“Adele is the one person who’s sold more records than me in the past ten years. She’s the only person I need to sell more records than. That’s a big f***ing feat because her last album sold 20 million. But if I don’t set her as the benchmark then I’m selling myself short.

“There’s an underdog element to it. Taylor Swift was never the popular kid in school. I was never the popular kid in school. Then you get to the point when you become the most popular kid in school – and we both take it a bit too far.

She wants to be the biggest female artist in the world and I want to be the biggest male artist in the world. It also comes from always being told that you can’t do something and being like, ‘F*** you. I can.’”

He didn't say he was gonna sell more than Adele

No matter how hard you try, your fave pop girl can't do half numbers :toofunny2:

And he won't be frontloaded

Nice he's doing Adele's fifth week sales.

Not at all, 25 sold 1,157,000 in the fifth week

Maybe he can match the 307k from her sixth week?

oh my... I mean it's much higher than most rihleases... but with the way this era started this is kinda floppy

So he'll probably do the 3rd-largest streaming week, right? Abel had 117k SEA and Drake 163k.

No atrl lost like it always does. :toofunny2:

He never talked about US numbers. He's the 2nd biggest seller force globally after Adele. #1 on streaming.

Great numbers for 2017 but it's really funny how much he overestimated himself.

This. Of course it's great but it's not that big.

This. It'd be super impressive if he hadn't hyped himself up so much. I expected 750K.

Good numbers but I honestly was expecting way more.

I wonder if he is having a meltdown, we all know boy is checking them predictions more than his haters

Atrl WON

Didn't Adele get to that number by 3AM on her opening day.

He's a flop if he wants to compete with Adele. He should start comparing himself to everyone else, in that field, he's doing great.

He spoke too soon. I love him and I kinda like his new album but it's not even better than his previous record. Let alone Adele-level quality or success. He might not even get a Grammy nomination for it and rightfully so.

but i thought he's a male adele :ahh: The album is so bad. He spoke too soon

Biggest album in the world.
