The Magnificent Moon - Midlife this came out in 2017 i think, but i have to include it because i wrote it down in notes at the beginning of the year as a song to put on my year end list (the only one i ever wrote down). relistening to it, i’m glad i did because it’s a kind of smooth funky spacey psychedelic disco jam and i love it, it kind of reminds me of the ending of st. vincent’s surgeon. i just see now they apparently released a song this year too? maybe it should’ve been the one. musica psychedelic rock 73. Party For One - Carly Rae Jepsen y’all are lame for calling this too basic, or a disappointment. i think it’s shows more personality than a lot of her emotion era songs honestly. (this was at one point a natalie portman song from vox lux cause it gave me major farrah abraham vibes which was hilarious to me but then i realised i forgot about this) musica electropop 68. VENGEANCE l VENGEANCE (feat. JPEGMAFIA & ZillaKami) - Denzel Curry album was disappointing, but here he takes the opportunity to go hard and runs with it, with great guest spots (notably jpegmafia). musica trap rap 67. Disappointing Diamonds Are The Rarest of Them All - Father John Misty basically a beatles song, but good on father john misty for deciding to make his production actually engaging this time. musica piano rock 66. All Mine - Kanye West controversy aside, this is pretty revealing. musica pop rap 65. Butterflies - Kacey Musgraves figured i might as well give her a slot to be nice, and i do actually think butterflies is pretty cute. unfortunately she kind of ruins it by making the melody bad after it was good. musica country pop 64. You Let My Tyres Down - Tropical **** Storm pretty enjoyable, kinda like a less psychedelic kg&tlw. rym calls it ‘punk blues’ which sounds apt i guess. the song shows off a lot of stylistic influence throughout its runtime and it makes for a dense, wild, and interesting rock song in the rock is dead era. musica punk blues 63. Naysayer, Magick Obeyer - Clarence Clarity just as late 1990s/early 2000s’d as his rina stuff, honestly can’t get enough of that specific era of throwback sound. musica glitch pop 62. Crayons - Cupcakke other songs have better bars, or harder flows (cartoons, quiz...), and it’s not even the lgbt theme that puts this song here, but that unbelievably sticky horn riff in the background, which is just so outright enjoyable. big ups to cartoons tho. actually lets just say: crayons / cartoons. ok and quiz musica pop rap 61.
