of my most-played songs of the year
